We had a great time at our breakfast reservation! We showed up at 11am and were seated and brought waters right away. We ordered a Bloody Mary and the brunch punch, both were excellent. The Bloody Mary, for those that give a sh*t, was flavorful but a tiny bit too watery (my only complaint about our whole visit ). Anthony was an excellent server, very quick and helpful. We got our food quickly and it was delicious, I loved the Dungeness crab eggs benedict and my partner had the original breakfast. Both her excellent. We stayed at the Oxford Hotel this week and had breakfast at Roam this morning. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic!

Showed up without a reservation and was told it should be a 10-15 minute wait and they would reach out when a table was ready. Got a text saying our table would be ready in 45 minutes? Showed up and it wasn't ready. Never got a call or text saying the table was ready, so after an hour of waiting we left. Please have your front desk work on their communication. read more

We had reservations and came with a group for a friend's birthday which was noted on our reservation. Everyone enjoyed the food but the service was lacking. Food deserves more than 2 stars but the service did not. I asked the waitress about a mocktail and she said she would find out. She then returned and set one down in front of me. It was a little odd because she didn't come back and discuss it with me like she said she would. It was essentially juice and did not include any bubbles, but it was fine. She also spilled water all over the table while filling our glasses and didn't say sorry or offer to wipe it up. She just walked away. Another friend's drink was so bad she had to return it. Several minutes later the waitress returned and took our appetizer order. We waited quite a while for our apps, ate them, and then waited a while again before they cleared our plates and she came back to finally take our dinner order. After dinner, we waited several minutes before she returned to offer dessert. I mentioned again that it was our friend's birthday and asked if they do anything or if we should order a dessert for her. About an hour before, we saw that another table had a dessert with a candle. She said she didn't know, our friend could order whatever if she wanted (unclear if it was on the house or not), and then said "we can do something." We had to wait again before we were able to order dessert. 20+ minutes later, a new waitress brought out our dessert. No candle or "happy birthday." We mentioned again that it was our friend's birthday and she said "oh, sorry she didn't tell me." She never bothered to tell us we were getting a new server either. We waited and waited and our new waitress never came back with the bill. So someone from our group went up to the front to ask and noticed they were just standing around. She brought the bill on one ticket and we asked her to split it. She said she wasn't told and didn't know who had what, so we had to sit and divide out our bill then wait again. Our dinner lasted THREE HOURS. It wasn't because we were chatting away, ordering several dishes, or whatever other reason you might choose to dine in that long. It was simply because they were SO SLOW. It wasn't even busy in the restaurant so I'm not really sure why it was so slow. Not a single staff member wished our friend a happy birthday. Next time we will pick somewhere else because it didn't feel special at all and the staff all seemed undertrained. read more

The service was so pleasant here that I really wish the food had been better. Came in on a holiday (kudos to them for being open) and were seated quickly. Staff took our order and food arrived promptly. However it was poorly prepared and barely edible. The elk sausage bowl had a curious grease pooled at the bottom and only really tasted like sausage. The fried eggs were cooked all the way through and had no runny yolk. The server kept encouraging us to have some ketchup and after a few bites I could see why. The potatoes lacked flavor and the red peppers were more for show. The chocolate chip pancakes were downright bizarre. So soft that you couldn't really make a solid bite out of them and the chocolate had this cloying and awful artificial flavor to it. The portions were generous but we couldn't even finish one pancake. I feel bad writing such a negative review, but I'm hoping the managers work on improving the food because otherwise it's a pleasant space with great staff. read more

Went here for brunch. When we walked in we told them our reservation was no longer for 7, but for 5. They said that was fine, however, we were asked 2 more times if any others were going to show up. We also had to repeatedly tell them our drink order. One friend asked for an espresso, the server told her she should try the espresso martini and my friend said no thanks... she never did get her espresso. Since we had so much trouble with our original drink order, we didn't even bother asking again for that espresso. We ordered a lot of food, the hot cake was good, but very sweet. Glad we shared it, as all of us said it was too sweet to eat the entire thing by ourselves. The calamari was okay, nothing special. The steak and eggs, very much lacked. The steak had no flavor. The biscuits and gravy, cute idea to add Paprika and do bacon bits in the gravy. However, there was hardly any bacon in it and well there just needed to be more gravy all together. Essentially you're just eating a biscuit at the end with no gravy, because you run out. The eggs Benedict was pretty good. The server said their hollandaise sauce was something special... sorry but it was not. It was your average hollandaise. The Canadian bacon however, was delicious. The potatoes that come on the side were pretty underwhelming as well, needed some more flavor. The brioche french toast... is not brioche bread. It was way too thin and lacked flavor. Overall, the food is underwhelming, lacks flavor, and service well not sure they actually listen when you order. read more

