Rat droppings
Jennifer J.

We have a Terra cotta roof (beautiful Spanish style, but also very prone to rodents). I sent out the request to Julio and he was very quick to respond and come out for a quote. I was extremely impressed by his knowledge and expertise - and more importantly he didn't try to "sell" me anything if you know what I mean. He explained that my roof was prone to rodents and that the previous attic insulation installers missed a lot of mesh prepping and other preventative measures. Super impressed with his work and we hired him after getting several quotes - his was extremely competitive but most importantly I felt like he was honest and competent. He was very respectful of the house and offered great advice and information on pest control. William was also great at answering my questions and explaining the pest control process and upkeep options. It has been 2 months since my service and the spiders have decreased significantly, I will be calling William back for maintenance spraying!

I hired Omega for a WDO inspection and paid approximately $600 for the inspection report. What I…read morereceived was a combined report that included a substantial quote for repair work from Omega that I had never requested. I contacted the company and specifically asked for the inspection findings without the repair pricing. I was told they would not provide the report without the repair quote and that "a WDO inspection includes prices for repairs/work." My concern is straightforward: I requested and paid for an independent inspection, not a proposal to hire the inspecting company for thousands of dollars of repair work. The inspection findings should be clearly separable from an unsolicited sales estimate. Based on my experience, I would not use Omega again for a property inspection. Update: Omega responded that California law requires them to include repair pricing in the WDO report and that removing the pricing would violate the law. I reviewed the California Structural Pest Control Board materials. They require WDO inspection reports to include findings and recommendations for corrective measures. The Board's published statutory language separately states that an estimate or bid for repairs is provided if requested by the person who ordered the inspection report. I did not request a repair estimate or bid. I have therefore referred the question to the California Structural Pest Control Board for clarification.

Okay, I don't want to speak too soon, but I just had a rat slab installation done today and so far…read moreI'm very impressed. Background: 9 months ago we discovered rats had infiltrated the ducts in our crawl space. Ultimately we found they were tunneling under our shallow foundation, relentlessly. We'd fill and they'd create new tunnels the next day. We hired a crap company that charged us insane amounts of money only for them to come out armed with mass amounts of foam and call it a day. The exterior of our home was comical. Yellow foam everywhere. The rats kept tunneling. With rainy season approaching again, we decided to look into a more "final" option. We got a few quotes, and all were pretty comparable. However, I really liked our inspector Mike; he spent a lot of time here and was patient, answered all my questions, very amiable. He gave an overview of what would happen the day of the slab work should we choose to hire them, and I'm so pleasantly surprised that the schedule today went exactly as he said. Brandon (the owner) called a couple of days later to check in and I was able to get any further questions answered. We decided to move forward with the installation (scheduled for today). The crew was scheduled to arrive between 8-10am, and they did! A few arrived around 7:45 and started right away, and more and more workers showed up; each with different roles. It's truly a well-oiled machine; it's obvious they do this day in and day out. Night and day compared to the company we had previously hired. The morning started with clearing out the foam and crap work from the other company, cleaning debris and rodent-ridden insulation, vacuuming, prepping the crawl space with a vapor barrier. Throughout the whole day there were crew members walking all around the house and on top of the roof with buckets of concrete and mesh, filling holes, securing vents. The concrete truck arrived right on time and several of the workers suited up and spread concrete around for probably close to an hour. Afterward, everything was hosed down and my house looks better now than it did when they got here. Fingers crossed this does the trick, but the best part is it comes with a 7 year warranty (this was the longest any company I talked to had). It seems like they're able to offer this because they do such a thorough job. I hope I don't eat my words, but they've truly left such a good impression so I don't believe I will, and also, nobody even asked me to write this review! Pictures attached.

The guy who came out was on time, a bit eccentric and very passionate about rats. He was detail oriented and did a great job explaining the job and its breakdown. Unfortunately on the day of the job, we had 4 guys come to our home on time- but none of them spoke English. Now, I appreciate them coming out, but we just could not communicate and they did not have work trucks or shirts with their company name. An hour later, we had a younger guy show up and he spoke English. The crew worked really fast, did a nasty job of removing our rodent infested insulation and put in new insulation, they mixed concrete and patched up some holes as well and put out rat traps. They came back twice to check the traps and removed them. I think they did a good job, appreciate their punctuality. But management should always send someone who speaks some English and provide a company truck or at least shirts. I personally felt uncomfortable letting into my home a group of random men with no identification.
