Cesar literally saved us after our car broke down on the 395 the day before we were supposed to head back down to LA. A tow truck driver that we called recommended we drop our car at his shop and leave it overnight to be worked on in the morning. He called Cesar for us and set it all up. The next morning we spoke to Cesar who said he was going to buy the part we needed and would have it ready to go soon. We didn't have any way of getting back to his shop from our hotel, so he fixed the car AND came to pick us up. He charged us a more than fair price given what we asked of him. I have a VW GTI and was snowboarding in Mammoth this past April 2025. My car experienced a nasty oil leak, a bumpy driveway busted my oil pan. We were practically stranded because no shops had the parts to fix a VW, were closed for Easter holiday, or overbooked. We ended up finding this shop in Bishop that could take us on short notice and they did a wonderful job! We got a tow into the shop on Monday afternoon, they ordered the part we needed, and had our car all fixed up and ready to hit the road by Wednesday morning. The service was fast, reliable and friendly. Our mechanic was Ceasar who specialized in VW- he was very reassuring and communicative and also gave us a ride into town! At first sight, the appearance can be deceiving, there were many cars filling the lot, however don't let that discourage you! I can be picky about where I take my car so I had my worries but I was definitely not disappointed! I would highly recommend this auto body shop! my RV broke the fan belt in Bishop California, I pulled into the parking lot in front of the AutoZone. I called all the mechanics I could in Bishop to see if I can get them to come out and put on a new serpentine belt on my RV. I found at Union Auto Center was the only person that was willing to come out and put a new belt on my RV. Cesar told me he'd be there at 2:00 PM. He never showed up. I drove down to his business 1/2 of a mile from where my motorhome was parked and unable to drive out of the parking lot. I talked to him and he informed me I'll be there. I'll be there. I'm almost done. I went back to my rig. He never showed up. His business closed and he went home and left me hanging there. Stuck in a parking lot. If he would've just denied saying that he could not be there to look at my rig and fix my problem. Then I could have looked for other resources. Instead, I got my own tools, crawled under my RV and fix the problem myself and got out of Bishop California that evening. God help anybody that breaks down in Bishop California. I was very disappointed in the treatment I received from union auto center. I hope you treat others in the future a lot better then the way you treated me. read more

We highly recommend this shop! Our trip to Mammoth was unexpectedly derailed when a mysterious oil leak rendered the car undrivable. Cesar and his guys took the engine apart and figured out the obscure problem causing the leak and fixed it and had us on our way in 4 hours. And, on top of everything, their fee was so reasonable! They are friendly, professional, and reliable. There are other shops in Bishop with a fancy shop front and other amenities, but it doesn't always mean you'll get quality service where it actually matters. read more

THESE PEOPLE HO ABOVE AND BEYOND TO HELP! We were heading up to Tahoe when our trailer tire blew out on an 88 degree day on 395. AAA wouldn't help us because our coverage was PREMIER not Premier Rv. Called Union Auto and they called someone to come out to change our tire and checked what kind of trailer tires we needed. Had them ready for us when we arrived. Was hesitant to go to this shop from the one review they had from several years ago, but all other shops in town had 1-3 week wait times and I needed work done ASAP. This shop was also slammed but they made time to take care of me. Most of their customers are Mexican/Latin, obviously by word of mouth and not yelp reviews as they were super busy and I could tell people had been coming to them for years. Owner and mechanics all very friendly and helpful. My trusted mechanic in FL quoted me $110 on the job, all other mechanics in the eastern Sierra area quoted $85-$130. The owner here charged me $60 and did great work. I recommend this shop. read more

We were headed from Mammoth back to San Diego and our AC stopped working. It's 100 on Bishop so we were dreading the drive. We called Union Auto Center and they were so nice and said bring it in! They offered us waters and looked at the car right away. Added Freon - we were low- and we are on our way after less than 30 minutes. Just really nice people and great service! read more

My brakes went out and I was 200 miles from home. It was Saturday afternoon and my Daughter suggested Union Auto Center in Bishop CA. She called them and they were very helpful and took us in right away. I was afraid it was the master brake cylinder and I'd be stuck waiting for parts until the next week. They diagnosed the problem and just had to bleed the brakes that had over heated the fluid. It was done in 20 minutes and the barely charged me anything for the service. Highly recommend them. I'd give no stars if I could. Never EVER EVER get chains or anything else from this place. Seemingly nice elderly gentleman sold my friends and I some chains for heading to Mammoth. Told us that they "should" fit, and recommended the purchase of some pigtails. By the time we got to the chain check point, we realized they did not fit and had to turn around, but the place was closed when we arrived. Long story short, we didn't use the chains, returned then, promptly asked for a refund, was made to wait several weeks, and even then, was only sent a refund for less than half of what we had paid.
