Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the rest of the service department. Maybe oil changes and routine maintenance are their specialty. But when it came to diagnosing the check engine light on my 2006 Prius, they completely missed the mark. My Prius threw a check engine light while I was on a road trip up Highway 395. I had it towed to Perry Motors. They said they fixed it, but thankfully I took it for a test drive before leaving because the check engine light came right back on. I got charged a diagnostic fee - fair enough. They couldn't diagnose the problem and kept insisting it was an oil issue. The problem? I'd already had the oil changed at another Toyota dealer before the trip, so I knew that wasn't it. To make matters worse, another service manager actually told me, "It's OK to drive with the check engine light on--we do it all the time." I found that advice pretty disturbing  I finally took my car to J&S Automotive, where Juan Santana worked his magic. Juan is a true car whisperer--thorough, intuitive, and someone who genuinely cares about getting to the root of the problem instead of guessing. More than 400 miles later, my Prius hasn't missed a beat.  Moreover he did not charge me a diagnostic fee and took me in right away despite it being the 4th of July weekend His shop is busy and plastered with incredible reviews and I can see why he is fondly known as Saint Juan Santana - patron saint of car troubles on 395! Would I recommend Perry Motors? Sure, for basic maintenance like oil changes and routine services that follow the handbook. For real diagnostic work? I'd skip Perry and head straight to J&S Automotive.

Our first day was full of problems and I honestly thought about driving home before we got too far away. We wake up to find a water leak behind the toilet. I turn the water off but the leak continues. We call Kevin who already had several other jobs scheduled and was booked for the day. We told him we were leaving town the next morning so he said he would fit us in at the end of his day. So after he had already put in a full days work he came all the way out to Creekside RV, fixed the leak and spent some time with me to teach me some tips and tricks to make the rest of our trip easier. After spending the night on the side of the highway, went to Boyd's when they opened the next morning and the very nice lady clerk was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They had all the parts we needed and charged a reasonable rate even though this business is located in a small town. Driving N/B on 395 had an unexpected puncture blowout south of Bishop. With the help of a passing…read moremotorist got the spare put on. It was close to 5 PM. A phone call to Perez revealed they were still open and would wait for me to come in. Met with Alex. He removed the tire and examined the puncture which was in the middle of the treads. He said it could not be repaired. He offered to sell me a tire of the same size. I wanted to keep all the tires from the same manufacturer. He did not have that brand and said he was not able to get it. I declined further services, and drove back to my campsite 60 miles away. I called several places to locate a tire shop that could order my tire and replace the punctured tire. I would take a couple days for the tire to arrive. The tire arrived and I went to purchase it and have it installed. When this tire shop looked at the puncture they said it could be repaired. The used a plug and patch. I ended up paying for the new tire and had it installed. I kept the tire Alex at Pere said could not be repaired. I was glad Perez stayed until 5 PM to look at my tire. But am very disappointed that the goal was to sell me a tire rather than do a repair. I will not go back or recommend them.

Like everyone else pulling…read morean RV with a diesel truck to the sierras, things happen and this last July 4th weekend, it happened to my family and in a big way.... Headed south and into independence, the turbo on my 06 Chevy duramax went south in a huge way. AAA couldn't help in the area so I reached out to Britt's in Bishop as they had great reviews. They gave me the number of a heavy hauler and help me get the tow lined up super fast which was huge. They were great with communication that it would take a week or so to get to it which was totally fine as we had another ride home and I knew it wasn't going to be a simple fix. They helped me with storing the RV while the work was being done. They ended up having to completely replace the turbo, some lines and hoses and a few other small things. Also noticed that my frion was a little low and with the hot drive home, topped it off for me. This isn't a quick or easy job on this truck and the attention to detail showed in the end result. I nervously hitched up the RV after they finished and headed 200 miles south in 105 heat and she runs like brand new again. The entire crew there was super helpful and nice throughout the entire process. Moral of the story, if you're in the area at all and need help you can trust, Not only are they the best but probably the only ones with the combo of knowledge, a massive and impressive shop, friendly peeps and great pricing. Talked to Kelly at A&L and she said she would see what she could do. She called me back a short time later and gave me a price, stating she could have the tire delivered the next day. Next morning Kelly called and said the tire was in. We drove back to Bishop and got the new tire installed. The people there are friendly and I appreciate the extra effort they did to help us resolve our problem
