Yesterday was my Wife's Birthday, and we went out to Celebrate. Joe, Nancy's son, came over for the celebrations. We all left for "The GRILL" and when we entered, the place was packed, but they did have a table available, and it was near the Kitchen. At most restaurants, you don't want to be near the Kitchen, but at The GRILL, it's a great place to sit because you are closer to all that Aroma that fills the air all over the entire restaurant, and you get to watch them grill those Steaks. Haylee came over to our table to say "Hello". She is one of the Bartenders here at this time, and informed us that our Server is Katie, who will be with us shortly. We informed her that it's Nancy's "80th" Birthday, and Haylee wished her a Happy Birthday. We also ordered our drinks, Jack-N-Cokes for Nancy and me; Joe is having a Miller Lite. Katie came over shortly, and we informed her that Haylee took our drink order. Soon our drinks arrived, and we toasted to the Birthday Girl. Happy Birthday Nancy. We then looked over the menu some more, trying to decide what we wanted. This is a hard decision because everything they prepare here is delicious, and one of the Best Presentations of Tastyliciousness in town. When Katie returned, we placed our orders. The Birthday Girl is going with, and there is no surprise here, their "Slow Roasted Pork Nachos"; Chipotle Sauce, diced Tomatoes, Cilantro, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese over Fresh Chips with sliced Green Jalapenos on the side, all covering a load of Fresh, Crunchy Chips. Joe is having their "Baby Back Ribs", "Fall-Off-The-Bone-Ribs" with house-made BBQ Sauce, served with Creamy Coleslaw & Shoestring Potatoes. He also ordered a side Salad with House Dressing. I am going with one of my favorites - everywhere - a Burger. Not just any burger, but their "Texas Burger": Half Pound of Seasoned Fresh Ground Chuck, Shredded Cheddar Cheese, Canadian Bacon, Onions, jalapeños, and mustard with Mesquite Sauce. Served with Shoestring Potatoes (choice). Orders are in, and we ordered another round of drinks for us. The GRILL has the best Bartenders in the area, and their drinks go down smooooooth. Our drinks arrived just before the food did, and it's hard to decide what to enjoy next. Okay, it was kind of easy. When you are presented with a drink, you take a sip just to let the drink know you appreciate it being a good drink. The GRILL does an amazing job with their Presentation of food. Joe's Baby Back Ribs are glistening on his platter (yes, a platter, not a plate), waiting for him to indulge. They didn't have to wait very long, because he did just that. Those Ribs have a lot of bones across the platter, and he started at one end and went to the other end. He said it was delicious, or something like that, because when one drools, it's hard to come up with the words. Their Shoestring Potatoes are always good, and the Creamy Coleslaw has a nice crunch to it, along with tasty flavoring. My Wife, as always, enjoyed those Slow Roasted Pork Nachos. There is a lot of pulled pork in there, along with a lot of everything else. The Jalapeños are on the side, so you can add as much heat to each bite as you want. This dish is not only Tastylicious, but a very Colorful one at that. It's like Christmas in August. Nancy ate more of this than she normally does. I took a bite, and it is really good, and what a deal. Joe finished off the rest, and the plate is clean. I have had this Texas Burger a few times before, and it's a hard one to pass up each time we are here. This must be a full Half-Pound patty, because it's Thick & Big. Love the strong taste and the amount of Cheddar Cheese Strips on this Burger; it's not too much, but it's also not a little amount. The Jalapeños are also just the right amount of heat to complement every bite. The Canadian Bacon on a Texas Burger does not sound right, but it is the right touch. The flavor goes perfectly with the entire Burger. For me, this entire Texas Burger is the Best Burger in the area, and I have had many a burger all over. Love those Shoestring Potatoes. They have a nice Crunch all the way around and are salted Just-Right. I usually do not salt anything per Doctor's orders, but these I make an exception for. The Texas Burger does it for me every time I order it. Every one of us joined the Clean Plate Club for the night, and we all get a Gold Star. Haylee and Katie earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm. Haylee made our drinks for the night, and Katie checked on us throughout our stay at just the right time. Service at The GRILL has always been tops, and it was that again. read more

