My car engine died partway between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes. Basically right before everything closed for the night. Barry came to get me. He checked in on me, figured out a place to tow my car that was open late (everything else was closed), towed my car, helped me move a large amount of luggage and other items from my car to the tow truck, drove me to a hotel, and helped me unload my stuff. He was great, especially since I was 6 hours from home and trying to figure out what to do now that I didn't have a car and was starting to get a little slap happy. Absolute con artists and overall horrible humans. Left a AAA customer stranded on the side of the road for 3 hours just to finally cancel stating they "didn't want to take the job"!! Couldn't have decided that 2.5 hours sooner? Complete Scum bags! Once took a vehicle to them for a simple alignment, came back a few hours later and the car was just sitting there, they never did the alignment. Instead gave me a quote for $3,800 worth of stuff they claimed was more important than the alignment. The car had been sitting there for 2 hours while I killed time on foot, didn't even bother to call to tell me to come get it because they wouldn't be doing the alignment. Took the vehicle to Perry and found they not only inflated the price, they embellished the extent of the repairs all together. AAA should cancel their contract immediately and distance themselves for the sake of their reputation! read more

This is not the only poor experience I've had with Mr. K's. I took my 4runner in yesterday. With no other issues than it needing to have a alignment done. They had it for a few hours. I picked it up and then all of a sudden every time I press on the brake the 4runner shorts out and dies and a few times has shut off completely. My car had no other issues up until I took it to Mr. K's!! This is ridiculous and I am very upset about it! And NO I will not be taking it back to them. We were stranded with TWO FLAT tires up at the top of Rock Creek. Called AAA and they said someone would be there in 45 minutes. We waited 1-1/2 hours...No one. Called again. This time they said 20 minutes. After nearly 4 hours stranded with little input from AAA, I asked who was coming as i was going to call them directly for help. Mind you there is no cell service just a landline at the Rock Creek Resort that they let us use. Another stranded motorist happened to know the owner of Mr. K's and called directly. They said they got delayed with an accident pretty far out. When they finally came with a big flatbead tow truck, the driver was amazing- CHRIS...super nice and helpful and let all four of us and our dog inside his cab! He dropped off our car at Perez Tires- they were closed but he called them to let them know it was there. He then drove us to our hotel. He went above and beyond helping us when we were super stressed. Whatever he's getting paid, he deserves more. Lots of people were getting flats from a giant pothole and he was going back up there after dropping us off. Although it took waaay too long for the truck to come, apparently their other two tow trucks were being serviced, when it did, Chris made up for the long wait and spending the day on the side of the road. The folks at Mr. K Automotive are great people. While on the road to Mammoth, our truck began making some unusual noises and the ABS light came on. A friend of ours in Bishop recommended Mr. K for help. It was a Sunday, so we luckily got a room for the night at the Holiday Inn, and Monday morning we visited their shop. Jody explained that they were very busy and couldn't schedule us for at least another week. But she asked for us to leave the truck in hopes they could look at it sooner. Voila!, in only a couple of hours, she called to say the truck was ready to go. The problem was a bad wheel bearing. They were able to get the parts right away. Michael (not sure of his name) the technician was very nice to show me the faulty hub assembly and why it triggered a warning light. In short, these folks are wonderful. Every time I have had anything to do with this business, they have either charged me for nothing, or else left me hanging out to dry. One time a few years ago I went in to get an estimate on smog service. The guy charged me first, about $100, then he came outside, raised the hood, put his hands on his hips and said it would be at least $600. Shut the hood and walked away. That was it. Two other times, more recently and today, I called AAA for road service, they said Mr K would be coming, and then after waiting a couple hours called me back to inform me that Mr K couldn't be bothered and had declined the job, so I had to hire a different tow truck at full price for the tow and then apply to AAA to get only a partial refund. read more

Our ancient van (1998) broke down on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere on Highway 395 about 6 miles south of Big Pine. Mr K's towing - driver Ed especially was great in spite of AAA's ineptitude in getting the right tow truck dispatched. Mr. K towing came and towed us to the shop. They were extremely responsive to our needs. At first they thought it was just a hose and changed the hose, but the fittings in the radiator were bad and continued to leak fluid which would have caused further damage on the drive back. My Honda CRV's Car Battery died on May 1, 2022, and I got stranded during a road trip at Rock Creek Lake in Bishop, CA. My friend drove me down to town so that I could call AAA. I was connected to Ed with Mr. K Towing. Ed followed up with a phone call, explaining that he was running behind schedule due to Fishing Season just opening up, with more towing service calls than usual. I waited 2 hours for Ed to show up. My friend drove us up the mountain, and Ed arrived to the spot. Thankfully it was a simple Jump Start, and I was back on the road! Definitely worth the wait! Ed explained to me that Mr. K does not offer Battery Service, because it would compete against the Auto Parts businesses in the small