The day I stopped dining here was shorty after my September birthday. (ordered food worked an extra long shift that day, kitchen closed food never received) Happy birthday to me. That's not the reason for my absence. If you do, find yourself at one of their not so fine establishments, just run your hands across your table if you dare. If thats not enough to gross you out then check out one of the restrooms, super hot with limited ventilation if any. Certainly, a breeding ground for more germs. There are so many good things to say about Mama's Daughter that I'm not sure where to start. The cooking is perfect. The chicken fried steak is crisp and juicy. So is the chicken fried chicken. The gravy has a fantastic texture and is peppered just right. You'll want it on everything! The green beans with bacon are addicting. The cornbread is wonderful. The only thing here I'd pass on are the peaches because they're literally swimming in sugar syrup. Everything else is delicious. There's not a bad order to be ordered. The daily meat and three special gives you a an entrée plus three sides at under $12. It's a steal of a value. The only thing of better value is the service. You'll feel like you're a regular even if it's your first time. Staff is just attentive enough without being overbearing. They'll have that refill just before you realized you wanted it. That check will arrive just before you're ready to go. Their grins and pleasantries won't stop. The vibe makes you feel at a distant relatives home. Getting a table might be tough at lunch and especially after church hours. Arrive early, because even the small parking lot is tough to navigate. If you have a large truck this could be a problem. It was okay. We were the only people in there under the age of 60 if that tells you anything about the food. The waitress was nice & service was okay. Food came out fast but was very bland. Ordered thru Uber- I had to come make a review. There is not an ounce of seasoning in anything. I got fried catfish, mashed potatoes, navy beans and a side of fried chicken. The navy beans look and tasted like it was poured out of the can and warmed up- no seasoning and had more of the canned juice than beans. Mashed potatoes reminded me of the cheap flaky mashed potatoes they served in school 25 years ago. Brown gravy tasted like nothing and had a texture of gelatinous liquid. The fried fish was just covered in cornmeal and fried, not even a sprinkle of salt or pepper or anything. And the fried chicken tasted like old grease and looked like old chicken that was warmed up, definitely not fresh. Oh and they didn't even put any eating utensils in the bag as I requested. I'm in a hotel as I'm in Texas for business so that was fun. Everything about what I ordered was awful and waste of my company's money. Anywhere but here. I'm not sure how they're even open, the chicken alone has me wondering about what's going on in the kitchen. read more

I ate here this morning for breakfast. The food was okay, but not $25 ok! I had the #3 and added a side of grits, along with coffee and orange juice. I ordered the eggs over medium(came out over easy) and I had a , regular bacon(came out burnt). The bacon got replaced, and the waitress kept trying to talk me into a bigger bowl of grits, saying it was more cost efficient. Grits were nice and thick like I like them, but no flavor at all. The biscuits and gravy and decent size biscuits, but not enough gravy for both of them. Service checked on me for refills, but something that I noticed was regulars that were treated differently. Not to big of a deal until I started hearing employees talk to customers about other employees that apparently took the day off and the policy is if you call in, then its an automatic you have the next day off too. Also how this employees sister was on the run and how bounty hunters showed up yesterday at the diner. Im no lawyer, but I know I wouldn't want my business being told to the general public. Food came out quick, hot, exactly as ordered, and delicious. I loved that the pepper shakers had big holes in them, too! I don't need to spend 5 minutes shaking pepper out of a pepper shaker. Give me one with big holes in it. I'm an adult. I can decide the amount of black pepper that I want. Stop expecting more from a diner than what it is, people. Breakfast food is where a diner is always going to shine. Everything else is going to be pretty hit-or-miss. At least, that's been my experience. Been eating here for many years. Today's lunch needs describing. It's gone downhill in the last few years. The only things I enjoyed today are the mashed potatoes and the rolls. The potatoes were real and the rolls were very good. The fried okra was frozen an could only be described as something green in a batter. The gravy was like paste. The chicken fried steak was bad. Strange flavor and not fresh cooked. Dried out and more batter than meat. Update. The broccoli and cheese was nasty and cold. Rolls would not melt warm butter. Probably won't be back. Went here for breakfast on a Tuesday, it's a very small place. We were seated and I ordered a Chicken sandwich and hash browns. The good came fast and the waitress was very nice. I think the sandwich was very good but the hashbrowns were a bit too potato tasting. The whole bill was under $20 for 2 people. I'd definitely come back. I come here usually 2-3 times per month. I enjoy the catfish and all the food. I told the waitress my salad with grilled chicken was dry on last visit. I asked her to make sure it wasn't dry. She noted on the ticket for the cook to not over cook the chicken. Well it was like beef jerky and seemed old. They apologized but did nothing to make it right. Very disappointed today.
