Karondas is a local spot that has comfort food and reasonable prices. Every time I've visited the waitresses or waiter has been friendly and attentive. I love their daily specials. The fish plate on Fridays is my favorite. I have had their club, which is delicious and their hot dogs are really tasty. Red onions is unique on a hot dog, but paired with their slaw and chili. Chef's kiss. My son loves their cheese logs and frog chips. The frog chips are their take on hot chips and are little thicker and are seasoned just right. The decor is bar like. There is a bar with bar seating in a separate section. The dining room area is good for families. I'm starting to become a regular and haven't had a disappointing dish to date. read more

Great food, great prices & great service! Cheesesteak sandwich was unique, on Texas toast. Took the chance to get the frog chips and they did not disappoint, thicker than a normal chip but still crispy! They were delicious. We had beer as well and were excited that they had a good selection including several Red Oak beers. read more

My Food wasn't that good, I ordered grilled shrimp, barely cooked almost raw and they weren't grilled. Onion straws were very greasy in my opinion and the bread was stale and tasted terrible only took one bite. Baked Potato was the best part of my meal. Diet Pepsi tasted like soap. My wife's Food, she ordered Mahi and stated it was ok, she liked the onion straws and the baked potato, she also said her bread was stale and only took one bite. Server was great, very attentive. This part of town is a bit of a food desert when it comes to reliable quality food. Consider Karonda's the oasis. Is it perfect? No. sit at the bar, choose your own music on the jukebox and have a chat with the bartender over a selection of quality items. I recommend the fried chicken sandwich, with a little bit of their homemade pimento cheese. It's a hell of a lot better than anything you'd get at Bojangles. And if you stick with a soda instead of a beer, you won't be paying more than a couple bucks more than you would at Bojangles. Stopped in for lunch with my mother in law on the way to her doctor's appointment. She had been to Karondas many times but I had not and wanted to try it and I love me some good bar food. The place was nearly empty at lunch time on a Thursday, not a good sign. They had CBS on one of the TVs so my MIL got to watch Y&R while we ate, she was happy, lol. One server was working and she was very friendly and efficient. My MIL got the ribeye sandwich and loved it. She gave me a bite of the steak and it was very well seasoned and super tender. Her side was the friend green beans, loved these too. I ordered the club with awesome onion straws. The sandwich itself was okay. The turkey and ham were sliced much too thick which ruins a club for me. The rest of the toppings were tasty but a bit sparse, I removed the middle piece of bread to make it heartier. We told our server we had to leave by 1:30 to make an appointment in town and she was great with our time constraints so kudos to her. I might return if I'm out that way but wouldn't make a special trip. read more

The food is always excellent. My husband and I were able to get an two drinks, an appetizer, and two meals for right at $30. We left full and had leftovers to take home. The food was cooked fresh and arrived hot. The waitresses are wonderful. We try to eat here at least every few months even though it's a 45 minute drive. read more

I was in the area for business and there was not very many choices for lunch. Random stop at their place did not disappoint. Super local crowd, in fact, noon day drink folks at the bar looked like they had their daily spots and everyone, by everyone - I mean everyone is on a first name basis. The servers all look like seasoned gals that been there forever, very friendly! The place is some what dated, but I liked it, the vibe was dive bar, but had a flavor of sports theme. Wings were decently crispy, meat was cooked well. Nothing wrong with them. I also had a side of onion things, not really onion rings, but not really onion straws. The onion thingy's came with a very good dipping sauce. Anyway, check out my photos. Was in the area for a soccer tournament and stumbled upon this place because a friend and I wanted to watch the Euros. Service was great - definitely feels like a local spot where everyone is a regular. The bartender introduced herself to us (Kat) and make sure we were well hydrated, supplied with beers, and fed. Service was great as it was the last few times we went. This time, we both went with the burger. We weren't asked how we wanted it cooked, but decided to wing it. The burgers were both very well done, to the point of dryness. There was a faint hint of seasoning I couldn't quite identify (curry?). Shame, since the rest of the burger was fine. Been here twice with our travel basketball team. Very friendly staff, it's of great choices for food and drinks. They have a bar are esperares from the dining area. A couple of TVs with sports always on. My kids swear by the chicken tenders. I loved their fries smothered in cheese and bacon. The rib eye sandwich is delicious and packed with flavor. The Rib eye dis is great but was a bit too fatty and thin for me. There are two machine operating pool tables to pass the time. In all it is a great spot for groups and families. read more

