I enjoyed this neighborhood gem. I always knew it was there but never really ventured in. I met the owner Joe randomly and he was very welcoming and kind. The service and staff were great. We had the Cajun salmon that was on the specials menu and the chicken fajitas meal with whole wheat pasta in oil and garlic. The salmon was REALLY good. Well cooked and had great seasoning. I truly enjoyed. My friend enjoyed her chicken meal. It was well prepared and she was trying to eat more on the healthy side lol. The apple pie dessert was so delicious. I love their BBQ chicken and onion wrap. Literally the best thing on the menu or I think they're Caesar with grilled chicken wrap is also really good. I get both with a side of barbecue sauce so I can dip it for a little bit extra sauce. But they're honestly good on their own. And obviously, I've had their lemonade, which is so freaking good. I love lemonade. It's one of my favorite drinks and this place makes it really well. The servers are always really nice. I haven't had a chance to dine in even though it's so close to my house, but I ordered from there for so long. It's like a staple takeout for me. But anytime I walked into the restaurant to pick up my food. It's always so beautiful inside. I came by with a group of 5 which he was able to accommodate, we asked if we can get a milk shake which they don't make there but the owner went above and beyond to go and make us milk shakes, which were great. Food is always great, but I tried the salad the harvest salad and I asked to put grilled chicken in it as well. It was huge and it was most delicious. I ate every bit of it. I had a raspberry vinaigrette on it and it was great. they have many great things like the three mini burgers and chicken sliders and the best sweet potato fries ever their wedges and they're crispy on the outside and soft inside. They're my favorite the grilled chicken with spinach and mozzarella on a grilled pita with their special hot sauce is just outrageous. I've had other foods, but those are generally my favorites. Even their iced tea with no sugar is delicious with a piece of lemon in it. The owner is very friendly and wonderful. The staff are always polite, sweet and wonderful. I can't say enough about this place. I love it here and I bring people here all the time I used to come years ago with my husband, but he used to complain that they took long he has since passed on, but I come here with friends lots of friends and family and everyone loves it and it's my favorite place. These past few weeks Gourmet Grill has been keeping me alive. I've been ordering from them on my way in from work when I'm unable to make dinner I just want to grab something healthy or a quick late-night bite. The food may take longer than usual but it doesn't bother me because I know was fresh me to order. I have never had an issue with my order and the delivery people come before the estimated time. I'm normally pretty hesitant to try restaurants with such large menus, such as Gourmet Grill, because there is no way that all of that food can actually be fresh. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality. I tried the hummus platter as an appetizer and the hummus was good and tasted like it was freshly prepared. I got the mozzarella and tomato panini for my main and it tasted good but it did not have quite the same fresh quality to it. The sandwich was overstuffed, so it is a good value for the price. I also had a glass of the white sangria which was pretty decent as well, and not overly sweet. I sat in their outdoor area in the back which was surprisingly nice. Quite possibly one of the worst chicken parm dinners I've ever had. My wife had a wrap with a side of broccoli that she said was ok, nothing to brag about although the broccoli I'll admit was delicious. Overall though I don't agree with most of the reviews. I'll give this place another try and I'm hopeful it's better the second time around. I'm staying in Mill Basin for a few months and have to say the food has been rather disappointing. For my 65th birthday I wanted to treat some family and some very close friends to a very nice dinner to celebrate; yesterday night; about 2 dozen guests in all. Gourmet Grill blows away any so called fancy/trendy "white tablecloth" restaurants in Brooklyn. The food (quality/quantity) was terrific, the service and ambiance just as terrific. The salad and appetizers were excellent and everyone devoured the rib appetizers they were so good. There was a choice of several entrees that were excellent and we were allowed to choose any of the sauces for the pasta. The tuscan sauce is terrific and I don't know of any other place that has it. I do not like cakes so I was given cups of ice cream to go along with the cannolis and rainbow cookies. The bottom line is that there was not a single thing that could have possibly been better. I also want thank the owner, John. There is no better person to work with. I had 2 friends