This was my FIRST time coming here. We getting my car fixed and seen this gem only .3 miles away so we decided to walk to kill time(it started raining while walking). Once we got there I was soo surprised that they had a large menu. We wanted something light because we had other things to do and didn't want to be soo full, we get sleepy..lol We ended up ordering the fried green tomatoes(OMG they were my top 3) very flavorful the dipping saiss(was definitely homemade) they were cut perfectly, not too thick or thin in size. The fried fish(mouth watering) the fish was seasoned perfectly the light crush when your teeth hits the fish. Top 3 as well with the fish. I was quite surprised that this place wasn't like a shake on the corner. Walked in and it clean and spacious. The guy was wiping down the table and I smelled a little bit of bleach. Yes! Kill those germs!! I'd give them 3.5 stars because I didn't taste any seasoning on the fish or the fries. It was disappointing. Catfish House is one of my favorite local restaurants to go to for a quick bite to eat. Don't be put off by the building's appearance; it still has an oldern school feel to it. The inside is also really nice, with a lot of fish and great pun jokes, so take a look around; it's a site to behold. When it comes to the food, my go-to is usually the two fillet basket, which is enough for one person. The fillet itself is always nicely fried, so it has a nice crunch to it, not to mention the inside is always steaming hot, so it's just a great combination. The fries themselves are usually served warm, and they're not the crunchy type, so they're soft but delicious. Finally, it includes a pair of hushpuppies, which are often soft and offer a nice flavor to everything. My significant other's favorite is the 4 shrimp 1 fillet basket, which is similar to mine but includes shrimp instead of two fillets. The shrimp are also very tasty; they're fried and have a soft, yet subtle crunch to them, and they're usually quite flavorful. Not to mention that they serve you this dipping sauce that just enhances everything; it makes the fillet/shrimp taste extremely good. You also get ketchup with the fries, but I always dip my fries in the other sauce because it's so flavorful. Furthermore, they have desserts, which this time I chose their cookie, which is super large, the picture doesn't do it justice, but it was dark chocolate, which isn't my favorite, but it was still very appetizing, a cheat I would recommend is to ask for it to be heated for you so that it's warm and the chocolate is melted, which I'm sure you can do with other desserts as well if you wish. Overall, this is a solid four star restaurant for me since they are extremely consistent with their taste, I've never had a terrible experience with the staff, and it is a really warm friendly place. If you are ever in the area and looking for some excellent seafood, I would definitely recommend it. read more

The fish and shrimp were cooked and seasoned well but the sauce they serve in the pump dispenser was bad. I don't understand because the sauce they give you with the meal is great. The problem is they charge you for that sauce. The tarter sauce in the pump is terrible, just a warning. If they didn't charge for the stuff over the counter I'd go there a little more often but Flying Fish is a good substitute if you don't want to pay for sauce out of principle. read more

Dinner was served here. If you appreciate seafood like I do, this is a good option. They serve some excellent oysters. My favorite was the moo moo, which was also one of the larger ones. Grilled salmon, oysters, and fish fillet were our main courses. We enjoyed the grilled oysters and fish fillets, which came with a wonderful dipping sauce. The fries had just been fried. However, the portions are small so don't come here if you're starving, unless you're going to order two meals! First time eating catfish as we were visiting the Dallas-area for the week. Cornmeal breading was used on my catfish and jumbo shrimp which were cooked to perfection. Loved the hush puppies they served. Some were spicy with jalapeño, while I had a few that were not spicy. My meal came with fries also. A little pricy for fish and fries, but the flavor was good. There are plenty of condiments to use on your fish or fries as well as lemon wedges. They also had chicken tenders available as well as frog legs and oysters. Noticed that their desserts looked very good but was too full to try them. The inside of the restaurant itself is nothing too fantastic. What can I say about this place.... Never been in this area and will most likely never be back. Catfish house had top ratings for this area and I'm sure the locals love it. Bldg is located in an industrial area, interior is very... uh, I can't explain properly but it all seems nice and "fishy" (lol) until you look up at the ceiling or the corners of the room and the restroom. Tidy is a word that does not exist here. Now for food & price: a little on the expensive side for a lunch. Catfish was good but thin. My po-boy sandwich came with 2 thin slivers of chicken strips, which were moist and nicely battered but one or two more would actually make this a sandwich worth the price.
