Excellent coffee; Princeton's only third wave coffee option. They could be a little bit more friendly at times, but generally the baristas are nice. Atmosphere is pretty good, stylish; small, but with Palmer Square right outside, you can often hang out on the green when the seats are full (unless it's raining etc). Probably wouldn't hurt them to offer home-made flavorings, but they're philosophically against flavors in coffee (except chocolate in mochas, which btw they do very well). Anyway, their coffee is good and their simple syrup is amazing, so there's no loss. In summary, if you have a high standard of coffee and find yourself in Princeton, this is where you want to be. read more

You have to give props to anyone daring enough to start a high-end coffee business in Palmer Square. The rents here must be like those on Rodeo Drive! Rojo's Roastery makes do with a relatively small number of square feet; it can't aspire to be a local hangout à la Small World. Its customers need to be genuine coffee lovers who are willing to pay top dollar for a perfect espresso shot and will then move on after their coffee has been consumed. It's a challenge, but these folks seem up to it. They pull excellent shots and have a great attitude. I ordered a cortado "for here" ($4) and was perfectly happy with the result. If this place were in Brooklyn, there'd be a line out the door. read more

Highly recommend their cappuccinos or their macchiatos. Every espresso drink they have is made with love. They have put a different design in my cappuccino/macchiato foam every time I'm there. All the workers are very welcoming, making this coffee stop feel like a little home. read more

Rojo's Roastery - Macchiato.... Truly made with love. - Coffee Roasteries Near Me - Princeton, New Jersey

Im a HUGE coffee drinker and I've been to a million mom and pop shops and this one BY FAR beats them all! The quality and taste of their coffee is beyond amazing AND they have LATTE ART which is what I look forward to everytime! 100% recommended read more

I should have written this review sooner. Mostly, I wanted to say that I have never had anything less than a superb espresso or macchiato from Rojo's. Whenever I am in or near Princeton, I make it a point to stop in to the Palmer Square Rojo's, and I am never disappointed. Beyond having excellent coffees, they apparently train their baristas exceedingly well, as every one of them produces superb espresso. Love this place! read more

Small but not tiny; don't plan on getting somewhere to sit. Great service. The 5 stars is for the COFFEE. They roast a mean bean. Slightly pricy, but not bad. Definitely some of the best coffee you'll have. read more

By far, the best coffee shop in Princeton. This place is such a nice change from Small World! The coffee is interesting and delicious. Make sure you try their pour-overs. Also, they sell chocolate from the brand "twenty-four black birds." It's the best chocolate I've ever had. No exaggeration. Forget about Lindt and Thomas Sweet. Get your chocolate at Rojo's. read more

Unreliable. The best cappuccino I had here was a 5 star. The worst was a 1 star. Check which barista is working before ordering. The hipster dude is good. Others beware. In general they have nice beans and the espressos are good but cappuccino takes a little more skill and their training on that end is lacking. read more

This cafe is fantastic! The coffee beans are roasted locally and the baristas know so much about the coffee. My go to drink here is the macchiato, they use half and half and it's absolutely decadent. Absolutely recommend. read more

Small place, quiet on Saturday morning. I got a latte to go, pretty latte art, not acidic at all. I would come back for sure. read more

Honestly Rojos is one of the best places to get coffee in Princeton. It beats Small World's coffee by a trillion miles and the service has been consistently fantastic. The coffee is always, always made with care and LOVE. These people really know the craft of making a good cup of brew, and are really underrated. If you're a true coffee connoseur go to Rojos, not Small World. (Btw they recently switched to paper straws which is a tragedy, but whatever I still love Rojos) read more

The quality of this coffee is far superior to any other in Princeton, and is definitely in the big leagues overall. They know their stuff and they work with great care. As is the sign of an excellent cup of coffee, I often choose not to put any milk or sugar into my drink. Minor downsides: things can move a bit slowly in here. There are not that many customers most of the time, however, so you will not wait too long overall. Drinks other than coffee (chai, hot cocoa) are nothing special.I do wish they had a bathroom. Bulk coffee beans are prohibitively expensive. Yes, they are probably very good, but for that kind of money I can buy mail order from Counter Culture. Bottom line: If Rojo's were in a location that was more accessible to me, I'd probably be here every day. read more

This is a place that clearly deserves 5 stars. The best coffee you will find in the Princeton area. If you're serious about your coffee, you'll get a serious cup of java from here. Very open and non intimidating. Feel free to ask the friendly staff about their options! I love the cappuccino. read more

Great little place. Must try the pour-over regular coffee. I asked for a recommendation since I'm more of a tea and chocolate guy, and the barista explained the flavor profiles of current stock and gave me a good recommendation. I had it black and iced and it was probably the best iced coffee I've ever tasted in my life. Nice mini wrapped single-origin chocolates were nearby and I also asked for a pairing recommendation. I'll be back. read more

After traveling around America for coffee, I'm so glad to discover this new coffee bar in Princeton. Randy, Diana and Sophie not only make beautiful latte art, but also are extremely friendly, knowledgable and willing to share coffee knowledge. read more

This place has really good coffee. But Small world is better in every way: he coffee is better, the baristas are cooler, the space is bigger. Rojo's is grossly overrated. I suspect that since small world has been around for so long, all the coffee snobs were itching for a new place to discover. Enter Rojo's: more expensive coffee the snobs will pay for just to say they found something better. It's real good coffee. But I would (and do) pick small world any day. read more

We had a drip and pour over at this place. Tiny and no seating. Good place for stop and go coffee. Pour over was a Peruvian coffee and was good. The Columbia drip was ok. Staff was ok but nothing special. read more

After living in Central NJ for 3 months, I've found my coffee shop worth trekking to. Much better than the other local places in Princeton.

