Rodney's ribs are excellent. I've had other stuff, but I haven't been there for a while so most recently when I have gone back I got the rib tips. The meat is tender, juicy and not over seasoned. The ambience and service are the only reasons why I'm giving it four stars versus five. It's a food truck so there is no ambience. In the service is very basic. Just walk up place you understand there and wait. That said do not miss out on the ribs because the man cares about what he does and you can taste it in the food.

Rodney makes my favorite brisket sandwich in all of LA. The food here is fantastic. The meat is always juicy and tender and full of flavor. The portions here are massive. I still can't believe how good his sandwich is! He service is great as Rodney is always super nice!! He usually parks his truck in a parking lot on Lake street.

Amazing barbecue food truck that specializes in ribs. We ordered Rodney's dinner that came with 5 juicy, fall of the bone ribs and 2 sides, as well as 2 extra ribs a la carte. The food was very tasty and satisfying. The ribs were drenched in sauce but surprisingly not uber sweet. The beans and potato salad were great complements to the ribs. Friendly service in a large parking lot.

I love Rodney's Ribs! His lean BBQ Brisket Sandwich is delicious! It's thinly sliced, but he is generous on portion of food. The Pork ribs have a nice bite to them, yet tender. The homemade side dishes are delicious as well. His BBQ are lightly smoked and are perfectly sauced. Rodney's mobile BBQ isn't fancy and the menu is straight forward. You can find him at the CVS parking lot on Lake Ave and Mountain St , access from Roma Market. If you plan on stopping by, I would call ahead to see if he is there, sometimes he sells out for the day or running behind. His food are delicious and made with care. Credit Credit and Cash accepted.

This review I not normal as Mr Rodney was serving food while the Eaton fires were still burning in Altadena. I appreciate so much that he was still serving his amazing bbq in the middle of such a devastating time. When I went they didn't have all of the meat options nd veggie. But what he do have was delicious! I got the rib tip and brisket. They were tender and top quality. He is in a truck in the cvs parking lot on Lake. Love this food truck so much that we visited 2x in 2 weeks! The meat is tender, the bbq sauce isn't too sweet or overwhelming, the sides are delicious and the prices aren't ridiculous. The truck is parked in the corner of the CVS parking lot Tuesdays-Saturdays. I suggest calling ahead to make sure he's there and to see what meats he has left. On our first visit he only had brisket left BUT it was one of the best bbq briskets i've had so no regrets. I haven't had a bad dish yet and the order of faves so far: 1) Brisket 2) Ribs 3) Potato salad with eggs in it =) 4) Mac n' cheese 5) Rib tips 6) Coleslaw 7) the white bread lolz i mean, it's bread. i made a potato salad + meat sammich with it

It was authentic! There's just something special about when small business owners pour their heart and soul into what they do--and you can taste the difference! We had the ribs and brisket--yum, yum, and yum! We also enjoyed the potato salad and the green beans (they had already sold out of the other sides, which tells you something!). Everything was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. A big thank you to Rodney and Andre--the Dynamic Duo! Your love for food and your passion for sharing it with others really shines through. As I walked up I was told to wait since the computer wasn't working. I ordered a brisket sandwich with a side of green beans. The menu reads $4.10 for sides. I was charged $500 for green beans . I asked for the sauce on the side which ended up with a sloppy brisket sandwich

I tried Rodney's special, and it was great. The ribs were flavorful and saucy, and the food came out quickly with minimal wait time. They accept both card and cash. I didn't get a chance to try the mac and cheese this time, but I'm looking forward to it on my next visit. Rodney was friendly, and overall, I really enjoyed my experience.

A local fixture for Pasadena, Rodney's Ribs brings mobile smokey BBQ to a CVS parking lot. When open, you can see his smoking setup working. A commercial smoker in a trailer. The menu is simple and you'll find the usual fixings for Brisket, Spareribs, and Pulled Pork. Both Sandwiches and entree orders are available and everything is laden with sauce unless you ask otherwise. All of the BBQ is well to heavily smoked. Depending on the time and day there are shortages and inconsistencies. I found the brisket to be sliced too thin but may work well in a sandwich. Ribs were not always consistent and certainly dry if not consumed right away and/or reheated. Kudos and credit are given for the mobile setup. When it's good it's great.

Rodney's did not disappoint for Christmas Dinner. I ordered Ribs, Brisket, Links, Potato Salas, Baked Beans, Green Beans for a party of 10 people. His portions were more than enough and more. His Ribs were tender and BBQ sauce was full of flavor. Briskets were my favorite, tender, smokey, slabbed with his BBQ sauce. His links were juicy and had a nice snap to the skin. His sides were also amazing. Rodney was also extremely friendly and helpful when helping me what to order for 10 people. I would definitely stop by his truck for a personal serving next time I'm in the area.