town of Bishop, CA. He recommended that I get a new Car Battery from O'Reilly Auto Parts in Bishop, CA, which I did. Ed was very courteous and very helpful! So helpful, that others nearby who were also stranded and saw his Tow Truck passing through, walked up to him to ask for roadside assistance right after mine was completed. Hello, It's not very often that I won't take the time to post to review and the reason for that is because as a small business owner service is what we offer to our clients I'm old school born in 1960 that's my story to start with. I want you to imagine you just bought a brand new trailer for your family to enjoy in June Lake California. You're pulling that 27 foot trailer with your Dodge Laramie crew cab 2020 truck only to get 35 miles from the campground up Highway 395 and my grandson eight years old says to me Grandpa it smells funny well needless to say I smelled it before he did and was just hoping it was something else other than gear oil coming from my gearbox of my 2020 dodge Laramie truck. Bishop is a small town. It's a Sunday afternoon and it's raining cats and dogs and we're at the campground. Thank God literally thank you Lord for allowing my family to get safely into the campground and unhook from the trailer And being able to reach out to AAA and then finding Mr. K automotive online. I have to tell you from the start to the finish from Marissa to Michael to Vance. These folks are nothing but about being fair and complete and thorough no matter what your vehicle you have what types of problems you might Come upon or encounter like my wife says when you're on vacation. I called the shop right after I called AAA and a gentleman answer the phone listen to all my challenges on a Sunday afternoon and assured me our truck would be in good hands once AAA dropped off the truck to the shop That I had no contact with previous until now. Our truck arrive safely down at Mr. K automotive at around 3:30 PM on a Sunday afternoon. They checked our truck in to a secured compound went through the truck on a Monday morning to evaluate what the problem was then reached out to me a day or so later to let me know the rear end in my truck was shot and that it needed to be replaced. I like them from the get-go. It's just something about human beings. When you deal with enough folks, you know who is real and who's not and these folks are as real as they come. Vance, the gentle giant, the big man behind the counter. This gentleman knows trucks and cars told me they ordered the part take a couple of days to get it and that the truck would be ready three or four days later will guess what the truck was ready on time and the price that they charge me for labor I kid you not I thought I was back in the future in 1970. These folks are more than fair. If you give them a chance you will not go wrong and you can bet your bottom dollar, I'll let everyone of our clients in the town of Bishop know about these great folks. On a road trip through Bishop my car showed a "check engine" code. I went to Mr. K's auto repair because they were AAA recommended. Having spent the night in Bishop, I showed up at the facility at their 8 AM opening. I asked the receptionist if they could just run the code to see if there was a serious problem. As it was a Monday morning, I of course did not have an appointment, Therefore she said they could see me for this 5 minute diagnosis the following Monday at 9 AM. I re explained the problem and the only response was to suggest I go elsewhere. I did and Warren's auto helped me quickly and efficiently. This past Summer, I was driving to Mammoth from LA in my BMW when my "Check Engine" light came on just outside of Bishop. I pulled into the nearest Auto Shop which Thankfully was Mr.K Automotive Services. I was immediately greeted as I pulled up and the friendly young Technician connected his scanner into my car to see what was wrong. It turned out that my Gas Cap wasn't secured properly when my friend filled-up the car earlier in the day. The Technician Reset the 'Check Engine" Light free of charge and I was on my way! Booked my car in two weeks ahead, dropped off car 8:00 am, called four hours later to ask if they had looked at it, they said call back in an hour. Called back, they said someone would call me with an update. They did not. At 3:00 pm, I went to the office, was told the car had not been looked at, not had several before it. It was clear I would not get my car seen that book in day. I asked for my key back, the OWNER said, "Here's your key, don't come back". As a career self-employed business owner, I was shocked at his uncalled for pissy attitude! "I'm sorry, we couldn't get to your car" would have been just fine, but "don't come back". Ed at Mr. K is awesome! Our car broke down literally at the top of White Mountain Road (9000+ ft elevation). Ed came, as he put it, with his "fastest and smallest truck" so he could get our car off the mountain and to the dealership before it closed for the day. As a young, car-stupid female, I'm always weary of getting my car worked on at a shop I don't know. I typically just assume I'm going to get ripped off. Not the case here. After our brakes went out in Independence, our car was towed to Mr. K's in Bishop so we could have good access to a hotel and food. After we explained our urgency with needing the car as soon as possible, they were very fast with figuring out what was wrong with the car and getting us an estimate. After getting the parts ordered, we were well on our way back home the next day at LESS the cost of the original estimate! I already knew we weren't going to get ripped off, too, when they told us all about what was going on with the car and how we could technically drive home safely if we were careful; as well as when they recommended that we do cheaper, used parts. Deciding on a safety first policy, the brakes are now working perfectly and we even gained some car knowledge after our experience at Mr. K. If ever stuck in the middle of the Bishop area, this is the place to call! read more