The place is small but cozy! Aiden was the best server! He was knowledgeable about the meal recommendations and was polite and courteous! The appetizer was a cheese and guacamole dip.. this was not the best queso but the guacamole was delicious! We ordered the blackened fish and 8oz sirloin! The steak had a good char and was well seasoned too! I order my steak rare and it was rare! Yes! The loaded mashed potatoes were very good too! The fish was well cooked and not dry. 1/2026 our friends treated us here for dinner our first week in San Angelo after relocating from the Great Lakes area. My husband and I were really disappointed with our bbq rib dinner because both of our dinners were barely warm. Our friends told us to flag down our waitress and send them back. Our waitress was really nice so I'm not going to unload on this place in my review. Highly unlikely we will come back. UPDATED REVIEW, today 3/14/26 we returned for a second try. Who knows what happened the first go around but let's move on. This evening my husband and I both had the bbq rib dinner as shown and WOW, what a difference. These ribs were perfectly prepared, served hot, tender off the bone, the bbq sauce was perfect as were the fries and coleslaw. Our friends had the roasted chicken dinner and a salmon dinner and the both were very pleased with their choices. The restaurant was busy and had a great vibe. This was really a perfect dinner with great company and a really wonderful staff. So, after tonight's visit I've upped to 5 stars and we look forward to our next visit. This was easily one of the worst dining experiences I can remember--and the problems started the second I walked in. A gentleman dressed in black stood at the entrance staring at me without greeting me or saying a word. There was no indication he even worked there. I finally asked, "Do you work here?" He barely nodded. I told him I was meeting a friend--still nothing. I eventually found my friend myself and sat down around 6:10 p.m. I ordered a dirty blue cheese martini, something this restaurant has been known for, but was told they were out of blue cheese olives. I switched to a regular dirty martini and didn't receive it until almost 7:00 p.m. Nearly 50 minutes for a drink. From there, it honestly felt like we were being punked. We ordered two shots of Crown--they brought one. Our waiter was so overwhelmed that another waitress eventually took over. My friend specifically ordered loaded mashed potatoes without chives. They arrived covered in chives. Mine were supposed to be loaded and arrived completely plain. I asked for cheese and bacon on a side dish for us both, was told that was exactly what they would bring, and instead they brought an entirely new order of mashed potatoes--for my friend. I also ordered a tomato and blue cheese salad that never came with my meal. When it finally arrived, it had tomatoes stuffed with blue cheese--which was especially ironic considering we had just been told they couldn't make the blue cheese olives. The restaurant was not busy enough to justify this level of confusion and inefficiency. The food was okay, but certainly not good enough to overcome the service. Hence the 2 stars instead of zero. The final touch? The waitress apologized for "all the confusion" and then said, "Who knows, dessert may be better--you never know." We decided not to find out. This wasn't one mistake. It was a complete breakdown in hospitality, communication, accuracy, and basic service from the moment I walked through the door. Serious staff training and efficiency issues need to be addressed before anyone should ever consider returning. read more

This is the second time to eat here. Once again it did not disappoint! I had the grilled shrimp with mashed potatoes and spaghetti squash. It was delicious!! Came here as it was close to my hotel and had some good reviews. I ordered the New Mexico patty melt with fries and was very happy with the meal. Burger was cooked to order and was quite flavorful with a nice kick from the green chiles. It was served on a very flavorful rye bread that was slightly bigger than the burger so there were a few bites of just bread, but it was very good bread so I didn't mind! The restaurant features an open kitchen so it was fun to watch the cooks making the food. The music was really enjoyable, and not so loud as to be annoying. My waitress was pleasant but didn't do a very good job of checking up on me. I ordered an excellent ale to start and finished it soon after my meal arrived. I was hoping for another but she didn't come by to check on me until I was nearly done with my meal. I mentioned this to her and she apologized, but there was no sincerity in her voice or her actions. Overall a good experience and I definitely recommend the restaurant. I just hope you get a server with a little better people skills. read more