Been debating this review and what level of stars to give. Sometimes I get on bbq/brisket kicks. I had brisket the day before and wanted more. I was going to make a salad and throw some on. I like the brisket at Craft & Fire, 1/2 lb is $14. I used this as the baseline. I wanted to support black and local business and try this place. I called close to closing and was told it was $17 and they'd have it ready. I figured $3 wasn't too much more to support the business. I got there and was told my total was $21! Excuse you?! He said the other guy made a mistake and it was $19! I was less than impressed. I had just called, they could've honored what I was told. I begrudgingly paid and left. Strike 1. I tried the meat. It's ok. Nothing to write home about. I actually had a number of hard, inedible pieces. I'm not sure I cared for the sauce being on it either. $14 is doable, for $19 it better be AMAZING and it wasn't. The experience w the money and the meat not being fab all left a taste in my mouth. I talked to my chiro (also a black small business owner) and he said he'd been there and said they were pricey but that he enjoyed the ribs. He understood my reluctance but wasn't shocked by my experience. Would I go back? Not sure honestly. I can't think of anything redeeming with the meat or my customer service experience.

The Bobby's Brisket sandwich is absolutely delicious!!! Fabulous taste and even the bun was perfect. I think this was the best brisket sandwich I've ever had. The Mac and cheese was also delicious and prob one of the best I've ever had as well. Hit the spot!! read more

Incredible service, even more incredible food. Granted, it was my first time so I can't speak on the consistency yet but I have been thinking about the ribs every day since I had them. This go to bbq truck has my favorite brisket sandwich. The fat on his brisket is better than most folks meat. He only does 3 things on the menu (plus some serviceable sides) but he does them extremely well and with great care- hand slicing each order. Lately he has been parked at Forest Lawn and Barham around lunch time. Find it, eat it and thank me latter. read more

Read about this truck online and it took a couple of times before we found it. Was it worth the search? YES! This was the best lip-smacking, finger-licking, sauce-faced bbq I've ever had. Of course, there's brisket and ribs, but he also has my favorite links and rib tips. Everything has this great smokey flavor, the meat is tender and juicy, ribs are meaty and fall off the bone. Tried several of the sides and all are 100. Yummy potato salad, creamy coleslaw, tasty greens, hearty beans, and mac and cheese is on another level. I could go on and on but I'm making myself hungry. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

Tried due to recent press on their business. Good fair food. Preparation appeared to lack basic cleanliness. Cashier did not have correct change. Outside of truck was dirty. If outside is dirty what must the inside look like. No need to try again. Once was / is enough. read more

My family just left here, and I have to say this BBQ is legit. We came from a long way, so we had to eat in the car. My husband and I got the brisket sandwich and my daughter got the rib tips. All of it was delicious and worth what we paid. I didn't even mind eating in the car! We didn't take any pictures because it was just too messy, but portion sizes are large. read more

Delicious BBQ sauce and ribs cooked to perfection! I wanted to try this place out since I live so close and never had. It did not disappoint! The only thing was it was a little pricy ($4/rib) but with the meals it's a lot cheaper. Overall amazing and great employees. read more

Yes! Yes! Yes! The juiciest ribs are made here! I'm posting this review as I'm in a food coma induced by Rodney's. The portion was hefty and finger licking good. The green beans were so good and flavourful. Potato salad is a perfect companion to the ribs because of the tang. Baked beans was my favourite because of the sweetness. I have seen the truck for years and finally decided to stop by today. Ordered for the family, and so it was a rib dinner, rib tips and a brisket sandwich. Sides were green beans, baked bean, mac n cheese and Cole slaw. I have got to say that it was some of the best BBQ that I have had in years. Very smokey, sweet, tender and perfect. Happy with the quantity. The sides were also great. Green beans were my favorite. 4 of us ate our fill with enough leftovers for another person. I will be back for sure. Recommended! read more

Who doesn't want to try BBQ from a food truck that has been a Pasadena fixture for years? I went the day of Super Bowl at 11am and was able to order and get the food in 5 minutes. We ordered the rack of ribs and brisket. The rack of ribs was OK, because some were tender and tasty, others were kind of tough tough. The brisket was excellent -- very tender and flavorful. The food quality, combined with the reasonable price, are why I gave this 3 stars. Would recommend trying this place once. read more

I loved the meal I had here. I think it might be the best BBQ I've had in LA. I had Ribs, Coleslaw, and a Brisket Sandwich and everything was really just perfect. Great smoke flavor, good bark, and super moist without being mushy. I'm already looking forward to my next visit out. read more

I go to Austin Texas a lot for work and haven't found decent brisket in LA until I came across Rodney's Ribs. The brisket is tender and flavorful and service is great. I wish they sold cobbler too but it's not a deal breaker. Highly recommend this place! read more

Be ready to wait. Promise it's worth it. My friend and I happened upon Rodney's truck in DTLA. Just the smell coming from the truck catches your nose. We had to wait about ten minutes for him to step the truck up. Once he opened we were offered samples of his brisket and rib tips, both of which were delicious. His BBQ sauce is addictive! It has a little kick and too sweet. Since the first time we've gone back every time we see him. Each time food has been just as good as the first time. My only complaint is, he needs more help. The person who takes the orders also assist him with plating so at times you have to wait to order. Again you won't be mad you waited. Promise read more

