We go there a ton and we do like their pizza. We also go to Mod in a pinch, but i have been craving some real pizza I of course checked yelp to find any place remotely close to us and I found Angelina's. I was sold with her amazing replies to the misguided idiots who think this pizza place is anything less than amazing. I had been CRAVING a decent pizza. It's been since my last trip out of state since I've had anything remotely like traditional, cheesy, crunchy, savory goodness. After work on a Friday, my husband and I trekked over to Mayo. We wanted to check out the selection of desserts and settled on the yummy looking cannoli and went back out to our car to phone in our order. The place smells amazing. It's a legit pizza place and everything I was expecting. We waited an acceptable amount of time and went in for our pizza. The car smelled so good on our 40 min drive back home. We got home and honestly no one waited to reheat the pizza. We all just dove into the enormous, cheesy, deliciousness we had been waiting so long for. I was not disappointed. We have put Angelina's on our list of places to go. Worth the drive. Worth the wait. Worth it.

Sometimes you find a place that is so pure, and that produces such satisfying food, that it…read moreelevates its otherwise casual, small and mundane profile. Such is Angelina's in Edgewater. The place is located in a non-descript and, dare I say, run-down, strip shopping center (even that is too big and fancy a phrase for this establishment). The atmosphere is almost jarring, no organization, supplies are strewn about all over the place. There are signs everywhere: (1) the menu is on the wall; and (2) whining costs you $5.00 extra; and (3) you can work here but you have to be able to lift 60 pound bags of flour; and so on and so on. Family pictures are left, haphazardly on the counter and placed on the walls as if someone happened to be exiting the building during a fire alarm. It's kind of a mess. But, I tell you, the sandwiches I had there were some of the best Italian subs I have ever had. The meats were high quality. The add-ons were fresh, plentiful and beautifully balanced - just enough spice, just enough mayo, just enough oregano. The Italian dressing was excellent. The bun was substantial, strong enough to contain its ingredients and cushiony soft. Baked just that morning, said the owner, Angelina. Let's talk about Angelina. No nonsense. Get'er done. She is there for 1 reason - to make you the best food she can possibly put together. She's a little bit New York and a little bit of red neck Maryland, all balled up into the perfect SNL character. I heard about her difficulty hiring hard working people, I heard about her daughters, I heard about how tired she was today, I heard her say to call in my order next time because she doesn't like people waiting at the counter. In short, I love Angelina's Italian Kitchen. I look forward to my next meal from her. She is a gem and I hope she never closes her store. I highly recommend Angelina's Italian Kitchen.

This restaurant has changed owners and will soon change names. I have had better experiences here…read morein the past. I guess I caught them on an off night. Ambiance: Modern and sassy, but can be loud. I'd say it has a very energetic vibe. Not very intimate because of the, sometimes boisterous, patronage. There is a new dress code, but I didn't see it being enforced on a few. Not somewhere to have a quiet refined dinner, at least on a Saturday. However, there is outside seating, which actually is a little more relaxed, if the weather is cooperative. App steak rolls: These are always a hit when going here. Sadly I think these are going away because the new owners want a more authentic Italian restaurant. Steaks: We ordered 3 10 oz filets. 2 were cooked perfectly, the third was very rare in the center when all of them were supposed to be medium. Part of me thinks the back got the order wrong somehow, because the two others were perfect. Very strange. Truffle Fries: Very yummy, although to me, I felt it needed a tad bit more salt, but there is salt on the table as needed. I would definitely order these fries again.

The bar was loud and lively around happy hour, while the patio was much quieter and gave us a more relaxed place to enjoy dinner. I wasn't very familiar with the Italian wines, so I asked our waiter for a recommendation. He brought me a sample before I ordered a full glass, which was a thoughtful touch. His recommendation was excellent. My partner ordered the Pineapple Tiki Old Fashioned and she loved it. The filet mignon sliders were delicious. My Black Linguine Arrabbiata had a little spicy kick and was very good, with calamari, clams, mussels, crab meat, and spicy marinara. The one disappointment was the tiramisu, which neither of us cared for. Our waiter was helpful and attentive throughout the meal without making us feel rushed. Between the food, thoughtful service, and comfortable outdoor seating, we had a very enjoyable evening. The lively interior is a good option if you want more energy, but the patio was perfect for a quieter meal in the beautiful weather. We'd happily return, but we'd probably choose a different dessert next time.

The feta chunks neither added nor detracted from the dish. A dollop of mascarpone or ricotta would have given it an even richer, meltier finish. Heck even a whipped feta would've added more depth. The blend of meats was outstanding with a pleasant kick of spice, while the mellow, flavorful marinara had a thinner consistency that made it perfect for crostini dipping. Lobster RavioliThe sauce was unquestionably the star of the show. The pasta tasted homemade with a wonderful texture. Unfortunately, the lobster seemed either overcooked or not at its freshest, as it had a noticeable fishy flavor and a chewy texture. The fresh lump crab, however, made for an excellent garnish and added a bright, sweet contrast. Smoked Pineapple Rum Old FashionedThe pineapple-infused rum came through nicely, giving the cocktail great flavor. The smoke, however, was much more subtle than I expected. I knew it had been smoked because the bartender presented it with a plastic smoking device over the glass. I was anticipating the more dramatic wood-smoke presentation under a glass dome that I'm accustomed to. It was also missing the classic Luxardo or maraschino cherry garnish, and without any garnish at all, it felt like it was missing that final finishing touch. OverallWhile it didn't quite reach Feed My Soul status, everything was genuinely good. An added bonus is that it's within walking distance of Maryland Hall, making it a perfect stop before or after a show. ServiceFriendly staff and impressively fast service. The food arrived much quicker than expected.

The Alce con Riserva di Marsala Pama elk farm strip loin was flavorful and perfectly tender.
