Is this a retirement home? I can't believe you all forgot to mention that part... the lunch buffet was decent though and a nice view.

Damned expensive hog slop. The feed store is much cheaper and fresher quality. Not even fit for dog food

I know you know yesterday was Valentine's Day, and it's a good day to take your "Better Half" (and…read moreyou know that's true) out for Dinner at one of her favorite places. "The Grill". That also sounds really good to me. We know The Grill will be busy, especially since Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday, so we left earlier than normal. Arrived, and a good number of cars were parked all around. Walked in, and the place is packed, with every bar stool and table taken. The Hostess said it will only be a few minutes for your table. In a couple of minutes, a table was available. After we were seated, more people arrived, but they also only had to wait a couple of minutes. The Grill has two bartenders working along with several servers, and a couple of employees cleaning up the tables when they become available. Our Server is Sophia, and she took our drink order. Two Jack-N-Cokes and waters. While we waited for our drinks, we looked over the menu. We kind of already know what we are going to order, and we did. My Wife is going with one of her usuals, their "Happy Hour Nachos" ($6.50), listed as 'Roasted Pork Nachos' on the main menu. Slow Roasted Pork, Chipotle Sauce, Tomatoes, Cilantro, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese over lots of Fresh Chips with Green sliced Jalapenos on one side, and Red sliced Jalapenos throughout the plate. I am going with the "Baja Fish Tacos", Blackened Baja Fish with Chipotle Sauce, and pickled Slaw. Served with Guacamole, Rice, Black Beans, and double Corn Tortillas for three Tacos. We placed our order with Sophia when she served our drinks. Then we toasted to Valentine's Day, and us. The bartenders here make the Best Jack-N-Cokes around. They are really good, smoooooooth, and go down easy. While we waited for our food, The Grill became busier and busier, with more people waiting. Glad we came a little early. Sophia stopped by, as well as one of the Managers checking on us to see if we needed anything. Service here is always tops. Soon our food arrived, and my Wife's Roasted Pork Nachos were served the same as they always have been, piled up high and covering the entire plate, and I might add, very colorful. I Love the way they prepare the Baja Fish Tacos with a Huge chunk of perfectly grilled fish all by itself next to the Rice & Black Beans, a large scoop of Fresh Guacamole, and several Corn Tortillas for you to make your own, with Pickled Slaw to the side. Both dishes are a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness that you will find nowhere else. The Grill does it right. My Wife's Nachos have a lot of melted cheese oozing everywhere with lots of corn chips and several pounds of Roasted Pulled Pork. Well, okay, maybe not 'pounds', but there are a lot of large chunks throughout this dish. She said it is delicious and loving that Pulled Pork. She ate about half of it and will take the rest home for a meal that will be for both of us - you get a lot of food at The Grill. I cut off a long chunk of fish, spread their Chipotle Sauce on a couple of corn tortillas, then the fish, topping it off with rice & black beans, guacamole, and their pickled slaw. This Fish Taco is Deliciousness and more. The perfectly grilled Baja Fish has lots of flavor with just enough spice from the chipotle sauce. I made three of these, each a little different, and they all were very Tastylicious. Each Taco was so filled with goodies I could not fold it over, and I ate them more like a Tostada instead. Either way, they are The Best. I also have some fish left over that I ate with the remaining sides, adding that chipotle sauce to each bite. I ate all of mine, with no leftovers to take home. While we were enjoying our food, Sophia said that she would like to take a picture of us with my camera because we are a cute couple. Hey, I couldn't disagree with that, so she did. Flattery will get you everywhere. Thank You Sophia. Well, guess what? Sophia earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm, and a nice tip. We boxed up my Wife's leftovers and headed home, and The Grill was still busy as ever when we left. This was a Great way to enjoy a Valentine's Day Dinner.

First, let me just say how nice it is to have a non-fast food…read moreplace to stop rest and get some food. cons: Month immediately, the first person you meet is the person who takes your order and she was sour as a lemon. Absolutely no customer service, no greeting, no smile. We all have bad days but you could tell this was just who she is... Maybe make her in charge of cleaning things and not dealing with the customers? (the same person could care less when the couple next to me received their order backwards. The woman couldn't eat spicy foods and her burger was covered with spicy items. She took it up to the woman taking orders and the woman refused to do anything. Wow.) The restrooms, wood sides along booths, pickle table and the condiments/tables need a serious cleaning - there is grossness abounding. I didn't see one person busing or cleaning in the restaurant - and it shows! Gross. The fries could've been great if they were crispy but they were all super soggy. FRY FAIL! Onions: you can leave them thick for the onion rings but if you're putting a slice of onion on my burger you better slice it thin. Nobody needs a huge half inch thick slice of onion in the middle of a burger. PRO: The burger was cooked to perfection. At least they got that right, which is why I gave them three stars - nothing else I experienced in this restaurant deserved any stars. The owner/manager are lazy at best cause they obviously don't care about the customer experience.

