We had seen the place on Yelp and planned to grab something quick to go, but it turned into a great stop. The location is fantastic and convenient near the airport. The hostess was welcoming right away and directed us to the bar so we could place a quick to-go order. At the bar, the bartender gave excellent service and convinced us to try a couple of tacos along with the yuca fries and plantains we originally planned to order--and I'm glad he did. The Tacos Al Carbón were outstanding: grilled fajita beef with sautéed poblano and onion on flour tortillas topped with pico de gallo and guacamole. The steak was tender and full of flavor. The beans and rice were just right, and the plantains with coconut sauce were a perfect addition. The bartender also recommended a Stone Delicious IPA, which made the short wait enjoyable. We grabbed a Tamarindo agua fresca and bolitas de yuca for the road--light, flavorful, and perfect for the drive. Great food, great service, and a great find near the airport. Definitely worth stopping in.

Low lighting, beautiful glassware, just an all around vibe. They were pretty slow but it was also a Wednesday night. Drinks were amazing and they had a lot of options. I got the Guava Sunset and it was so refreshing (pictured). We also got the ceviche which tasted very fresh and was a good portion for an appetizer. The filet was perfectly cooked and the chimichurri sauce was to die for. I forgot to take a picture of it because we dug in as soon as it landed on the table. Service felt very personable which I enjoyed. They also gave my date a rose at the end of our meal to give to me which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, great first impression and we will definitely be back! Or I may even bring the girlies for a girls night! Side note.. I'm not sure why reviews are so negative, as new restaurants deserve grace while they figure out what works for them and I think we all need to have a little patience and understanding.

Parking is difficult, yes I understand it's in Bishop…read moreArts however, I've been to numerous restaurants in that area and it hasn't been nearly this hard. I ended up grabbing street parking a few blocks over with a 2-Hr limit. Next, we had reservations at 8 PM and there really weren't many guests, which is pretty off for dinner time. The ambiance and overall aesthetic of the space is nice. The music isn't loud so you can easily carry a conversation. My personal highlight from the night was the complimentary alcohol-free shot the very kind bartender provided for me. I'm sober so I appreciated feeling like everyone else! Lastly, the food was terrible and over priced. I was hoping to like the lobster bisque but was greatly disappointment. It taste like velvetta cheese and was extremely bland and lumpy. Almost like they receive it frozen and heat it up before serving. Out of all the 4 dishes, only the lamb chops were really good. One of my friends got the chicken Alfredo and said it taste like warmed up Olive Garden. My other friend got the Carne de Fuego which is suppose to be Waygu beef and wasn't. With a price of $59 with ONLY 4 pieces of asparagus as a side, we were expecting more. I ended up sending the lobster bisque back and settling for the caesar salad (no protein) which was $15.

You are allowed to order 3 dishes each round for the apps. They come around with the pasta and meat portions. Bad thing is that you can never say no! Ambiance: it felt so cute and cozy! There was live music and gave such a homey vibe for a high scale restaurant. Looking around, every table was there to celebrate some kind of event so make sure to make reservations! Service 5/5: we made reservations prior and we came for a birthday celebration. Our server was AMAZING. he explained everything to us and gave recs! I wish I got his name but he was fantastic! Took care of us and always checked in :) Parking: free parking around the building!

The concept was a delight, all you can eat course dining where you can try everything and order more of what you like. When you sit down, they bring each of the four course out in full to your table and give you time to enjoy each plate. The first course was a simple course of a light cheese dumpling soup and warm fresh bread with a variety of spreads. We found this course an excellent introduction and the soup was exceptionally executed. The second course was a course of appetizers. This is the course we liked the best, the large number of small plates really made the meal feel lavish and each dish was high quality and made with care. I loved the grilled cheese and the spiced apple sauce served with the chicken was delicious. The third course was the entree course, consisting of a number of grilled steaks, poultry, and pasta dishes. The chicken was a bit salty for my tastes but the pasta and the steaks were competently prepared. Lastly, the fourth course was a delightful dessert consisting of flan, chocolate mousse, and a passion fruit mousse. The passion fruit mousse was especially good, but I think each of the desserts worked well to balance each other out. I would like to see dessert with some more variety of texture. The service was perfect, our waiters came around at just the right times and took care to tell us about the dishes on offer. I was equally impressed with the atmosphere. Overall, the dinner price is a little steep, but I think it is well worth it. We will certainly be returning!

