First time trying Mariscos la Marina on Saturday night with the family. We were in the mood for drinks and appetizers and got just that, plus a karaoke show! It wasn't very busy but the woman singing karaoke did a great job at singing and providing the vibes. I got the shrimp cocktail and it was just what I needed to satisfy my cravings. My cousin got the chicken quesadilla that was also so good, the shrimp tacos were just okay. The queso wasn't the best and the guac lacked some seasoning, but still good. Craving seafood in Irving Texas. This restaurant is close to Irving Mall and about 15 min from our hotel. We had a big group of teens and the staff was very accommodating when we came in. Service was fast and efficient and our server was on point. Se was quick about refills and was really nice since we asked to have the checks split amongst us. The menu had a huge variety of meals. We ordered a combination plate for two. It consisted of two shrimp cocktails .. two ceviche tostada .. two fish each .. 4 shrimp each and it was a lot of good for $35. Met some coworkers after work. Lunch specials last until 4:00. Happy hour starts around 3:30. I had Cesar's tacos, three street tacos with beans and rice. The food: it came out quickly, the beef was seasoned to perfection, the beans and rice were delicious as well. The chips and salsa tasted fresh and homemade. Very tasty. Everyone at my table indicated their food was excellent. Ambiance: was typical kind of hole in the wall seating area. Plenty of room for our group. The Service was spot on. Mari, et al made sure our needs were met. Cost for my meal with a beer was right at $12.00. Can't beat the price! I will be returning soon! read more

The $3.99 lunch special they advertise outside is for margaritas that are mostly water. They do have $8.99 lunch specials but was told that it's only for weekdays, well I'm here on a Friday and they won't honor it. They also limited me to 1 drink because they ran out and won't make more. read more

Great food! The whole fried fish is what my husband always comes back for! I have had a few things that I love so far. My daughter and I enjoy the fish soup; the combination fajitas for two have enough to feed three! SO good! My brother ordered the shrimp enchiladas and LOVED them! We also love the shrimp cocktail. Plenty of seating to not feel like we are crowded during this pandemic. The only thing in didn't like is that they charge for every single thing extra, i.e. sour cream, cheese and more tortillas. We went last year at Christmas (2019) and paid an entrance fee to attend their Christmas Silent Auction fund raiser. The live music was a young group of teenagers (can't remember group name) and they had KNON as DJ and Emcees. It was so fun we even got up and danced. I got the seafood stew (guiso de mariscos), and (1) there was nothing stew-like about it, (2) it featured some of the smallest scallops, squid, and shrimp I've ever seen, and (3) there was a pretty thick film of grease on the plate. Horrible service. The waitress forgot the kids order, then when the food finally came, they forgot one order. It was like pulling teeth to get some tortillas. We asked a good 5-6 times and had to get the manager just to get some tortillas, which by the way took him 10 seconds to pull from the kitchen. I ordered shrimp ceviche and it turned out to be fish ceviche with some shrimp thrown on top. I thought it was shrimp with some pico de Gallo on a tostada. I went in during the afternoon and overall its a great place with plentiful seafood selections. They have Redfish that can be cooked fried, steamed or blackened. I wemt for six oysters and the Vuelve a la Vida cocktail. The oysters were a little small but the seafood cocktail was very good. The octopus, shrimp, cevuche were excellent. Wow as good as it can be, finally found somewhere in Texas that blew me away. I want to say I had a fair amount of Mexican food in California, however, I didn't know Mexican restaurants do seafood like this. Had the whole fried fish, with the sides for a total of $13. It's one of the best if not the best "mariscos" restaurants in the Dallas area. Maxi can style sea food. This is our go to place for fried while red snapper covered in a garlic sauce with diced tomatoes. Had a "vampiro" to drink. Translated is vampire. Made with tequila, sooo good!!! Warning: If you like seafood, as much as I do, this place is addictive!! I stumbled upon this restaurant during a visit to Dallas. I was looking for good seafood place, that is casual, not snobbish, also, a place where I can taste real seafood flavor (I grow up eating wild caught, real seafood and whole fish, Vs farm-raised fish fillet that tastes more like chicken lol). So satisfied and I'm curious to explore the rest of the menu. The portions here are heaping! I had half an order of oysters and the guisada de Mariscos with a Coralejo. The coralejo here is basically a Paloma in a clay cup. So the food was very tasty and well seasoned. I didn't see horseradish for the oysters but it is a Mexican restaurant it's not common but it would've been perfect. I didn't know where to attack my entree but I mostly enjoyed the calamari and clams in it. The rice provided a good escape from the heat. I also had a chocoflan I want to say nothing special but come on it's chocoflan. It's already special. The service was okay we weren't given water with our drinks and our table wobbled. They had a disco ball and music , unfortunately the music choice was depressing and they had tv screens where I was trying to enjoy twilight in Spanish but I couldn't hear it. We were invited here for lunch today by friends to try the Red Snapper w Garlic Sauce. Not sure about their other dishes, but this was by far the best deep fried whole red snapper I have ever had. My wife being a huge seafood lover (not!) ordered chicken salad and she liked it. So even if you are with someone who is less passionate about the under water delicacies, it's worth going for the snapper, just get him or her the chicken salad and crack some jokes to distract them while you pick the last pieces of meat out of the fish bone. The picture shows the size of it after he has almost annihilated it. Easily a full pound of meat and it cost $12.You cannot find that anywhere! I got a house specialty dish. It came with 3 delicious filets of fish (really well seasoned), oysters, clams, squid, and half a crab. The crab melted in my mouth. Ordered a marisco molcajete and was equally disappointed. The beef was super chewy. The breaded Fish is cheap greasy tilapia. All topped with cheese that turns clear after a while.
