ZERO STARS: A Complete Scam Operation - Avoid at All Costs I rarely write reviews, but my…read moreexperience with Caveman Technology Group LLC was so egregious that I feel obligated to warn others. The Setup: Like many others, I purchased Ring Floodlamps and was referred to Caveman Technology as Ring's "recommended installer" for the Medford, Oregon area. This immediately gave me a false sense of security - if Ring recommends them, they must be legitimate, right? Wrong. The Bait: Within hours of submitting my installation request through Ring, I received a professionalsounding email from someone named Audrie requesting my address and device information. The response was prompt and seemed legitimate. This is where their scam begins - they establish quick communication to build trust. The Switch: On November 25th, they sent an invoice for $164.80, claiming this was for a "site survey to accurately assess the layout, identify potential security risks, and determine the best placement for your equipment." No actual installation work - just a survey. I paid on November 26th through Apple Pay. The Disappearance: After payment, complete radio silence. No calls, no emails, no scheduling. When I finally called them on December 2nd after nearly a week of hearing nothing, I was met with the most unprofessional phone interaction of my life. The person answered with a simple "hello" (no company name), barely spoke English, couldn't understand what I was calling about, and finally mumbled that someone would call me back. No one ever did. The Fraud: When I requested cancellation and refund on December 3rd, Audrie suddenly claimed they had already conducted the site survey and refused the refund. This is an outright lie - no one ever visited my home, called me, or conducted any survey. They're literally charging $164.80 for imaginary work. The Pattern: After this experience, I researched their reviews and found I'm not alone. While they somehow maintain decent ratings on some platforms (which I now question), there are numerous complaints about: * Charging for work never performed * Poor communication and unprofessional behavior * Refusal to provide refunds for services not rendered The Aftermath: I'm now disputing the charge with American Express and filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and Oregon Contractors Board. Interestingly, I found that Caveman Technology Group LLC has been cited by the Oregon CCB for compliance violations as recently as August 2024. Bottom Line: This company should be avoided at all costs. They appear to have perfected a scam where they collect "survey fees" for work they never intend to perform, then refuse refunds by claiming imaginary services were provided. The fact that Ring continues to recommend them is deeply concerning and reflects poorly on Ring's vetting process. Save yourself the headache, the money, and the frustration. Find a local, reputable installer with actual positive reviews from real customers. Caveman Technology Group LLC is nothing but a sophisticated scam dressed up as a legitimate business.

**RUN FAR AWAY FROM MARIO!!**…read more I had an absolutely horrendous experience with Caveman Security, particularly with the owner, Mario. I foolishly hired them to install a six-camera security system at my home. After waiting two weeks for someone to show up, a contractor finally arrived, and it was an unmitigated disaster from start to finish. The wiring was an absolute hack job; they bent and destroyed about 200 feet of it, making it completely unusable. The camera placements were utterly ridiculous and were nothing like what we had discussed. The cameras themselves were low-quality, cheap imports from China--I found an entire eight-camera kit on Amazon for a mere $500. When I confronted Mario about this, he outright lied to my face, claiming these were high-quality commercial cameras that couldn't be bought online. What a joke! To make matters worse, the NVR box didn't even come with a hard drive. After wasting weeks trying to make it work, I discovered Mario had taken the rare and essential data cable for the hard drive, forcing me to shell out even more money for a separate NVR. He set everything up outdoors in my woodshop, which was completely insecure, and when I pointed this out, he dismissed it as "temporary," promising it would be moved during "phase 2." I later found out that "phase 2" was his sneaky way of referring to another invoice for additional work that we had never discussed. Mario promised that everything would be done with direct burial wiring, but when I checked, it turned out to be anything but. Only after I called him out did he admit it would need to be in conduit, which was never part of our original agreement. When he finally returned to set up the cameras, he did so under his own passwords and usernames, leaving me unable to access them without performing a factory reset. I couldn't even view the cameras unless I was physically in my woodshop with the monitor--absolutely ridiculous! Every single part of this installation had to be redone due to his shoddy workmanship, and his communication was atrocious. He even had the audacity to try to collect the second payment before the job was anywhere near completion, making it painfully clear he never intended to finish the job in the first place. Mario is nothing but a scam artist, and I've wasted countless hours trying to fix the mess he created. I would strongly advise against hiring Caveman Security or Mario. Save your money and look elsewhere!