The restaurant itself is always clean and orderly. And the staff is always friendly and efficient. My favorite go-tos are the Queso Blanco and the Chicken Fajitas. The Queso is second to none. The Chicken Fajitas always have a nice wood grilled flavor to them that is sure to please you! A few times I have made it to dessert, but not very often. My favorite dessert herebis the churros. They are delicious in their own right, but they also give you different dipping sauces like chocolate, caramel, or even a vanilla cream. They are served hot and fresh!

This is a small place, so basically we have 6-7 tables and we went on a Friday afternoon after lunch rush and got the last table. The word is out! The folks inside were super nice. All three of the people that came by to refill coffee and water and to check on us (multiple times) were very nice. We were fortunate to arrive at the perfect time for a Saturday morning, as we would find out in just a few minutes, as we watched the wait list grow. This being our first time, we weren't sure of the seating situation. I walked to the back, where the to-go pick up was located, to find that we can sit anywhere and that someone would come and help us. We did, and they did. I suggest you stop in and give Curuba a try. Very reasonable prices, lots of menu choices, wonderful staff, oh, did I mention the coffee? I love dark roast coffee, "Just black, please". This Columbian coffee is dark, rich, smooth and flavorful with an aroma that hits the senses with every taste. If you're a dark roasted coffee fan, stop in for a cup to go. You'll be back. And even better, the coffee comes from Columbia. They purchase it from a local importer (I believe). They provided the url via QR code. We believe in the "Buy local" philosophy. It's nice to see businesses doing business with local businesses. THE BAD: It's a small restaurant. Making a reservation (Open Table) is likely a good idea. We happened to find it at a slow moment on a Saturday morning. OVERALL: We're fans. I'd love to take our friends and family for lunch, or tell them about our new find. However, there are some things better kept to oneself.

A Home-Cooked Feel with a Few Rough Edges…read more My first visit to Dona Maria started on a positive note with a warm, friendly greeting that made me feel welcome right away. I ordered the Calisticas with chicken and the Pernil (braised pork). The crispy plantains were one of the highlights of the meal, providing a nice texture and crunch. The pork was tender and juicy, although I unexpectedly encountered a large bone joint in one portion. The chicken cups were less successful. They were noticeably oily and lacked the juicy, flavorful bite I was expecting. The standout flavor of the meal was actually the chimichurri sauce. It added brightness and depth, and I found myself pouring it over nearly everything on the plate. Overall, the experience felt very much like eating at a friend's home--comforting, unpretentious, and made with care. That home-style atmosphere extended to the food preparation as well, which appeared informal (I did see prep without gloves) and may not appeal to guests who expect a more polished restaurant experience. While there were some enjoyable elements, particularly the hospitality, plantains, pork, and chimichurri, the execution of several dishes was inconsistent. A decent meal with a welcoming spirit, but not one that fully lived up to its potential.

When we first walked in, we stood at the front door for about six minutes with no acknowledgment from any staff. It became obvious no one was coming to seat us, so I had to walk toward the back and ask someone if we could be seated. That should have been the first red flag. After finally being seated, it took nearly twenty minutes for someone to come take our order. Now, over an hour later, we are still sitting here without food. No updates. No apologies. No sense of urgency. This level of service is completely unacceptable. Waiting over an hour for food without any communication is ridiculous. Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend this restaurant based on the service alone.

The restaurant is very small and has only one toilet in the women's restroom and one in the men's, which is especially inconvenient when serving large parties. The fried bananas were flavorless, drinks do not come with refills, and they don't have cups with lids for children to help prevent accidental spills. The chicken lasagna from the salad bar was good, and the fresh limeade was definitely a highlight. At $40 per person, it is about $10-$15 cheaper than some competitors, but the lower price was reflected in the overall experience. I would rather spend a little more elsewhere for better accommodations and a more enjoyable group dining experience.
