Despite a friendly staff and decent sports bar atmosphere, I was not overly impressed by my visit to Rixster Grill today. I had a bacon and cheddar cheeseburger and fries. I asked for the burger to be medium, but it was well done. In addition, the patty was somewhat lacking in flavor. The bacon and other toppings were fresh and tasty. The bun was beautifully toasted and had a good taste, but may have been a bit thick for the patty. The crinkle fries were way underdone and therefore not good. Frankly, I expect a place occupying this level of restaurant hierarchy to eschew frozen crinkle cut fries. I love a good, properly cooked crinkle cut fry, mind you, but this just isn't the place for it. In conclusion, I would say that if you're looking for a competent burger at a decent price in a good atmosphere, Rixster Grill will satisfy that. But watch out for the fries. read more

the bathroom was just god awful, extremely dirty. service was terrible our server was very impatient and asked if we were hungry but not in a fun jovial way, it was more like she was seriously asking if we were hungry while sitting in a booth at a restaurant. i ordered a cider and it was flat and tasted like juice, my friend just ordered a water and it took 25 minutes for the water to come out. very unpleasant experience. read more

This establishment is not what you would expect. It's nice to have an establishment that in addition to a separate dining room and bar also has an outdoor dining/patio area. I've enjoyed the bar (if I leave the wife at home!) The food is surprisingly not average bar and grill fare. They kick it up a notch. My wife likes to enjoy fried shrimp when we go out because it is not a dish she prepares. So when she saw their fried shrimp basket, she wanted to give it a try. She hoped they wouldn't be that heavy bread-battered coating, saturated in grease kind of shrimp. She was thrilled at the quality of the dish! The coating is light and crunchy letting the flavor of the shrimp come through and light on the grease. Just perfect!!! She has had the same dish every time since and has never been disappointed. I've had the burgers, wings, and their daily specials and have enjoyed all of it. We have always had excellent service too. We enjoyed it so much that when we hosted a gathering of out of town friends, we took them to Rixster's. Everyone loved it and that is hard to do with 10 different people in the crowd. Keep it up! I've been coming to this place for the past 3 years and it's my favorite place in all of High Point & the surrounding areas !! I work here half the year and frequent Rixters 1-2 times per week. First off, let's start with the staff. I'm a firm believer in the "it all starts at the top" philosophy. The owner, Craig is a very personable and professional person. He genuinely cares about his staff, his establishment and most importantly, his product. As for the food, exceptional !! Everything on the menu is outstanding - all fresh and never frozen. I don't consider their food "bar food" -- it's at a whole other level. We will continue to keep coming back - the place is also very clean and looks awesome after they did some remodeling. Had high hopes for this place because the parking lot always looked packed when driving by. We came for a later 8:30 dinner on a weekday. Their beer on tap was cold and decently priced. The pickle chips were fantastic and the Cesar wrap and pasta salad side were good. We also had the Just a Cheeseburger, and an order of lemon pepper wings. The burger ingredients were fresh, but the meat was completely under seasoned and had very little flavor. The same was true of the lemon pepper wings and the coleslaw side. The service was left wanting. We were brought to our table but not directed to the scannable code for their digital menu. The waitress didn't show up until we had been seated for close to 10 minutes. She didn't offer us water or beer refills until we were close to done with our meal. It wasn't a particularly busy time of evening. read more

I'm happy we found this place while looking for suggestions for hot wings. We ordered hot chips and Buffalo wings to go. The pricing was average for wings. We asked for the wings cooked crispy and were not disappointed that all items were cooked as requested. The wings were large and well seasoned. Definitely a bargain for the price. This was our first visit to this recently relocated sports bar/hamburger joint. It was located in the N. Main Street area of High Point before coming here a year or so ago. The new location is in that maze of restaurants, shops, and offices at the intersection of W. Wendover Avenue and Eastchester Drive. There is a large bar area with stools, booths, and tall table setups. And there is a regular dining area separted from the bar by screened wall, with booths and table, and a small stage for live music. There are large screen TVs almost everywhere - a sports junkie/beer drinker's heaven on earth. The food here is the of the pub grub variety, wiith Wings, sandwiches, burgers,hot chips, and FF - with a few soup and salad choices, if you insist - I didn't. The Usual Cheeseburger is a very, very nice burger - rather thick, with great flavor. No formalities here about inquiring as to how you wanted that burger cooked. We chose the Hot Chips as a side, and while these are not fresh cut in house, they are quite good, especially with the nice Ranch Dressing. This good sized burger goes for $7.50 with a side - decent value here. The Reuben comes on marble rye (that bread always reminds me of the Seinfeld episode) and is very tasty. The FF we chose were excellent, and the serving size was large - both for $6.50 - an excellent value. Diet sodas ran $1.85. All in all, some pretty good pub food here, including several different hot dogs I'll try on our next visit. The service is generally good, though a little cliquish in nature - several obvious regulars were waited on before us, though they came in well after us - this kind of thing drives me nuts - but otherwise the service was attentive, drinks never emptied, check quickly rendered. All Bro-Country over the PA aside, this is a decent place to have a sandwich. We went on a Sunday evening, and the place was about half full. We were allowed to pick our table, but no matter where you sit you're going to have a decent view of a TV. The menu features standard sports bar fare, and prices are about average. I ordered their equivalent of a buffalo chicken sandwich with waffle fries, and my wife ordered a Philly cheesesteak sandwich with hot chips. I was pretty impressed with both the size and taste of my sandwich. It was a large breast of fried chicken tossed in hot sauce and topped with Jack cheese lettuce, tomato, and ranch. My fries were crispy like I like, but otherwise nothing special. The Philly was smaller than I would have guessed, but the flavor was right and the steak juicy. The chips were just OK, I wish the ranch were a bit thicker. Overall, this would be a 3 star review if my sandwich wasn't so darn tasty. Service was good, our drinks never ran dry and the waitress offered to go drinks which I gladly accepted since my sandwich was spicy and salty. Verdict for me is that it's a good neighborhood watering hole. I don't think I'd make a special trip, but would stop if I'm the area and wanted to have a bite to eat and watch TV. read more