Well, it took to the age of 42 for me to ever send a meal back- Roam bears that honor. My husband and I took our parents to dinner here tonight and I can honestly say it might be one of the worst meals of my entire life. We were seated and ordered drinks and appetizers at 5pm. Both came and were decent. We ordered our main course and waited. And waited... and waited. Server was attentive so we were patient. Food finally arrived at 6:20. My husband and father in law ordered steaks-rare. I ordered scallops and my mother in law a salad. The steaks arrived cold and over done- think along the lines of shoe leather. So cold and overdone that they actually sent them back (for their first times ever). I ate one scallop that was lukewarm but upon chewing the second, I almost threw up. Literally spit it out into a napkin- it was cold and raw in the center and had a horrendous taste. Replacement steaks came and were actually warm but again- well-done. I didn't send my scallops back, as honestly I just wanted to leave and didn't want to dare eating seafood from their kitchen. Server came back and we asked for a box and the check. He came back with the box but no check. We waited a full 14 minutes and still no check. I finally got up and walked to another table where the server was standing and politely handed him the credit card and told him we had to get going as we had kids at home. No apology. Just took the card and came back a few minutes later with the bill. The best part of the whole experience will be if I don't get food poisoning tonight from the bad scallops. You couldn't pay me to eat here again. read more

I have mixed feelings about Roam. The ambiance is great and it has nice offerings on the food and cocktail menus. The service was inconsistent. Our appetizer came out incredibly fast but then it felt like we were ignored for 30 minutes before our meal came out. Plus, the server seemed put off that no one at our table was drinking alcohol. The fried food was great but they over use sauce on all the other items giving them a lack of flavors. I'll give Roam another try as I really want to love this place but my experience so far has just been okay. read more

My wife and I are in town from Colorado and We checked this place out after some difficulty finding a place that could fit us. (seems Bend doesn't have much open on Monday evenings...?) first and foremost, the incredible service needs to be pointed out. We were greeted by almost everyone working incredibly quickly. Cory was our server and she MADE our evening. Knowledgeable, helpful and dad jokes for days. Try to go there when she is working for "dinner and a show."On top of that, the food was amazing. Took a bit of time, but well worth it. We got a few of the appetizers- scallops, calamari and Brussels sprouts. They know what they are doing. Yesterday (9/11/2023) was my third visit to Roam. My first two visits were in the bar for happy hour on First Friday in August and September 2023. This most recent visit was in the restaurant to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We love Roam. The service in the bar is always excellent and the bartenders are very nice. The service in the restaurant is very good, too. We've tried six of the cocktails on the bar menu and enjoyed them all. The food is delicious - the burger and fries are outstanding and the short rib enchiladas with Brussels sprouts are yummy. The Caesar salad is really good, too. The atmosphere is nice - you just feel really comfortable here. I highly recommend Roam and will keep coming back. read more

Great location, happy hour deals are really really good- I think they had/have a "buy 2, get one free" with awesome choices.... pretty decor, kind if minimalist, clean, loved the booth. Loved our cocktails, and the food was great, aside from being a little underwhelmed by the "firecracker shrimp", I believe it was... very minimal in size and flavor. Only other minor issue was a little cold, as our booth seemed closest to host stand and entry doors. Came here for a Sunday morning brunch and was blown away that it was not all that busy for a downtown restaurant so we got a little nervous that it wasn't good. We were wrong. The food was awesome. Two stars, and I am being darn generous. We spent New Year's Eve here (our anniversary); the servers were most gracious....but the food was waaay below what we had come to expect from 10Below. OK...to start off, the "Seared Foie Gras" was a just a hunk of fatty liver with a nasty taste. Beautifully plated, though. Next was the cucumber salad; again beautifully plated, no taste. Next, another "no taste" dish: veal consomme...about a third of a dish; no matter, it wasn't good enough to warrant any more. Next came the best part of the meal: lime sorbet. Sad when the palate cleanser is the highlight. My husband had Beef Wellington; not remarkable and a miniscule portion. I had scallops (2) with lobster claws (overcooked). Not bad, again, nothing special. Desert was not memorable at all. Went back to our room to drink champagne and nosh on chocolates. As we checked out, the front desk person asked about our experience; we were honest about how disappointed we were in the meal. He asked for our home address and said that he would "make it right" with a gift certificate. Haven't seen it yet; just as well, we are not in a hurry to return, sadly. read more

We went for brunch and were terribly disappointed. Their breakfast bacon sandwich was not nearly as good as McDonald's. It had maybe a teaspoon of grated cheese. The bisquits in the 'bisquits and gravy' meal were dry and the gravy was just so, so. There was maybe a tablespoon of sausage at most in the gravy. Orange juice was in a very small glass, and I don't think it was freshed squezzed. The potatoes were cooked nicely but there was very little seasoning on them. The server was efficient and polite. My husband and I came in and were greeted by the KINDEST staff and served by the sweetest person. Her name was Kaylie and she was so wonderful! Small world her boyfriend served my bridesmaids and I two nights prior at the tiki bar in town! The food was amazing and the service was amazing too! I don't give 5 stars ever.... And this place deserves it. Bottom line: go now or get a reservation before you can't. I just had dinner there last night. I can't speak to why they have lower reviews from months ago, but that was when they just opened and so need to work some things out maybe? Nevertheless - this was one of the finest meals I've had in a long time. Atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. Service was very nice and attentive without being pushy. Menu is focused - has a point of view - clearly wanting to offer quality food and really specializing in their grill. Portions were excellent - worth every penny and I left feeling both well fed and comfortable. I personally ate the NY Strip and it was one of the most perfect medium rare steaks I've had - and the sauce that they paired it with was incredible. Wine menu really celebrates Oregon and California wines. And the cocktail list was awesome. I had their old fashioned and it was so smooth, so balanced, I took a picture of the description to try and recreate it later. If I lived here in Bend, OR - this restaurant would be on a regular rotation - at least once a month. GO NOW! read more

