While he didn't know my name, he waved hello from the table he was sitting at and quickly jumped to take our dine in order. I've been wanting to try Happy House again since moving back to the area, so I decided to give it a…read moreshot this week. When I walked in, the guy working was sitting at the front counter and looked genuinely disappointed that he had to get up. I figured maybe that was just a rough moment and it would pass once I greeted him and asked if their lasagna was made in house. Instead, I got a smirk, a fake smile, and a quick "yes." Encouraged by that glowing endorsement, I ordered the in-house made lasagna and a medium cheese pizza. Once I got home, I took two bites of the lasagna and couldn't tell if it was actually made in house with absolutely no seasoning whatsoever, or if it was pulled straight from a freezer and reheated. Either way, it was impressively bland. The pizza wasn't much better. It was light on sauce, light on flavor, and required me to add my own spices just to make it taste like something. For $29 for lasagna and a medium cheese pizza, I expected at least one of the two items to have some flavor. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Needless to say, I won't be returning.

It's a little tricky to find the first time, but SO worth it! The pizza is fabulous. A legit brick oven in the kitchen makes it truly authentic. The drinks are served with pasta straws, which is fun. The Happy Hour menu has enough to fulfill dinner most nights with $12 personal pizzas in cheese or pepperoni and several other apps. The house made pasta is gnocchi, and because everything is made from scratch to order, they're happy to mix and match. If they've got it, they'll make it for you. My favorite is the gnocchi with arrabiata sauce and shrimp; not on the menu, but they make it every time!! We've sat in both rooms and at the bar, and the service is great no matter your location.
