My friend absolutely loves this place, and I go because I love her... but the day she lets me convince her to head further north or even south, it's over. My biggest gripe is the lack of a traditional seafood boil spread. No eggs, no potatoes (or maybe it's corn?), no hushpuppies, and they only offer head-on shrimp, etc. The wings took -- no exaggeration -- about 45 minutes for a count of six on a moderately busy day. There's also no hand-washing sink or station like most seafood boil spots have, which just feels odd. Overall, it doesn't give "seafood restaurant," it gives Tex-Mex mariscos. Very limited non-alcoholic drink options too. If you're here for the shrimp/crab only, great. Otherwise, there are better options. read more

The absolute worst seafood boil I've ever had! The restaurant was clean and the sever was very nice and that's the 1 star. They only have head-on shrimp which was so much work to eat, but at least they were tender. The sausage tasted like freezer burn and as if they had been made 3 days ago ana reheated. The corn was hard as a rock and also tasted like freezer burn. I don't think it was actually COOKED. The potatoes were nice and soft though. So I got the combined sauces in HOT and I didn't even feel any spice at all. Over all meh! Also my Dr. Pepper was flat and tasted like watered down off brand soda. 1 star is for their customer service We arrived at 10pm, we walked in right after a family of about 7. We were 5 and were told they were only doing to go orders. We drive a long way, I always rave about Rocking Crab because the food is good. So we decided to place our $100+ to go order after driving so far. We waited about 20 minutes we get our order and only got 2 small containers of butter. My daughter proceeds to go order more butter and she was told they don't have anymore because the ones we can see sitting on the counter are for to go orders. Then the young girl at the counter hears my daughter telling me and she says if you want to wait 15 minutes we can get you some butter. I said no!!! This was so ridiculous!!! She could have sold me the butter on the counter, and in 15 minutes she'd have more for to go orders. Management needs to train the entire staff (2 older women and 2 younger girls) at the counter on customer service. So disappointed! My husband had dined here recently and loved the food so I wanted to give them a try. This was my first "Cajun food in a bag" experience so I wasn't sure what to expect. They brought out plastic bibs and ginormous plastic gloves. I clumsily tried the gloves (think clown sized gloves) but unfortunately decided to forego the bib. Rocking Crab is a Korean-owned seafood restaurant with a unique taste I haven't found anywhere else that really speaks to Latinos. Or to put another way, Rocking Crab has a customer base is a majority Latino. The sauce that goes with the seafood at Rocking Crab is a style that I have not had before. I'm only familiar with Chinese, Viet-Cajun and NOLA style. And even then, my experience with NOLA style is limited. I haven't found another place with sauce similar to that of Rocking Crab's. Sauces were very good. Prices about average market price for seafood. I got the mild sauce on the side and Cajun and garlic butter in my bag. I also tried some of my friends who got the hot sauce. All the sauces were fantastic. The hot wasn't hot in my opinion but the flavor was really good. The restaurant was clean and service was good. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Rocking Crab's interior is very similar to BC. There are big wooden plank floors, booths, and chairs. Not sure if the staff would be happy if you wrote your name on it though. It's wasn't full on an early Friday evening (5:30). Not sure if it's a good sign or not. Since I have kids, waiting is no fun so it's a plus for me. 1 Star. Service - Our server was very nice, although the staff did appear to be quite young. While some reviewers pointed out issues with service, ours was very good with the basics. Our order was taken quickly, food came out fast, drinks constantly refilled, & buckets of crawfish shells cleared when full. Our main issue is we ordered 3 extra ears of corn, and something got lost in translation because we ended up with like 6 extra orders (3 per order). I don't think they understood, nor did they remove it from our bill. 1/2 Star. Food - Ok, I'll start with the crawfish. They're a very nice size & fresh with no "dead" ones in the mix. This place is really easy to find and there were no issues with parking or waiting. In fact, there were only 3 other tables on a Sunday night so I hope they make it. Ordered the fries like everyone else to munch on while we decided on 2lbs of craw fish and the number 3 combo: shrimp and crab legs. Around 40 bucks for all of that and a beer. The young man kept coming by to make sure we were happy patrons. *thumbs up* So something