However, even after three emails and his promise to get the signs installed I never got the signs. I even offered to install them if he would just drop them by the house. How much effort does it take to drop off some signs in a small town like Brookings? So of course if I cancel service the contract is written entirely to the benefit of the company and not the consumer. Parts of the contract the company didn't sign so I don't know how valid the contract is as my signature is the only one on the document. Anyway, I found Hi-Tech to be unprofessional with respect to post installation customer care. Their customer care was excellent prior to getting my payment. After payment, not so much. Their ads show a very nice security signs. Since they use this sign for marketing purposes consumers will assume they will get these signs to deter robbers and such.

we moved to brookings several years ago and after our neighbor had a security system installed at…read morehis home, we thought it might be a good idea to follow his lead. we contacted alan, who came out and spoke to us about the benefits of his system. we agreed to have five outside cameras plus one inside camera with motion detector installed. there were a few minor problems with door sensors which were repaired within 24 hours of notification. the 24-hour monitoring works very well. the only issue we've had is on our back deck, which at night is in total darkness - hi-tech has replaced the camera located there four times in an effort to improve the camera performance to little avail. alan has been responsive and tried his best to better the situation. it is obvious to us that as with any camera, they do not perform well in total darkness. overall, we are very satisfied with our security system.

After a recent over night power outage, a glass break sensor in the garage started intermittently…read moresending out a low battery signal. We replaced the battery, but it kept showing LBS. Clint lead us through troubleshooting on the keypad, but a few hours later, LBS again. Sam came out the very next day, and was able to reset the sensor and its working great! AND no charge!! The same great qualities that prompted us to choose Advanced Security to install our system nearly 4 decades ago keep us confident in their business practices today! Thank you for being great!

Security Lock & Alarm is the only Abloy reseller in the area, but unfortunately their customer…read moreservice has been consistently disappointing. On multiple occasions I've called or stopped by, only to be told that no one was available to help me. Each time I left my name and number, I was promised a call back -- but I have never once received one. This forces me to return in person, where the outcome is usually either: 1. "We're out of stock," or 2. "Someone will call you back." As a small business owner, I only purchase 1-4 locks per year, which is nothing compared to the large timber company that seems to get first priority. Still, every customer deserves fair treatment and basic communication. A promised call back should actually happen, regardless of order size. On my most recent visit (two trips in one day), I finally spoke with someone knowledgeable about inventory and keying. Even then, I was told "someone will call you back." That was over three days ago, and I'm still waiting. At the time, there was open discussion among staff about whether additional stock was available, but I left without answers. Because Abloy keys cannot be duplicated by other locksmiths, I'm now forced to shop online, where replacement keys can take weeks. This lack of support locally has cost me significant time and frustration. This is not an isolated incident -- I've had at least three other nearly identical experiences with Security Lock & Alarm: no follow-up, repeated visits, and wasted time. It really highlights how small businesses and individual customers are deprioritized compared to big contracts. In short: if you're not a large-volume customer, don't expect much help here.
