Filet Mignon entree was standard steak house price but this establishment is not a steakhouse. Both our fillets were cooked to the temps we ordered. The meat was good quality. However. The entire dish was BLAND. Zero salt or seasoning in anything. What? Did the chef forget to add salt to everything?? The sauce would've been great if it was seasoned and had taste. Same goes for potatoes gratin and mushrooms and meat. This was bizarre. How do you not season food? $15 napoleon was okay. Not the best and not the worst I had. The cream was too heavy on the eggs and more of a custard consistency, not the traditional Russian napoleon kind. I've had few breakfasts/brunches here for which the menu is good. Food tastes delicious, plating is nice, decent portions. It's a bit pricey but also gives more upscale vibe (interior & layout). I've never had problems with service, my waiters were always attentive and pleasant. I've had the lobster ravioli, foie gras, french toast, burrata avocado toast, burrata avocado salad, lobster ravioli, Kobe sliders, red velvet cake, carrot cake and doughnuts (not all at once lol). Most of the food is good, but very pricey. The lobster ravioli was fine, foie gras good, but small, Kobe sliders just plain meat, but the fries were yummy, burrata salad good, avocado toast overkilled with onions and all the desserts were good. The decor inside is nice and they also have an outside dining area. The staff seem fine - hard to say never having sat inside personally, but my husband has not had anything notably bad to say. I would just say it's hard to keep ordering from them when I just see prices climb up and up especially for food delivery service apps. For example, I previously got the French toast for $12 and it went up to $16! A 33+% increase seems crazy to me. Some items seem okay, but being pricey to begin with and then raising by so much has made me less inclined to order as much as I used to. Duet bakery & restaurant was a nice experience except for when a couple sat down in the outside dining area and had their dog with them that barked loud and aggressively. Thankfully I was wrapping up my meal and was paying the bill when they got seated because I would have been highly upset sitting through that while I tried to enjoy my meal. Duet is a dog friendly restaurant and allow dogs in the outdoor seating area which I didn't enjoy at all. How inconsiderate can customers be to bring their pets to establishments knowing that they bark. Do you not care that other people are eating and don't want to hear your loud obnoxious dog barking the whole entire time???? Anyway, I've never been to the Mill Basin section of Brooklyn so I was quite amazed at the beautiful houses and how lovely the neighborhood was. I sat outside which was cozy and quiet compared to indoors. The highlight of my meal was the dessert. I ordered the lobster ravioli which was gorgeous but it didn't taste as good as it looked. I like my pasta al dente but it was undercooked and I didn't like the lobster filling inside. The appetizer left a bad taste in my mouth but it was sardines so that was to be expected. Was it a clever marketing strategy to attract new customers or a way to retain regulars? I was curious enough to get answers. It was a little out of the way for me unless you are already in the neighborhood because you live or plan to shop at Kings Plaza. The restaurant was beautiful, branded (signage, menus, even glassware), comfortable seating (we reserved a booth), and offered mouth-watering photos of their food on the large TV in the back of the dining room. Although it was helpful (since we eat with our eyes first), it became harder to make a selection. Yes, everything looked good. Our server never introduced himself, he made some recommendations. The hospitality was alright. I ordered the 10 oz pan-seared Norwegian salmon, which normally comes with wild rice and basil pesto. However, I substituted the wild rice with creamy mashed potatoes. The fish was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes were smooth, rich, and delicious. Yummy! As our party of four browsed the dessert menu, the majority of us craved the apple pie a la mode. We were disappointed that there was none, not even the carrot cake in a pot. I wanted to try something different so I opted for the Napoleon. It was good but not my favorite. We were impressed by the three scoops of ice cream (chocolate, vanilla, and pistachio), which were presented to our table on an illuminated ice block with grooves. French Onion Soup- Very tasty and plentiful. ($14) Spicy Salmon Tartare- It arrived in a cute mini gold bathtub. Delicious and very generous compared to other places. Let me start with the Pros: 1) They are dog friendly with outdoor seating 2) The food is excellent Sadly now for the Cons: 1) There is no excuse, in an almost empty restaurant, for the waiter to take your order and never return. They usually give