He's at the CVS parking lot everyday except Thursdays, 11am to 8pm. I just bought the rib tips plate, the meat was moist and delicious. It's a deal at $11 a plate with one side and a slice of bread. Super nice dude at the counter, not sure if he's Rodney. You need to check him out. CVS on Lake Avenue near Popeyes. read more

Holy smokes! That brisket and that sauce is on point! After seeing Rodney's food truck around Pasadena, we finally decided to give it a try. The brisket is tender and juicy. The BBQ sauce is sweet and tangy. It goes so well with the brisket. They pack up your meal so thoughtfully. You can really tell they take pride in their service. The guys working the truck are super friendly. They'll even give you a free sample if it's your first time. My only complaint. I wish they served collard greens and black eyed peas. That would be amazing. Give Rodney's a try! You won't regret it! read more

This was my second time seeing the truck on the corner in Pasadena. Just this time, the smell got me. Went with my favorite which is brisket, so I ordered a sandwich with beans on the side. It took about 10 minutes which was fine because I wasn't in a hurry. My sandwich was pretty large. I ate about a quarter of it and had to stop because I got full. The meat was tender all the way through, and the sauce wasn't overwhelming or too much. The beans were good but a little sweet - could ease back in that area. Very good BBQ and looking forward to trying the tips and ribs next. read more

Impressed with the product. Wasn't sure what to expect. Simple yet good. The ribs were meaty and cooked just right. The brisket was tasty and moist. No smoke Ring on the beef, but plenty of smoke flavor. I got beans, and cole slaw for sides. Beans had a nice molasses flavor. The cole slaw was a little wetter than I like, but overall I was happy with my meal. Rodney makes good que. read more

I was a bit annoyed at first on how long it took to just order the food... then it took a long time to get it as well. We got there at around 5 and there was maybe 2 parties ahead of us in line. Poor guy who I'm assuming is Rodney was by himself. He was preparing the food and also taking orders. We were about to leave but heard someone mentioned that it's worth the wait. So... we stuck it out and the food certainly did not disappoint. The brisket was too die for. The rib tips were great. I wasn't a fan of the regular ribs. The potato salad were great as well. Too bad he didn't have the bake beans ready. I would definitely go back and be prepared to wait. Hope Rodney finds someone to help him soon. read more

I read a great article on Rodney's BBQ and him on LA Eater a year or so ago so 4 times during his posted hours went out of my way to drive to his reported location on N Lake at the CVS lot. He was never there, so I called him after the last time and politely inquired as to his current hours and location. He did not return the call so I had given up on having his food until I saw he was going to be at City Hall on April 29 for Art Night. Perfect! I am within walking distance and was going anyway so skipped dinner. But when I got there after the start time of 6:00 he wasn't there. (The other 2 listed food trucks were). I inquired at the Information tent and they didn't know why he wasn't there. He never showed so I went home to eat late. Will never try his food after that. Besides the fact there is a chance he will not be where and when he is supposed to be -- I am 0-5 -- it was very unprofessional of him not to show up. Not only did he miss out on a pretty good payday as there were lots of people there from 6:00-9:30 when the entertainment ended, it was very discourteous of him as he took away a good payday from a vendor who no doubt would have shown up. read more

As a first-time customer, I was excited to finally give it a try. I wish it had gone differently. The wait was long (with only one other customer in front of me), my order was incorrect, they were out of most of the sides, and the brisket was lukewarm and super fatty. This was my first time at Rodney's truck. I had heard great things about the barbeque but never stopped by. I ordered the brisket and Oh Lawd, was it the most tender moist meat I have ever had! Mauricio who prepared it promised me it was going to be really moist, tender and delicious, and he was not lying! I am a definite meat eater primarily, so I go through a lot of meat...I am so glad I ordered 2 plates! read more

The brisket here is phenomenal. Could be the best I have ever had. It's so tender and the bark is just so smokey and delicious. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is their limited side menu. They only have baked beans, green beans and potato salad. None of which I'm particularly keen on. Can't I get some mac and cheese or collard greens? Also they only have white bread. I get the whole backyard BBQ theme, a lot of people like the white bread, but I'm a cornbread guy. Regardless of my expectations, the BBQ here is fantastic and would highly recommend it. I tried all the meats, they are all great, but I would implore you to get the brisket. It would go a long way to improve this location if workers were trained to do everything as efficiently and quickly as possible. The cost is also astronomically high for chicken. A whole chicken is $31 before any taxes or fees. It's not competitive with other Korean fried chicken places and you have to imagine part of the cost is due to the location. I would be sad if this branch closed, since it is closest to where I live, but it wouldn't be a shock that it did close. There's a lot of low hanging easy changes that could be made. Better training from management, more local deals, and focusing on customer service.

We have been trying to eat here for MONTHS now. We came here about 4 months ago and he was sold out. It was only about 1:30, and we left highly disappointed.
