I was thoroughly impressed with Jose's services. My car started overheating up in Mammoth during a family trip, and after trying and failing to get in at various places in Mammoth, we had our car towed down to Bishop. Jose's shop was highly recommended as the best place to go since we anticipated the problem to be related to my radiator. Jose was nothing but helpful, accommodating, and professional. He maintained great communication throughout the process, fixed my car quickly, and did an excellent job for a great fair price. read more

Bishop Radiator and Auto Repair - Auto Repair Near Me - Bishop, California

Our turbo hose cracked on the way up from AZ. Destination OR and here we are half way. Nearest town is Bishop. Looked up Bishop Radiator Repair since our truck was also running a bit warmer than usually over some the passes. Jose was able to put us back in business in reasonable time. Especially with a short fall as this, one is kind of at his mercy. God bless him. He was able to put us back on the road with day light still to burn. Thank you again. read more

Had what looked like radiator fluid leaking from my truck. Called other repair shops who said they didn't have time to look at it. Called Jose who told me to come in. We pulled in and he immediately greeted us and started to take a look. Took his time and was very friendly. It appeared the leaking had stopped and he didn't try to charge me of unnecessary work. Honest friendly man and I would definitely use him again if I needed car repairs read more

The most honest mechanic I've ever encountered. Great guy. He even called me later in the day to make sure everything was running smoothly

Well, I guess we're not the only ones who appreciate Jose's service and kindness! Happy to add our story to the list. Our van, containing two kids and my pregnant wife, was overheating in Mammoth on the evening of July 3rd. I called around and no other shop could look at it until the 6th or 7th. Someone recommended Jose in Bishop so we limped down the hill (on the 4th!) to his nondescript shop. He diagnosed and fixed our problem while we ate lunch and sent us on our way. An hour after we left Jose called to check on us to make sure the van was doing ok. I'm pretty sure quite a few medical doctors could learn a thing or two from Jose's friendliness, diligence, and care. If we're taking votes for the "Patron Saint of Eastern Sierra road travel" it's an easy decision for our family.... read more

Jose saved my butt!! And if you read his reviews, he's apparently a super hero to many. That's just his nature. My alternator went out in Lee Vining (80-miles away). I found the part for my truck in Bishop and luckily found Jose who was willing to install it for me and would wait for me to drive the hour (on battery power alone) so he could install it so I could drive back to Yosemite and enjoy my day. Without Jose, my day trip to Yosemite would have been a bust, but it was magical and Jose will forever be apart of that memory. Please take him your service. And tip him, he deserves a tip because his prices are very fair and he's an amazing and humble soul. read more

I wish we could give Jose 10 stars. As he's apparently done for many others, he saved us over a holiday weekend when no one else was open. On Labor Day morning, on our way home to LA from June Lake, our car started overheating and would not keep the massive amounts of coolant we kept adding to the radiator. We mostly coasted down the hill to Bishop - with a young child and elderly dog in the car - called a few places that did not pick up, then reached Jose, who very kindly agreed to check out our car at his shop. He diagnosed the problem right away, fixed int quickly, had us do a test drive before hitting the road, and charged us an incredibly reasonable fee. My daughter, the dog and I were mostly taking shelter in the shade while he worked, but my husband had a chance to chat with him and said he was incredibly nice. Adding to our estimation of his character, we also learned that he feeds several stray cats that live nearby his shop. Mil gracias, Jose! read more

The best!!! Took care of my water pump just like that.... Great guy, great work!! Highly recommend read more

All the positive reviews about Jose and his shop are absolutely true. I could just take another review and copy/paste it here because he has helped so many people in the same way that he helped me. The short version; our car overheated on the way to mammoth, car towed to his shop because he was willing to take a look when other shops weren't available, he stayed beyond closing hours to troubleshoot, he had us do a couple of local test drives to make sure his interventions fixed the problem, offered his future time to help us if we got stranded, then requested we text him when we got to mammoth safely. Jose is friendly and treats strangers like they are family. He has relieved mountains of stress off people's backs when they have car trouble near Bishop. I wish I had a trustworthy mechanic like him where I live. Thank you Jose! read more

Basically what everyone else says. Was on our way to mammoth, had a funny smell of coolant in the car, it was late in the day, and he was the only guy available. Took a look, quickly and accurately identified the problem, and we were on our way. The peace of mind, speed, and ability to fit us in were priceless. read more

Jose and this act of kindness was a genuine lifesaver! He helped me out after my radiator blew when I was on my way to a wedding in Reno. Jose at Bishop Radiator and Auto Repair has my eternal gratitude. He deserves ten stars! He replaced the alternator and battery on my 2009 Toyota Highlander and worked extra long hours to get it back to us incredibly fast. He went above and beyond to get us on the road during a busy holiday weekend. Thanks to him, my family and I were able to have a great trip. Jose is a hero. He's a genius. A rock star. He's also a really nice guy who actually will answer the phone and help out two strangers having a really stressful situation with their car on the highway from Mammoth to Los Angeles -- where Bishop is the last stop for 250 miles of desert before L.A. We had an accident while in Mammoth, slid on icy road and damaged our car, which started to overheat. Could not find the coolant leak but constant overheating, low coolant levels (after numerous topoffs) and liquid splatter under the hood. Let me tell you what Jose DIDN'T do. He didn't say, I can't help you until next week. He didn't complain that it was almost 3 pm when we called. This is what we got from every single other place we called in both Mammoth and Bishop. No one gave a crap - we thought we (or at least the car) were stranded in Mammoth (or Bishop) for days. Jose was busy on other cars, but he actually had a heart(!) and agreed to at least look at our car. He identified the problem quite literally in one second -- a small hose had broken off from the coolant expansion tank. We persuaded him to jerry rig a temp fix so we could just drive to L.A. It took about 2-2.5 hours, and he did a phenomenal job. He was even super reasonable -- I rounded him up forty bucks because he saved our butts when no one else would. I will be grateful to this man forever. Thank you Jose!!!!! read more

On day 2 of our 5 day vacation, our radiator was overheating, boiling, losing fluid. My husband ( a pretty good mechanic) and 2 other mechanically minded people who stopped to try to help us- were totally stumped. We asked around town where we could go and one mechanic shop suggested we go see Jose at Bishop Radiator Service. That turned out to be our lucky day! If I could give Jose 10 stars- I would. He was kind, patient ( we were 2 seniors in trouble and it was very hot outside. Jose diagnosed the problem right away ( it was something unique- my mechanic husband was stumped and very impressed). Jose is honest, professional, really knows his craft, kind and patient. We found him to be very fair and we trusted him totally. Jose in 3 hrs sent us on our way- we had no trouble at all for the rest of our vacation which he saved.
