Can't thank JS Automotive enough. We broke down on 395 outside of Mammoth Lakes. AAA would only tow to an accepting shop. Juan at JS Automotive was one of the only ones to pick up and would at least diagnosis the issue that day. I called everyone I could find and most said next week or next month or no call back. When we arrive, it was as promised. They immediately checked the issue and found the problem. Luckly parts were locally available that day. JS Automotive fixed it that day and we were able to continue our trip. From the outside the shop doesn't look like much and is situated in an alleyway. The guys at JS Automotive were great. Our 97 Ford Ranger refused to start after we had lunch. The clutch would not engage. We quickly ruled out dead battery. Searching for an auto shop we found JS Automotive with great reviews on Yelp. The place was a bit difficult to find, it was in an alley. A small shop, we were greeted by the owner, Juan Santana. He was very busy but was able to take our car in. He diagnosed the issue immediately. Hydraulic clutch fluid low, with air in the line. In addition, he noticed the top radiator hose seeping coolant. A few hours later, all fixed. The car was running great again. The price was pretty reasonable . We were able to complete our trip and return home safely. Thank you Juan from the bottom of our hearts. How lucky Bishop is to have this shop in town. Our Sprinter van had front wheel bearing issues which Big O in Gardnerville attempted to fix. When the defective Mercedes parts failed, Juan at JS Automotive saved us. Everyone in town seems to know (and love) him, but as out-of-towners, we were just lucky to find him. Our tires on our travel trailer had nails in them. We didn't even realize this while driving through Bishop on our way home to LA. It's 5 minutes before 6 pm and I called Juan at JS Automotive, he said he'd be right by... we were parked in a parking lot of a soccer field. I can't believe how lucky we were to find Juan and his shop. My truck broke down coming home from snowboarding in Mammoth. We were 3 hours from home and it was 5:45pm with not a single shop open except for his. I was able to limp the truck to his shop where he found the part immediately and was able to fix it within 2 hours, despite having to make a pit stop to drop off his kids. He stayed open an extra hour to get me back on the road. He even topped off my oil and coolant as they were both a smidge low. He could have charged me an arm and a leg and I would have had to pay it, however, the price he gave me was extremely reasonable. Our truck's fuel pump needed to be replaced while on vacation in the Bishop area. We were renting a cabin and needed the truck fixed quickly as our stay was ending in a few days. So, my son-in-law and I had filled-up with gas, at Bishop and we were heading up the grade to Mammoth and ultimately to June Lake for 5-days of camping, hiking, and fishing. At about Vista Point on US 395 northbound, my engine stopped. We coasted to the shoulder safely and tried to restart: Nothing! A couple hours later, AAA got us towed. The AAA authorized repair shop was logged jammed for 2 weeks, but JS Automotive a non-AAA shop, might be better suited so we went there. Juan, the owner of JS Automotive, was jammed too but he would work on my car in between scheduled repairs. He discovered that plastic had melted from the engine heat and wrapped its way around the timing belt and cog. It would take a few days to fix. So we ended up in BW because of the free breakfast. If there is a place to hold-over for car repair, Bishop is it. The people are friendly and helpful. We spent 3-days reading and waiting for our car at the public library near Juan's shop. By Thursday afternoon, I got a new timing belt and clean engine. Juan understood our situation and did a great job. His costs were reasonable too. He and his wife, Lupita, are great people. read more

Was driving back from Tahoe when our brakes began to grind horribly. It was already 5 pm on a Monday and most automotive stores were closed except JS Automotive. Juan is not only an amazing mechanic but a very caring person. Our car recently broke down while we were 300 miles from home. Juan stayed open late for us while our car was towed to him. When we arrived he offered us cold water and a place to rest while he looked at our car. My friend and I were traveling thru Bishop when my car suddenly developed brake trouble. I was super worried that this would ruin our planned road trip thru the Eastern Sierras.
