Ram diesel showed DEF idiot light with message 150 miles to drive then truck will go into limp mode. Made it to Bishop, but 300 more miles to Bakersfield. Husband called, and they took pickup in same day to do diagnostics. Amazingly computer has erased problem, and everything was ok. They reset idiot light for engine problem. Highly responsive, and quick service. Very nice people. $150 for labor, and we were on our way. Highly recommend. They were recommended by Bishop Auto Zone. read more

Ok. I know a lot of people throw around five star reviews, or reviews in general, like yesterday's leftovers. This is not one of those reviews. I was camping with my family, including my sister and her husband. We had their fourteen month old child with us. As you can imagine, after four days and three nights of camping in Inyo, we were all tired and ready to get back home. We left camp on the afternoon of July 4th to discover that the truck we had driven up in was no longer functional. To cut a long story short, a good Samaritan assisted us in getting down the mountain to contact AAA for a tow. The next day, after being turned down by other auto shops in the area (understandably, given the date), we spoke with Mr. K. They were completely cold and unreceptive to our situation. We were stranded with a fourteen month old baby hundreds of miles from home. To add insult to injury, the shop continued to service minor work like rotations and oil changes. Routine maintenance that isn't holding anyone from getting home. The final reason I decided to include their name, specifically, in this review is that they blatantly lied in telling us that Britt's wouldn't be able to help us "for weeks." Carrie, Britt, and the rest of the technician crew that we didn't get a chance to meet were incredible. Despite clearly being swamped with work, they shoehorned us in and got the repair done within hours. Instead of waiting for the period of time it would have taken to have a part ordered, Britt & co. took a part from another vehicle undergoing maintenance, instead opting to order the part for that non-essential vehicle. Britt showed true compassion to our situation and improvised accordingly. After all of that, he charged a pittance. This man runs an honest, competent operation and I am so glad I took a chance on Britt. I won't lie, I was worried when I showed up at the location. Do not be dissuaded! We were traveling down from Donner Pass when we blew a spark plug out of our V-10 head. I called every shop in Mammoth and every shop in Bishop ... no one could help ... everyone was backed up 3 weeks and no room to store the RV. Britt was very busy, but said he would take a look at our RV. We had it towed to Britts after closing and waited till morning, Britt said he would talk to his guys and see if any had done this job before. I think Nick was his name, he said he's done this 20 times, 18 were successful & 2 failures ... I figured that's pretty good odds. He finished the job in 4 hours and we were back on the road the same day. I never talked price just needed the job done. Britt, Carrie and his guys are excellent and gave us a very fair price. Our Chevvy diesel was towed to Britts Diesel on the 7th of October and it set there for about three weeks before they began work on it. They only seemed to work on it at their convenience as it sat there till we decided to have it hauled home. That was 75 days in their shop without any resolution. But Mike thought it was still worth $17,000 for holding it there while we spent all that time in an RV park in Bishop waiting on them. Upon inspection by a local mechanic Britts sent it out with many missing and lose fasteners, leaking fittings, possibly a misdiagnosis. We had asked them to put it back together, I guess they didn't understand. They were very defensive anytime we talked to them during the seventy five days there. We wouldn't recommend them to work on a kid's Tonka toy! Absolutely ruined our winter trip to Arizona, ended up going back home from Bishop once we got someone to bring us a vehicle to tow our RV and haul our pickup home. read more

I brought my truck in for service yesterday and when I came back to pick it up later in the day I went into the office to pay my bill and get my keys and receipt. I noticed that my keys were not familiar because my key ring was missing. I figured that the mechanic took off the key ring before he turned them into the office ladies. The key ring was not appropriate for a woman to see. So I understand that and looked in my truck for the key ring. I could not find it anywhere. So it is missing and someone took it from britts diesel. I have been going there for 25 years and never had a problem like this. read more

My Ford F-250 had a turbo issue that wouldn't allow the truck to go more than 35 MPH which meant a long slow if not dangerous drive to Orange County. Britt was buried and referred us to someone else. Told us to call back if the other person couldn't help. Seems everyone was busy and couldn't look at the truck for three days. Britt worked us in as he stated he would want someone to help him if he was stuck. After waiting for about an hour the mechanic Nick diagnosed the problem and had us on the road a couple hours later. He even ran to Ford to get the part for us. Nick was trained to work on Ford's. He was very thorough in his analysis. Thought the guy was a Dr. he was so thorough! Couldn't be more pleased with the service we received. read more

Very impressed by my experience with Brits, one of the most honest repair shops I've ever seen, I thought my brakes needed replacement but it was a leaking seal, they could have replaced the brakes and charged me but didn't, also repaired a fuel leak, got everything done in a very short time and got me on the road, and the cost was very reasonable, if you ever need motorhome repair in the Bishop area this is the place to go read more