delicious, warm, soft bread as you wait for your meal. Not today. I had to ask for the bread and then it was stale. HARD AND STALE. I came here to celebrate my birthday dinner, granted without reservations but it was Thursday 7 pm. From the time we ordered to when we received our food was an hour and 20 minutes. That is also after we told them twice that we have been waiting for a long while. Further, in that time, they didn't come to check whether we have water or need anything else. For the money they are charging I expect better service. Finally, the food, once it came, was barely warm, some plates were over-salted and another under salted, it tasted just okay. I have to adjust my rating because of a really weird interaction with this restaurant. I was organizing a small gathering of friends and family and decided on this restaurant which I visit multiple times a month for breakfast, lunch and dinner or just a drink and dessert. I had actually already made reservations when I thought about a member of the group who was really particular about his beers. I called to find out if there were beers and wines on tap and if so, how many and which ones, just to make sure that my friend would have a fair selection to choose from. The person I spoke to at first didn't seem to know what I meant when I asked about beers and wines on tap. Then after informing me that they DID have beers and wines on tap, when I asked which ones, and I formed her that I just wanted some names for my group, she angrily said, "I can't answer that question." and hung up on me. I'm confused. Is it a secret the beers and wines restaurants keep on tap? Was the error mine for inquiring? I'm legitimately curious. I can't fault the food at Duet. However, it saddens me that post-Covid the customer service both in the restaurant and over the phone seems to be declining. read more

Came here for brunch about a month ago, and saw their daily specials on the back of the menu. I knew I wanted to check out their dinner during their 50% off night. We were pretty much impressed by almost everything. He wasn't exactly the hey how are you, how's the weather but I am not exactly a fan of that small talk. Oh.. the donuts? Delicious!! But we waited a half hour for them. My family was pretty content with their service and delivery speed. The menu is amazing with varieties in different cultures foods. Some of the dishes weren't the greatest: the potatoes and mushrooms were undercooked and emitted a strange smell and the lobster ravioli was also under done which could be told by the toughness of the dough. However, the dessert never disappoints. My favorite includes the honey cake, the white mousse cake, and the napolian cake. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! I live a few blocks away and the order took nearly an hour and fifteen minutes. We ordered the lobster Benedict, burger and bagel platter. When it finally arrived everything was ice cold and the bread on the burger and the Benedict was so mushy it was inedible. Additionally, I've never actually seen bagels as small as the ones they provide with the bagel platter. They give you 5 and an array of spreads and smoked salmon. I used 3 "bagels" just on the chicken salad! For being ludicrously overpriced and often empty inside, you would think they would make more of an effort. This is my second time giving them a shot. I had dinner and dined in once as well and was disappointed but figured I'd give them another try before writing a review so they couldn't say it was just the one time. My advice? Get actual bagels, (a recommendation I now see has been given by other reviewers but was clearly ignored) even Lenders are better! And take the money you spend on the pretty packaging and use it for more staff. Obviously my order didn't really take that long, but was sitting around before it was delivered. Lastly, I watched the delivery guy sitting in the car trying to find my phone number before he called me and delivered the food. I live close by to Duet Bakery and decided to give it a try for brunch on a Sunday. When we walked in, there was a line and the hostess directed us to a separate room (I guess?) that was not connected to the original main two rooms. We were seated and we ordered the salmon eggs Benedict, regular dish with two eggs, potatoes, salad, bacon, and then the egg and potato skilled. However, this is where the real disaster happened. The dish with the eggs/potatoes/etc (traditional dish) was supposed to come with potatoes and toast! None of which was brought! Of course, this isn't the waiter's fault entirely, but he should've noticed this. We also ordered an iced cappuccino and 2 hot cappuccinos. The drinks were great though. However, as the room started to fill up, there was only ONE waiter for about 10 tables! He couldn't keep up with all the requests for everyone, continuously messed up orders, and even forgot to bring things when we asked.
