We asked Robert to come out and assess why the side yard was still puddling which he did. He gave an estimate to add another drain and set a date to start work in January. Three months later, we have not heard from him. We attempted several times to contact him prior to and after the start date through calls and texts and he never responded. After giving him work on two projects this would be the third. We don't know what happened, however it is very unprofessional to treat a customer this way especially a repeat customer. Our project was delayed while we went through the time consuming process of getting estimates again to hire another company. We would have continued to use his company if he had just contacted us to explain why he couldn't do our project. Then, we would not feel compelled to update our review. read more

We needed a new look to our backyard and side yard. We checked out Roberts work and we were nervous for many reasons, it was going to be concrete and we are on a hill and we've had concrete done before but Robert was honest and said " only guarantee is that it will crack " so we started the project crossing our fingers. Recently moved to a house in Fullerton/Buena Park area with a lot of untamed front and backyard landscape. I got a couple of quotes through friend referrals and yelp, and all were relatively the same with Robert's being slightly higher, but we still chose to go with him after the initial walk through bc of genuine vibes and knowledge. He also provided a clear quote with line items, and there were no unexpected costs afterwards that were not discussed throughout. The actual work took a little over a month, and wow! I love our new yard so much!!!! Our yard was growing weeds as tall as me, and I wanted to fill a brick wall, create a bordering tree orchard, grassy play area for the kids, and have decomposed granite wrapping the rest of the house to reduce excessive water use. We discussed options throughout with considerations for cost, durability, uses and care, and are so happy with the choices we made. Text communication was also great throughout. We got 4 bids, Roberts was in the middle of the pack, however, more thorough in the initial interview/quoting process than the others, who we feel may have planned on switching things up during the job. We are just coming off another 1 year job with a contractor, and quickly realized the difference in quality with Robert's company. He did a lot of little things like getting rid of debris we didn't want, adding gravel to places not part of the scope of work, even putting a concrete barrier by our crawl space so rain wouldn't drain under our house and create mold. I don't feel like we had to stay on top of him or that he was cutting corners during the job. The lawn and concrete took a total of 5 working days. One of the complaints that I've read on Yelp is that it takes him a little while to respond. While there is a bit of truth in that, it is quite understandable as you'll learn why. I did a $33,000 job with him, it was an all cash deal, and it was all done through a handshake. Here's a list of all the things they did: - buried our backyard pool: they made sure to properly demolish it so that water drainage flow was adequate - demo the surrounding backyard concrete, re-graded with stone pavers in herringbone pattern - added backyard landscape lighting and electrical outlets - 1 large magnolia tree had to be removed along with its stump after we discovered its roots were lifting the front driveway concrete and heading towards the foundation. - front driveway demo, replaced with stone pavers - front lawn replaced with drought tolerant landscape - drip irrigation was added for front and back - stone pavers sealer applied This was a big job, and took about 3 weeks to complete. Things that we loved with Robert and his team were: - professionalism and quality: Robert was on site everyday, multiple times per day, and always made sure the work was up to a high standard. Robert inspected everything and guided his team to make any necessary adjustments. - on time: Robert's team always showed up on time and early everyday, and worked all day - communication: Robert was always available by phone call or text. He made sure to give us progress updates on the timeline and what to expect - fair: Robert's price was extremely fair and we always felt we were getting a good value. Robert gave us multiple options and helped us choose what would look best and last. - clean: each day, Roberts crew made sure all the tools were organized and materials off to the side. His team would sweep any debris that might have gotten onto the street. - honest and careful: it was amazing how their bob cat was able to fit along our narrow side yard!