who are have severe food allergies and John went out of his way to prepare their food separately just for them. I also want to note that I am a "regular" here for many years. I ordered from the catering menu and I must say as expensive as it is, the shrimp and chicken paella was amazingly delicious and I've never had any as yummy as this one was. The only thing I disliked that I didn't realize was I ordered a half a tray of salad and they gave me a full tray. I believe I was charged for a large tray but it's ok, my party was great and everyone loved the food. I've only eaten here about three times, but have always enjoyed what I had. So far I've had the eggplant parm wrap which was good and the shrimp parm wrap which was exceptionally tasty. Yes they excel in wraps imo. The shrimps were jumbo size and very fresh. The waitress informed me that they get their seafood from SeaTide, the neighborhood seafood store which happens to have an excellent reputation. I appreciated that she told me that. Ravioli was also ordered, which was fine. Their red sauce is a bit on the sweet side, but very tasty nonetheless. Vibe is comfortable and service is friendly. I ordered sautéed shrimp with garlic and lemon over saffron rice , which sounded delicious But what I received was a few shrimp on top of rice and beans ! Terrible I couldn't eat it . The appetizer came out after a few minutes, and our dinners came out minutes after we finished the appetizer. The service was attentive; our glasses were always filled. The menu is pretty vast. It's quite diner-like with an exhausting list of entrees and sandwiches. There is something for everyone! We started with the fried mac n cheese bites that were on special. They weren't anything special. I would have opted for a different app in hindsight. For dinner, I had the rigatoni alla vodka with chicken. "Burger Ripoff" - Decided to see what's so special about this $13.95 burger. First mistake was having it delivered. Everything including the frozen french fries was cold. The burger tasted like an ordinary burger - no grill taste - actually hardly any taste at all (i had to add ketchup and a slice on onion). Also ordered pasta with garlic and oil and asked for extra garlic - how about there was no garlic at all. Food was delivered with no utensils or napkins. Not recommended........................... Not bad for a casual family eatery on the edge of Mill Basin. It was moderately busy when I got here for dinner this evening, I was with a party of three others. The waitstaff was attentive but not smothering, the air conditioning was almost negligible but there were ceiling fans everywhere so I was fine (though not everyone was), the sangria was good, but I'm glad I ordered a small instead of a large. I got the broiled salmon steak, which was good, probably the best entree in our party, relative to a veggie burger (described as a smushed vegetable patty), broiled filet of sole (which seemed fried) and grilled chicken (which wasn't really grilled). The spinach that came with mine seemed like they took a whole pack of frozen spinach and microwaved it, then mixed it with some sauteed garlic, but I love spinach and I'll eat it sheep-style if necessary. The fries and cole slaw with the veggie burger were better than the burger itself. I've been here once before, about two years ago, and it will probably be about the same amount of time before I return. It's not bad, but if I'm not cooking, I'm usually going to prefer the best pizza ever which is just down the street from me anyway. read more

Okay so this place has been here for 20 years and I'm just discovering it? SMH to myself. Hubby and I went on an inpromptu date on an early Friday evening and were seated right away. Our waitress was fast and very friendly. I noticed that all the staff were young and definitely have the place running like a well oiled machine. My wife took me on a date to this newly renovated restaurant. The inside was tastefully done, upscale. This was not expected since they had a plain awning for a sign and is a very casual place. My wife ordered chicken parm for me and a chicken wrap for her. I must say , this was one of the best chicken parms I have ever had! The chicken was fresh and cooked just right. It just melted in your mouth enhanced by the provalone. Her wrap was pretty good too. She explained that this place uses only fresh ingredients and no preservatives. A real healty menu and meal. The staff was attentive and very professional. the only reason, I cannot give it five stars is due to the wait. After ordering, it literally took forty five minutes for the food to arrive. (I wanted to jump out the window at this point) This surprised me since, the place was not crowded and only had two other tables to take care of. But once the food arrived, all was forgiven. I do understand that making healty food can take a bit longer but they must work on their preparation time becasuse a lot of us have to get back to work.