One of the best roasteries on this coast. One cup of latte from Rojo is what motivates me getting up early in the morning. Their beans is the best too (Midwives' moonshine is such a good blend). At this time of pandemics, I order from their website so I don't need to touch anything. read more

I got a large mocha latte. The size and the latte were underwhelming for six dollars.

I recently moved to Princeton from Europe and have been disappointed by most of the coffees I have had so far. But after reading reviews I decided to Rojo's today and I was not disappointed. Best coffee so far, I had a small latte, smooth and full body. There is not many seats inside which is a downfall, but as it was a nice day so sitting across the road in the park was more fun. read more

Though size of the shop is very small, and not very good as a "sit down and chill" type shop due to lack of space, the coffee at Rojos is phenomenal. I've tried the drip, latte and cappuccino which were all great. The latte for instance has very consistently textured milk, not just a layer of foam on top which frequently occurs in lesser coffee shops. Clearly the emphasis is on light roast. If you're looking for somewhere it sit down and work, this probably isn't the spot, but if you are looking for a great cup of coffee, then definitely check out Rojos. read more

So this place has grown on me for a few reasons. Their tea is amazing, the employees are knowledgeable & their service is fast & efficient. I would recommend this location to coffee & tea aficionados. I would not recommend this location to people who think Dunkin' Donuts has the best coffee (me). read more

My family and I love Rojo's! Their cortado (hot or iced) with oat milk is delicious, and their iced coffee is refreshing. To top it off, the baristas are super friendly. If you want consistency with your drinks and great customer service, go to Rojo's! read more

ohhhhhhh new favourite place. came by here to write some letters and do some doodling. I got: - tanzania pourover $3.50 - marshmallow $0.50 coffee was great (I got the single origin tanzania). I'm not sure why, but small world will only do a pourover after 5pm. who is drinking coffee after 5pm? (wait, don't answer that.) no such shenanigans here. the barista was super friendly as she chatted and prepared the drink for me. I also really liked the cup (weird thing to comment on?) -- it's just double walled clear glass but feels so refreshing and crisp. but. as much as a coffee roastery should be commended on their coffee, I must say that marshmallow stole the show. fluffy, light, and slightly sweet, slightly chewy, and 1000% delicious. if not for anything, I will be coming back to get a whole bunch for future depressing late-night work sessions. they also sell single origin dark chocolates from 24 blackbirds, which are made and packaged in santa barbara, and baked pastries. words of warning: small space. hard to get seating. also no wifi. but for what it's worth, I will definitely be adding this place to my regular rotation. read more

Smaller, snobbier, better coffee shop than Small World. The owners know coffee, and they are glad to share their knowledge. Docked a star because there is only room for maybe 5-7 people to sit. I don't buy prepared drinks too often because of how expensive it is and because there's rarely any seating available, but their beans and chocolate are amazing. Get the Colombia Tolima beans if they're there - I brew it at home with my french press and it's so good plus it'll save you money in the long run. Thanks to free samples I discovered that Rojo's stocks an AMAZING chocolate brand called "Rogue Chocolatier," whose ingredients consist purely of cocoa beans and sugar and nothing else. I highly recommend the Sambirano 70%, it will take your taste buds on an incredible journey. read more

Cute coffee shop! Small, a bit dark but cozy with some nice window seating. Wouldn't bank on getting seating, it's usually filled. Excellent coffee, rich, smooth, and flavorful. My favorite is the midwives one, has hints of coco! read more

What a great little shop! Seating is limited inside so its recommended to get your items to go. Also, no bathroom so expect a trip to Nassau Inn if you need to relieve yourself. The staff is very attentive and friendly, I was impressed with the selection of coffees and teas, a nice alternative to Small World. Would love to see them expand to a bigger location. read more

Coffee was great... they took the time to make it look and taste special. In a very cute part of town. We definitely recommend!!

Cool little coffee shop in palmer square. Was good for a quick coffee, not sure if I would go back, people seem a little stuck up in this coffee shop. It was worth checking out a cool local place though. read more

This is the best coffee place to patronize in the Princeton area. If you're a local or are just passing through town, I do suggest dropping in. Just my two cents - the lattes are to die for. read more

This is my preferred coffee shop in Princeton. In my opinion, the quality and taste of the coffee is superior to Small World, the most direct competitor. That said, you will pay a pretty penny for this quality: a 12 oz. soy latte will set you back $5.75(?!?). Though I've never bought food here, Rojo does offer baked goods from the Gingered Peach, a high quality bake shop in Lawrenceville. They also have a small selection of thermoses (Zojirushi, THERMOS, etc.) and coffee makers (Chemex). Seating is VERY limited. If you're looking for a place to do work, this is probably not it. read more

Good, strong coffee. I ordered their version of a cold brew, it had a different name and I forgot it. I also bought some whole beans to take home. The place is very tight and 1 worker made a for a wait longer than what I planned for. This is the place for your pour overs and such. Coffee lovers will like this place. read more

Reliably excellent cappuccino with a small selection of great quality bakery items. Chocolate macadamia cookies are wonderful when they have them. read more

I'd love to give these guys more stars as the coffee is great when you finally get it. Why, why, why is there only the barista behind the counter doing everything? Very slowly. There were queues almost out the door at times. So if you're prepared for a half hour wait for your coffee and nowhere to sit while you're waiting then this is the place. read more

Our favorite Princeton coffee shop: great espresso, delicious pastries, and extremely wonderful baristas. A gem!
