And…read moresince my review is still up, where I say how delicious their egg salad sandwich is, I thought I'd update it. The disappointment came in two steps. First, over time, they switched from white bread to whole wheat, which I can understand if they want it to appear healthier. Now it wasn't delicious anymore, but still acceptable. More recently, when I tried it again, the taste seemed off. To my taste, the recipe has changed. I didn't just try one, I tried a second sandwich as well. It is no longer even okay. I will no longer purchase it.

Conveniently located near Duke's, there's one outdoor table nearby, but really, just pick up a sandwich and take it to the beach! Staff was very friendly. Plenty of options for sandwiches and salads (and maybe more options, just what I noticed). I got the tuna sandwich and added a slice of pepper jack. I said no mayo or mustard, though I'd probably recommend mayo. There are so many veggies that it needs a little sauce. The veggies make you feel like you're eating something super healthy! There wasn't a ton of tuna in the sandwich, but half was filling enough for me. I'll save the rest for tomorrow.

Gluten free granola, dried goji berries were amazing, blueberries and bananas with chia seeds. Everything was so fresh. I deducted a star because my papaya bowl had two spoons full of fruit. I felt that they could have picked better papayas for this item if the main focus is on the papaya. I have seen other places with bigger and meatier papayas for their bowls, but it had yogurt in it and I didn't want that so I tried this place instead for the around the same price, $15 almost after tax. Lots of seating outside. Customer service was okay. All the employees seem so busy they didn't have time to smile.

This place was just two blocks away, so we braved the November misty rain and consistent wind through the buildings to make it over here. To be fair, this seemed more like a Vietnamese coffee joint and a Banh Mi place... so maybe coming here for pho wasn't our best idea. They had two kinds available that night-- beef and chicken. Since chicken pho is not something I'm willing to try, we both ordered up the dac biet. The broth was bland with a thin and unpleasant veil of grease along the top that congealed quickly on the rim of the bowl. It wasn't hot enough, or maybe the pre-cooked and chilled noodle block they poured it over cooled it off. Meat was chewy and low quality. The sprouts and basil were soggy and wilted. Honestly, it was a get up and leave kind of thing. The whole place was just dingy and didn't feel great. I've eaten at some very modest places in my native San Gabriel Valley in Southern California, so it's not a snobbery thing. It's a "someone get a Swiffer wet jet and some paper towels and give this whole place a once-over. Speaking of once, that's the sum total of times we'll ever eat here. For some reason, I totally forgot that good acai could be found in Hawaii!! Hello!! Its not just the fresh fish ya'll I walked here and there was still a line by 7, and even longer one when I went the next day, but it does move quite fast, especially with some of the workers letting people know they have a sit down resturant next door so just food for thought if you want more actual food options! As it stands they have quite an extensive list of juice, coffee, acai. I decided to go with a more basic route but instead subbing my fruit for what was in season which was mango, lilikoi and lychee. You order at the front and they call your number. They have some seating around as well but if you're at the hawaiian center you can just sit downstairs. The fruit alone was out of this world. I was actually so focused on that I wasn't even thinking about if the acai was good which I think it was! It comes out rather creamy, not frozen or icy. The price is a little steeper than what I've had in the past but honestly the fresh fruit alone made it extremely worth it. A regular sized bowl was quite filling! I came back the next day and it was still just as good. I know some people probably prefer different locations than others but I can rep this one for sure. Its in a very touristy place, maybe even the mecca so if you want to avoid that then avoid any location in waikiki