My husband and I visited this restaurant Saturday October 19, 2019 for lunch. This restaurant is in our neighborhood so we visit here a lot. Our previous experiences have always been positive but today we were met with a very disturbing comment made by the bartender. While conversing with other patrons she stated "a N****r came in her restaurant" and the customer that she was speaking to stated "yes, I don't like N****rs." This took me and my husband by surprise considering that we have always been met with warm smiles and great customer service each time we visit. After hearing those comments we decided to leave and have decided to never go back again. Yes, the food is good. Yes, the service was perceived as good. But due to the views of workers and other regular customers there, we will not be back. I hope this helps someone who is considering eating here who are of a minority race. read more

Ahh Yes... Karondas Sports Bar and Grill. I eat here regularly, probably once or twice a week. To be honest I only do so because of the limited variety of restaurants around the area. The menu is limited to mostly American bar food, but what they do have is generally tasty. I have tried almost everything on the menu and my favorite item is probably the build your own burger. When they first opened you could build your own burger for 6.50 and have all the free toppings you wanted (including bacon, chili, slaw, grilled onions and mushrooms). I think they caught on to the deal they were giving and have since then raised the base price and charge a fee per premium topping. Don't get me wrong the burgers are great, and in my opinion the turkey burger is AWESOME! Other menu options to notice are the GIANT Cheese Sticks!! These Cheese Logs, as they are known at my workplace, are delicious and are their best appetizer with their spinach and pita dip coming in a close second. If your looking for a "healthier" meal option, the closest thing I can come up with are their sandwiches / wraps. Their BLT is good but their best sandwich is by far their four meat club (roast beef, turkey, ham and bacon!). Their side items are the standard steak fries, hot chips, veggie of the day (which is almost always broccoli), sweet potato fries, slaw, and macaroni salad. So the food is pretty good, and since they opened Karonda's had made a serious effort to bring in customers. I have yet to experience any live music there but I have heard they are offering trivia and poker nights weekly along with daily drink specials to bring in the late night crowd. The problem I see with this is that the bar is far to small to create any sort of bar like atmosphere where people can gather together and have a good time. I give them a B for effort however for trying different things in this small rural community off of US 29. I have one serious problem with this place. That is the TERRIBLE service. You will read that the people here are friendly but it depends on who's working. Generally speaking I get lunches to go because of the close vicinity to my workplace, but I have dined in a handful of times. All of which took at lest 30 minutes to an hour to have my food ready. The service for the most part is friendly but there are a few badddd apples in the the bunch that sometimes ruins my experience (especially at the bar). Even ordering takeout can be a hassle sometimes, where they won't let us get the menu items we want (like ordering from the children's menu or getting their lunch specials which are posted outside but not in the actual menu). So to sum everything all up the food is good here and its relatively inexpensive. Try it out and see how you like it! The service might be sub par but if you bring good friends or family to talk to I'm sure that can be overlooked. read more

Karondas is a Southern cooking family style place with band nights, poker, tvs for sports and pool table. They have a bar area as well. Had a retirement dinner here last night for my uncle and it was very good. They handled our party of 15 easily and efficiently. Food ranges from steaks to chicken to pasta to a salad bar, with sandwiches, wraps and great build your own burgers, including a turkey burger for the health conscious. Most everything is made in-house, as they used to be caterers. I had a salad and although the bar is small, it has all the usual items with a choice of lettuce, spinach and Romaine, which I liked because Iceberg has zero nutrition. Also had some very juicy hand-breaded chicken fingers tossed in their hot sauce, which was plenty hot even for my chile head palate. The only problem I noticed was trouble cooking steaks to temp, 3-4 people didn't get theirs cooked the way they ordered. read more