The brisket was delicious tacos were delicious. I also ordered the cornbread but do not recommend the it. It would fall apart when I attempted to eat it. The texture and favor were not that good. The price on my entree plate was around $16.00. The bread was a bit pricey considering it's not that good. Plus it seemed that I had been served a 3 day old cornbread. I hope the cook baked a better batch. Or maybe he just doesn't have pride in his work. I had tried this place because it had a good rating. I won't be back. I heard yall fired your #1 bartender for a personality difference. He was always so friendly, consistently professional, loyal, hardworking, and significantly upped y'all's game in the cocktail department. I could go on. He is the singular reason we have been not only eating there religiously, but taking our family, friends, and employees for years. We (and there are A LOT of us) that will NEVER eat there again, ever; nor will they. Yall lost a great employee and a ton of patrons. If yall haven't figured it out yet, it's not all about the food, it's more about the people and the experience. This is one of the restaurants that everyone recommended to me when I asked about where to eat. I say in their enclosed patio because it was heated and warmer than inside the restaurant. Service was fast and friendly. Food was good. I got the cast iron corn bread planning on taking it home. That was amazing. I was told it had poblano peppers. But it also has cheese! I also got the brisket tacos. They were very good. I had had the ribs recommended to me, but the waitress said it was a lot of food, and I am leaving town soon. So I'll it some other time. I got the tres leches cake to go. It also was great. Not the best I've had, that's still in Ecuador. But it was saturated and flavorful. It had fruit and whipped cream on the side. Both plusses! The Grill is one of my favorite restaurants in San Angelo! The food is always amazing and the service and atmosphere are great as well. The smoked salmon app is top notch...and the jalapeño cornbread app is next level. I am pretty sure they use it for the croutons in the salad also... elevates the whole salad! I have loved the grill for years. I love their brunch, but I'm obsessed with their fish tacos. This is where I come for a casual lunch or a celebratory drink. My server/wait staff, BRAD...was super. This gentleman took care of tea refills and was extremely attentive to my wife and I . I was just wish I remembered his last name. This young man was beyond extraordinary. The ambience was a little louder than I would like...however the service and delectable food was worth a little noise. The only reason I went here is because of their KEY LIME pie. I also love the appetizer of guacamole and queso. One of my favorite main courses is the Meat Loaf. Does this 1/4 inch, "12oz" ribeye steak look like it is worth $48?! Given the menu did state this over priced "seven steak" was market value. I always put my wallet in the hands of a chef to deliver a top notch product if the price is inflated. I'm a foody I will pay way to high of prices for a unique experience, and or excellence. But today I feel over charged and honestly....left in a bad mood. I saw the gentlemen behind me had ordered this as well as I walked out I said, "doesn't look like a $48 dollar steak does it"? As his eyes widened I could tell this good ol country boy knew he should have just cooked one at the house too. Cornbread is really good worth the money all day. Chicken parm was just about as good as fazoli's. Nothing special. Also if you order queso it's pimento cheese without the pimento lol. I suggest you go to cork and pig or angry cactus for your beef folks. You will be much happier. Or the grill can up their game cut a nice thick steak. I mean roadhouse was better quality. This evening our server Brianna was attentive and ensured we had our drinks topped off. Then there is the food! Zuni Chicken Salad - roasted chicken with bacon vinaigrette! The crunch of the pecans and sweetness of the raisins were a perfect combination to the spinach leaves. It all jived together like a well orchestrated play. My cousin had the Mexico City Enchiladas. The taste was like a little bit twist of chili powder and chipotle in a creamy dark red sauce. Topped with cheese and stuffed with chicken. They were very tasty. My cousin finished the whole plate. I only got one bite!! My appetizer was chips, cheese and guacamole. I don't normally do a chunky guac, but this was different. Almost like a spread. The cheese reminded of pimento cheese but with flavor! I'm usually a person that pays attention to detail, most times and in this case we got to sit in the very back. I watched as the cooks carefully prepared steaks, and plates. I watched how the the cook brought in fresh cut wood for the grill. I watched the back line cooks prepare fresh guacamole by slicing each one with precision. Then adding like juice and other ingredients. The other back prep cook was slicing what appeared to be a freshly seasoned bone in pork loin. He was slicing it into pork chops. You know stuff is done right when cooks like that are taking their time and preparing food fresh. read more

It was my first time in San Angelo TX and I arrived about 8:00 pm hoping to find a restaurant with a bar still serving until 9 pm that wasn't a chain. The smell as you walk up to the restaurant was enticing enough for me! They had some drink specials, a wonderful wine and beer selection and very friendly service. I never had "Rotisserie Pork Chops" - they were perfectly seasoned and cooked in a way that they weren't dry. You get 2 big, bone-in chops!! The Grill was so good that I made a reservation for the next night and brought 5 more people. Six people at a table can be a little tight in the restaurant, but there's always outside seating. Service on both nights was perfect. I had the rib-eye that night. On any future trips, I'm going to have to try the Rotisserie Chicken. read more

The Grill is usually a great place for food & amazing drinks. Best margaritas on the planet. We all ordered Birria tacos. What a let down when we were served. I think the chef needs to revisit the recipe. It was served with tasteless white rice and canned black beans. The meat was tender but bland and served with cold mini corn tortillas. We took the meat to go and I made actual birria tacos by placing the tender beef inside a fried corn tortilla with cheese. If they made actual birria tacos as the recipe calls for, they would be an extremely popular dish! read more

My Rigatoni was delicious although not very hot and my wife's Famous Pastrami sandwich was also on the cooler side, but her fries were hot. Thinking both dishes were waiting on the fries. Service was excellent and she was very attentive. The ambiance is casual with outside patio seating . Wish we had sat on the patio as it was much warmer than the inside of the restaurant. Note to self, take a jacket next time! All in all, I would recommend The Grill and hopefully next time we have a better experience. read more