I will tell you right now, I was not expecting to give this place 5 stars. I ate Thanksgiving lunch…read morehere probably... 20 years ago when I lived in San Angelo. We were recently in town visiting family and wanted to eat before we left town to go home. The well-known place we used to eat now closes on Sundays. That's their loss because we've declared the Dun Bar our new Sunday lunch spot when we're in town. Thelma was our server and she was just delightful. This is probably the most hole in the wall place I've ever given full stars. Don't get me wrong, I love a hole in the wall, but sometimes the food in a hole in the wall is a little boring. Like this food, it was so simple, chicken fried steaks, grilled chicken breast, a Thanksgiving lunch on Sundays, side salads, humble sides... but it's all so absolutely ridiculously GOOD. We started with the large plate of onion rings (which is $7.50, btw, you won't find that anywhere else) and my sister lost her mind about them. lol For our entrees we had two chicken fried steak plates (different sides) and a grilled chicken plate. The gravy is served on the side, family style, and it was probably one of the best gravys I've ever had. It's not just flour and water, it tasted more complex like it had broth in it as well. Somehow with the modest price of these very flavorful dishes, they still give you free dessert. Very generous. I typically hate carrot cake, but this cake was moist and really good. It was almost like a spice cake, very well done. Do not sleep on this place. The surroundings are run down, the motel behind it has seen better days, but the food is legit and the kindness can't be beat. If you go on a Sunday, ask for Thelma and tell her the girls from Fort Worth say hi.

Food and service are always top notch! Can't go wrong with…read morethe burgers, catfish, chicken fry or the onion rings!!! Old time feel with a cafe, too!

I surprised my Wife by saying why don't we eat at Texas Roadhouse. Lots of cars & trucks parked…read morehere, but we found a spot. Walked in and was greeted by the Hostess area with lots of smiles. The Hostess then asked us if we wanted to sit at the Bar. They don't often ask this, but my Wife and I love sitting at the Bar in just about any restaurant. We took her up on it and sat at the Bar. Our Bartender/Server is Jocelyn, and she brought over a basket of their Famous House made Rolls with Cinnamon Butter. She asked us if we wanted anything to drink and an appetizer. My Wife ordered a glass of water, and I went with their Long Island Iced Tea. My Wife is going with their Appetizer "Killer Ribs"; Basket of Award Winning Ribs served with Steak Fries and their BBQ Sauce. I am having their "Bacon Cheeseburger"; Half Pound of Seasoned USDA Choice Ground Beef, prepared as requested (chose Med-Rare), served with Crispy Strips of Bacon, American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onion all on a Toasted Texas Sized Bun. Comes with Steak Fries and a Pickle Spear. Also requested a side of Mayo. We both LOVE Texas Roadhouse and most always get one of their Steaks. I also love their "Roadkill", which, in my opinion is the Best Roadkill around. If you haven't tried this dish, do so - Ya Gonna Luv It. We have been enjoying Texas Roadhouse for many a year, but I have never ordered their Burgers of any kind and looking forward to my first one. My Wife and I toasted with our drinks. Texas Roadhouse makes a Very Fine Long Island Iced Tea, and we (or this time, me) ordered one. It's very smoooooth with a nice flavor. We also devoured those Four Large Fresh Hot Rolls, and the butter just melted all within. They have a Just-Right Sweetness in every bite and melt in your mouthliciousness. It's taking a while for our food order because this place is now packed. I think everyone that came just before us ordered at the same time, but that's okay because I have one of their Long Island Iced Teas - and sitting at the Bar with my Baby. Jocelyn came over to us often and chatted while the full bar of customers was enjoying their drinks and food. At this point, I gave her the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm. She loved it and is saving it in a safe place. She also has a very cute smile, and we both love her long hair. I can say that because my Wife said it first. See guys, you wait until your girlfriend or wife says something like this before you do. Then it's okay - she won't bite your head off and you won't wind up in the doghouse. Our food arrived and both are a Beautiful Presentation. The Killer Ribs are glistening and the aroma if filling your nose with deliciousness. It's also a Very Large Section of Ribs. The large amount of Steak Fries are underneath the Ribs. My Bacon Cheeseburger is Amazingly Huge with the Bacon hanging out all around the half pound seasoned patty. It also has lots of tomatoes and onions. The Cheese is also dripping down the sides of the patty. This is built with care, and like I said, is a Beautiful Presentation. They give you a nice amount of Golden-Brown Steak Fries that have a slight crunch on the outer edges. Now for my first bite, which I chose to go for the middle and get whatever I could, which was everything on the Cheeseburger - except for the very top Bun. Like I said, it's HUGE. The Seasoned Half Pound Patty is prepared perfectly with lots of flavor. All the other ingredients in this Cheeseburger add to that flavor making it one of the Best Cheeseburgers I have ever had. I wish I would have ordered this years earlier, but last night was a Flavorful experience. Every bite after that was an Amazing Tasty experience. They have other Burgers to choose from, and one day I just might do that, but that Bacon Cheeseburger ---- WOW ---- that was Awesome. My Wife said her Killer Ribs were a little too hard for her around the edges, but was very flavorful. When Jocelyn checked on us, my Wife informed her. Jocelyn than said that she would get her another one, and talked my Wife into exchanging the Killer Ribs for another one. Since she insisted, my Wife agreed. Soon the second Killer Ribs arrived, and they are also a good size, are glistening and looking good. She took one bite and agreed that this is much better. It does have the slight outer crunch, just like it's supposed to, and very Tenderlicious with lots of flavor. I think I even saw my Wife drooling a little - that's how good those Ribs are. Their BBQ sauce is also some pretty good stuff. I had some on my Steak Fries, and it's very tasty. My Wife ate some of those Killer Ribs, but after enjoying those Steak Fries, she was full and took the rest of the Killer Ribs home. Just like any great restaurant, sometimes you get something that isn't Just-Right, and TRH will replace it for you. My Lunch the next day was those Killer Ribs: They are fall off the bone because when I picked up a Rib Bone that's what they did. Get ya some soon.