2nd time I have eaten here and both were fantastic. The staff is so friendly. The addition of the patio is a nice perk and the food was wonderful. Browsing others' reviews after our experience last night and struck by how the responses indicated that "management" is taking bad reviews seriously and passing along comments and yet it appears that the problems continue. Three girlfriends and I tried out Roam last night for dinner, as we had so enjoyed Ten Below. We were given menus when we sat down, so that was promising. Little did we know that not a single staff member would ever refer to them again. The waiter (who was kind and lovely) took our drink orders and quickly returned with the wine two of us ordered. The cocktails arrived 15 minutes later. All drinks should arrive at the same time, but okay. We then sat there for 45 minutes and literally nobody asked us for our order or checked in with us about the delay. It was the most bizarre experience. We decided to cut our losses and bail. We asked for our bill and the waiter brought it to us without even a quizzical expression about how odd it was that we made a dinner reservation and didn't order food. I don't blame the staff - it's clearly a lack of training by the mysterious "management." I know staffing is an issue, but a simple word acknowledging that the kitchen was backed up (or whatever) would have been appreciated. Safe to say that the restaurant lost four customers (and their families), and likely others, judging by expressions on people's faces around bare tables as we left, and the Oxford should be pretty concerned. Agree with the comments about the too-brightly lit ambiance, but the offering and providing of food should probably be addressed first. read more

Came in a couple hours before close with 3 friends Monday night looking to get a after dinner cocktail. Three employees were in the bar talking when we walked in, one came up to us told us they were no longer taking walk ins for the rest of the night due to being understaffed and then went back to hanging out with their coworkers. There were only two tables in the restaurant. Walked out and looked at the available reservations and it was completely open, we could have made a reservation for 5 mins later and walked back in. All 4 of us either work in the industry or have before, so I'm very understanding to the issue of being understaffed. But this felt very uncomfortable and like we weren't welcome in the restaurant. read more

So many, many red flags..... we went for Christmas dinner for their set menu at $60pp and although the comedy of errors and calamity that followed made for wonderful time with family, the food was a dumpster fire. First, we had to wait 40 min to be seated even though we had a reservation. Second, they were out of the prime rib and crème brûlée and tried to pass whipped parsnip off as mashed potatoes and rolled bacon as pork loin. Third, they were running out of food so badly it was obvious they just started to cut the portions of things, we received two half full cups of soup and half servings of charcuterie. Looking around many tables waited an extremely long time to receive food, some getting their soup/salad course after their mains. Poor people at Roam had one hell of a night and judging by some of the common themes of other reviews left, these are not one off issues. At some point in our night it just became comical and our little group embraced the chaos and became the jolliest bunch of a$$holes this side of the nuthouse (name that movie!?!?) Good luck Roam, we cheer for the under dogs in our house, but at this rate you are not getting a best of Bend any time soon. read more

I have heard good things about ROAM thru some friends and I'd thought I'd give it a try. I went with my sister-in-law and we were both pleasantly surprised by the amazing food! Much better than we had anticipated. I had the filet and she had the trout. The combination of the sides with the meat was just perfect. All the tastes together were so thoughtful. HIGHLY recommend the filet! Kevin was very kind and didn't skip a beat. We could tell he enjoyed his job. Took my family there and we spent a ton of money for us all to suffer gastric distress. Every single one of us! Not sure what they are doing but it wasn't good. Trout was over cooked and dry The mushrooms were undercooked and cold, sauces were bland. It took an hour for our food to get to the table. If you are going to put your name on the menu chef, you should be very picky on what and how you plate your food and that the kitchen is clean. Very disappointed. read more

I have not eaten at the Oxford for some time. Going downstairs in the that dark basement for average food was disappointing. Fortunately, I happened to be in town and ended up noticing a remodel and outdoor seating. For appetizers I loved the shishito peppers, the scratch in house coulis was amazing. Scallops also great. Fries could have been crispier. I prefer skinny, double fired. Loved the contrasting flavors of the the yuzu pork belly. Staff could use a bit of training. I had to ask to find out that they pretty much make everyone house.will be back to try more. So glad that they changed things up! read more

Just had dinner there tonight. Fabulous meal! I had the Hazelnut Crusted Trout with Marionberry Sauce that was to die for. The grilled vegies on the side also incredibly yummy.