Rixster Grill, High Point. This place is in the labyrinth of shops and restaurants on 68 close to the Biscuitville. Formerly another restaurant. You can see it from 68, but you cant get there without driving half way around the city. Plenty of private lot parking, and an outdoor seating area. Inside it has a definite sports bar feel, mixed with an old pub. Cozy and Warm. Some booths, high tops, and bar seating. The place was clean, and I got seated immediately. Full service, which is nice. Beer, wine, and full bar all available. After I was here for a while it seemed to be more sports bar oriented, with several TV's and what appeared to be a rather large local following. This is a bar, so expect to hear some typical bar conversations. The menu is large with something for everybody. Lots of pub grub, with wings, sandwiches and plenty of appetizer choices. They also have salads, plates, and other items. A well rounded menu. For this visit I had the potato skin appetizer, and the steak and cheese sub. This thing caught me completely off guard. It had sliced steak on it, no thin meat product here! Grilled mushrooms and onions, lettuce tomato and mayo were on the bottom so it was easier to eat. Not that it was easy. See the pic! This thing was huge! The taste was great. It was fresh and hot. Even the fries were cooked up nice and golden. This cheese steak was tha bomb. The appetizer was awesome too. Again cooked up just right with a little crunch and nice melted cheese, bacon bits, and fresh scallions. Ranch and sour cream on the side. I cant believe I've been driving past this place all this time and not stopping. With so many choices in the area its easy to get distracted. The service was fast and friendly all the way around from entrance to exit. The server kept a check on us and made sure we had the items we needed. If you're driving around the area and cant decide where to go let me make it simple. Come here! The prices are great. All in all I would highly recommend Rixster Grill! read more

So glad to be able to update this review to five stars. I went in yesterday for dinner and my visit was superb from start to finish. From my cold draft beer to my delicious and perfectly cooked teriyaki grilled chicken sandwich. The sandwich came covered in cheese and topped with a grilled pineapple to really finish it off perfectly. I enjoyed a side of hot home chips and they were delicious as well. The food is always good, but you have to take in to consideration that a lot of ppl that go there are regulars. So they take priority.. on several different occasions I have heard a waitresses/bartender say "I guess I'll be making drinks for free tonight" meaning (my perception) their not going to get tipped well. I can absolutely not believe what I experienced here. My first time here and my pregnant specific food craving self was so excited to try the bbq pork nachos. My waitress Kayla took the order. I asked her what all comes on them. She did not know I said OK please no beans and she said OK no problem. She Brought my order out With beans. I informed Kayla and she took them back to remake them. My husband ordered steak tips and Never got a fork. We Hadn't seen her in a while and my husband still had no forks, so he could not eat so I went looking to ask her for one and found her PICKING THE BEANS OFF MY NACHOS!!!!!! She looked at me and said "what do you need?" I guess we weren't going to acknowledge her picking at a plate meant for me to eat. In addition I was supposed to get an order to go. She came back to the table to take the order and my husband asked her Was she picking beans off my plate and she replied "no" and said that my order was being made fresh. My husband asked her didn't my wife see you picking beans off she said "no I was eating those they're making hers over fresh"LIAR! So now we're lying. But let's say she not lying... so I'm waiting to place an order, get a fork, and napkins while Kayla is eating nachos.... That's crazy! This wasn't my first trip to Rixster, but it is the trip that won me over. We ventured in last night for the Carolina/Duke game. We tried Kickbacks first and the wait was so long they couldn't give me a wait time! So we rolled the dice and headed to Rixsters. When we walked in the hostess told us the wait time would be about 20mins. We may have waited 10. The place was booked with a lot of large parties and I wasn't sure we would get a seat at all. But the manager broke an unused table away from a big party and created a place for us. Our server, Michelle, was table side quickly, and we were able to put orders in fast. They have plenty of tvs so it didn't matter where we sat we had a view of the game. I ordered the Turkey & Cheese Sub with Chips, one of my favorites there, and my boyfriend ordered the Bacon Cheddar Burger with Waffle Fries. We both cleaned our plates. He had never been here before and was a big fan of their waffle fries. He noted that they have the taste of curly fries and may be his new favorite fry choice! We stayed for 2 games and got snacks later on. He ordered Franks Hot Buffalo Wings and I ordered Nachos. The wings were good, but he is from the Buffalo area of NY and has high standards when it comes to wings! The Nachos caught me off guard. While they were just Nachos as far as toppings go, the chips were more like wontons and were soooooo good! The staff was incredibly friendly. I never got the managers name (could have been the owner, not sure) but he was so helpful and friendly. Michelle took great care of us and Bethany was wonderful as well. I will def go back. Had a great experience at Rixster's Grill for lunch last week. All three of us had delicious burgers, with different sides. The hot chips, waffle fries and crinkle fries were all very tasty. Service was quick and our server was efficient and friendly. Hope to return soon. read more

Not bad. They seem to be pretty busy in the bar area. The waffle fries are awful (I think they would be so much better without that seasoning on them) so stick with their regular fries. It's your basic bar food but there is a decent selection. read more