interesting with the sauce that I was not prepared for even though I read the reviews was that there is soooo much raw garlic in it. When you order your plastic bag of yumminess it comes doused in red "cajun-flavored" sauce with enough raw garlic in it to ensure none of us will ever become vampires. As a garlic fan I loved it, even though I brushed my teeth twice already and can still taste it the next day, but I know everyone can't possibly like that. So garlic haters please be warn. But I'm sure if you told the waitstaff you're not into garlic they would remove it for you. I also got medium spice sauce with the extra hot on the side to see if it was spicy at all. And verdict is- even the medium spicy sauce got me sweating a bit but I think it has a better flavor than the extra hot. Overall the craw fish and crab legs were good. I was a little disappointed with the shrimp as my whole bag with the exception of one or two were kind of old and hard to peel. The sauce is really the issue making me unsure whether to give this place a 3 or a 4. For me it didn't taste like cajun, but Korean. And yes, I know it's in K-town but still. If you're going to say it's cajun, make it so. I personally think the sauce could be used as a badass marinade for pork or something. So grill that ish and give me some rice. :P read more

I got the crawfish and Cajun fries. The crawfish sauce is similar to the Boiling Crab and Tasty Tails but not as thick. It's still really good though. I got two pounds but it had to be more like 3 pounds! That's the right type of problem to have! Lol. The server was terrific! I wish I remembered her name. They give you this funny looking bib that looks like it was cut in half. We were obviously struggling so one of the employees came over to help us. You kind of had to peel it open to reveal the entire thing; kind of like two-ply paper towels except it doesn't pull apart. I work at a restaurant, that is definitely not something a restaurant should be doing, but they agreed and ordered. We wanted to try boiling crawfish but they were closed. So we found rocking crab that closes at midnight and decided to give it a try. I'm not comparing Boiling to Rocking because I have never been to Boiling. Parking was horrible outside, so I was assuming it was from the Rocking Crab but there were only few customers there. We had 4 pounds of crawfish. I do like the freshness of the crawfish and its probably in season. The crawfish were not flavorful or anything. It seemed like it was just boiled and the sauce were poured over the crawfish. The sauce was not Louisiana style. I'm a pretty disappointed at this place. The service wasn't great. Waited until we finished our food to get refills for our drinks. We finished and waited like 20 minutes to get our check. Well actually they never came so we had to go to them and ask them to check us out. They were taking care of other big groups. I don't think I would be coming back until their cooking is improved. Their bathroom were very messy. Paper towels were everywhere in the sink, trash can were full so there were paper all over the floors. They had no soap which is a no no at a crawfish restaurant. This place is my favorite place to go in the DFW area. I come to eat here maybe 1-2 times a week. The flavors of the shrimp is phenomenal! Also out of all the places I've tried out this place seems to be the most affordable. Their menu is plain and simple which is just what I need. But unfortunately there is a con about this place which is the quality of service from their servers. It seems like once they take your oder and deliver your food, they disappear. Once I called to ask the restaurant what their hours were during 4th of July (this was a few days before the actual holiday) and no one picked up, later that day I went to eat there and I noticed that they would let their phone ring until the caller hangs up. Sometimes the servers would sit behind the register and be on their phones. We would have to wave them down to get our check or we would have to wait for long periods of time before they would come and refill our drinks. I visit Dallas a lot for business trips and I went to Rocking Crab twice during my one week stay there. So I can say this is my number one seafood joint in Dallas. You can pick mild, hot or blazing hot on the spicy level so no problem. If it is too spicy then you can ask for a side sauce of mild. Warning, this place is a lot of fun and get ready to get your hands dirty. I heard that everything is bigger in Texas and this place proves it; the shrimp is huge and the king crab legs was not disappointing. And don't forget the lobster. I suggest for 3 people ordering 2 pounds of shrimp. For 4 people, we ordered 3 pounds of king crab, 2 pounds of shrimp. Order a side of steamed rice or fries to with your meal and must pour the sauce over the rice or dip your fries in the sauce.