I can't speak about the truck / heavy diesel end of Britt's, but I've bought quite a few tires from them. Ken in the tire shop knows his stuff and does a great job. He'll sell you something cheap if that's all you need, or get you the best if it's what you want. They know what service is, and if you've ever tried to get service or knowledge at some discount tire big-box then you know you're barking up the wrong tree. Go to Britt's for tires and deal with somebody who will give you a fair deal and has been working with tires for decades. By the way, Britt's is not so easy to find, but if you drive down Joe Smith Road, after the roof components company keep your eyes open for the signs for Britt's or West Coast Barns on the left side of the road. There's plenty of room to turn around back there if you're in a truck or RV. read more

On June 20, 2016, on our way to June Lake, we had a brake failure in our 1993, 38' American Eagle Motorhome. We found Btitt's on the Internet and called him. He was swamped for the day, but agreed to look at our brakes. He gave us no guarantees. We were at his mercy. Britt not only looked at our brakes, but at one time he had all his mechanics, as well as himself, under our RV repairing our brakes. It was 90+ degrees outside. We cannot thank Britt and his staff enough for saving our vacation. You and your mechanics are the best!!! And guess what? The cost to repair was VERY REASONABLE! We were moving to Lk Havasu Az. 24 miles outside of Bishop Ca we had a wrench light come on on our 2008 Diesel 3500 truck. Went into limp mode no power. It was 4:00 PM small town only 3 places to call. Left mess at one, no return call, 2nd was Ford dealership Diesel mechanic out on family leave. Saidd we might try Britts, called they were extremely busy, he said I might get you in early next week for the repair, but to bing it in in the morning at 8:30 and would run a digonistic . 8:30 the next morning we arrived, they ran the code, it was the thermostats. They said if we could leave it they would fix it that same day. By 3:00 that same afternoon it was fixed. We had expected to stay 5 or more days.:( Briit and crew were awesome. We own a 38' diesel pusher motorhome which is on a Freightliner chassis. We arrived at the Silver Lake Resort campground last Saturday. While setting up camp I smelled an odor of burning gear oil in my front right wheel. I remember hearing a lot more "road noise" coming from the right front area while coming up the hill from Bishop. After phoning my mechanic at home I now realized there were oil reservoirs underneath the center cap of my Alcoa wheels. Long story short, I ran out of oil in the right front wheel and started to destroy my bearing, as evident by the metal shavings. I went to Yelp and found Britt's Diesel in Bishop. I phones Britt several times (without a doubt he was busy and I knew it from the tone in his voice) but he was very helpful. We finally decided it was not safe to bring the rig to him in Bishop, and he sent a mechanic (R.J.) to us. The repair was done and I finally had the peace of mind to enjoy the rest of our trip at camp as well as knowing we were good to travel home at the end of the week. While the repair was not cheap, I was very happy to pay it to ensure the safety of my wife and I, as well as preventing more damage to the rig. R.J. was very helpful and I am now schooled on how to maintain the front bearings. I highly recommend Britt's Diesel!!! read more

Towing our 5th wheel northbound out of Bishop yesterday in 102 degree temps. 2004 Chevy Duramax blew the intercooler hot side pipe loose from the boot on the upper left side of the engine. A problem I've experienced before. Unfortunately for me, I bent the 3" aluminum pipe while attempting to reconnect the pipe to rubber boot with the hose clamp. Dropped the 5th heel at 7000' on the pass, drove back to Britt's in Bishop. They were nothing short of fantastic. Bruce helped me with all the decisions. Tyler did all the underneath wrenching and let me help from the top. Mike hammered and reformed the damaged end of the 3" aluminum tube. Tyler helped again with the install and clearing the check engine light. Road ready in less than two hours. I tried to pay them, and Bruce wouldn't have it! I left him $60 in cash for the crew to have some frosty beverages later. I wouldn't go anywhere else for help in the Bishop area! read more

Britt's employees are amazing! We broke down in the June Lake Loop (luckily our 5th wheel was already parked in an RV resort) on Wednesday before Labor Day weekend. After calling around at 4:00 p.m. to see who could work on a 2000 Ford F250 Diesel, Britt's was recommended and we were told by several other mechanics and a tow shop "they are the best in area" and "that's where I take my truck". Long story short, they got us in (after a tow the next morning, which is another review because Lee Vining Towing was awesome as well) and the truck was fixed by 5:00 that afternoon (Thursday). Their expertise was as recommended by other experts in the area. For all we knew, it could have been a complicated expensive fix and on a holiday weekend; however, their integrity is unsurpassed. The mechanic took his time to explain and show us the issues and made recommendations for future preventive fixes. This business is highly organized and the employees run a top notch shop. We cannot express our gratitude enough or how impressed we were by their service. read more
