"TASTY DELICIOUS MEXICAN RESTAURANT" Yesterday my Wife prepared a Salad for 20 people and we dropped it off right around Dinner time, so, since we are out and about we decided to go out to eat at a place that was recommended to us that we have never been - and it's right up the street from where we dropped off the Salad. Well, kind of up the street, but it's close enough. Arrived at "Jalapenos Locos" at around 6:30pm or so, a half hour before Happy Hour ends. The place is beautifully decorated and packed but there is a booth open for us. The Chips and Salsa girl was right there for us to start enjoying what is a staple at every Mexican Restaurant. Right behind her was our Server, Dina. We inquired about their Margaritas and ordered two Frozen Margaritas. Dina also explained what their Specials of the Day are, the Fried Catfish and the Combination Dinner. Both sounded just like what we wanted to order. My Lovely Wife is having their "Fried Fish Friday Special"; Hand Breaded Fish with house made Tartar Sauce & Two Lemon Wedges, served with Crispy Golden Brown French Fries. I am having the "Friday Special Combination Plate"; Two Crunchy Beef Tacos with Lettuce & Tomato, Two Chicken Enchiladas (choice) covered in a Sour Cream Cheesy Sauce, served with Refried Beans & Rice. Orders are complete. Now for those Chips & Salsa. The Chips are served warm, crunch and a nice flavor. The Salsa is also served warm and it has a very fresh peppery flavor, one of the Best I have ever had with just the right amount of Spiciness. Soon our Frozen Margaritas arrived and we love the glasses. These are so 'thick' that my Wife started eating hers with a fork. I'm using the straw and it is holding up fine, but stirring helps. They are some of the Best Tasting Margaritas Ever - deliciousness at it's finest. Jalapenos Locos consist of two rooms, one side with dining room tables and booths, the other side is the large Bar with dining room tables, and both sides are filled with people waiting to take over any empty table/booth. Dina stopped by and we chatted for a while and she pointed out to the gentleman and lady at the booth next to us, it's the Owner, Bernie. Bernie turned around and we also chatted with him. This guy is the real deal - down to earth type and was great talking to him. You know a Restaurant has really good food when the owner eats there also, right next to you. The Host/Hostess at the door entrance greets everyone like family, because all the customers here are like family to all the staff. Happiness is all over Jalapenos Locos. Dina earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm. Soon our food arrived and both plates are a Beautiful Presentation of Mexicanliciousness. Lots and lots of Fish on that plate, with a good amount of Golden French Fries. My Wife LOVES her Fried Fish and the house made Tartar sauce is right-on. The breading on the fish is crispyliciousness with the fish being fresh, flaky and tasty. I had two pieces of them and I can truthfully say this fish the Best and is Very Tastylicious - and served Hot. My Beef Crunch Tacos are loaded up to the top and have a Tacolicious taste in every bite, especially with their Salsa. The Chicken Enchiladas are stuffed with a lot of shredded Chicken and are Very Enchiladalicious. Love that Sour Cream Cheesy Sauce - it's some really good stuff. The Refried Beans and Rice area also very delicious. When you first walk inside the decor catches your eyes and makes you feel like you are in an a truly delicious Mexican Restaurant, and when they serve you their Margaritas and your food, you start enjoying some of the finest around. Then you know you are in a truly delicious Mexican Restaurant. Jalapenos Locos does Everything Right. We ordered another Frozen Margarita to share and to enjoy with the last of our food on our plates. Jalapenos Locos is now our Best Mexican Restaurant in San Angelo - it's all that good. Can't wait to come back here and try some of their other Delicious Dinners - and they have a huge menu to choose from, with Specials from Tuesday through Friday along with other Specials and Happy Hour from 4 to 7pm. Closes at 3:00pm on Sundays, closed all day Mondays. Check'em out on Facebook; Jalapenos Locos - On the way home my Baby and I enjoyed another beautiful evening in San Angelo. Great place to stop in for a solid Mexican meal. The salsa is served warm, not a fan of that, but the flavor was on point so I just added ice cubes. The chips are perfectly crispy. The best thing I had wasn't even my order, my dad gave me one of his asada tacos. Probably the best and most tender asada I've ever had. I would get that again every time, loved it. The rice and beans are all really good. I had the guiso plate, gravy was fantastic, meat was a teeny bit tough but I still liked it pretty well. The fried avocado was okay, the breading was a little bland. Basically, the chips and that asada would get me to come back. I don't live in San Angelo, but when I'm here, that's what I'm looking for now, that asada. read more

Great food and great staff. Fast service. Bernie is a way cool guy who runs the ship with his father and family. This place has lots of local history. Open since March 2017 and going strong yet. Full bar area as well. Said to have best margaritas in town. Nacho plates looked amazing we saw coming out. My fajitas had a killer good seasoning on them. Beans and rice also done just right. Will be back here again for sure. Great 4-7pm weekday happy hour going here as well. read more

The food at Jalapeños Locos was excellent! My Al pastor and carne asada tacos were delicious. My wife had the cheeseburger which was also excellent. Who knew a Mexican restaurant would be known for cheeseburgers! Lulu, our server was very attentive and described the different dishes we asked about. We told her it was our first time there and she said to feel free to walk around and check the rest of the restaurant out. The ambiance here is very casual and a lot of the patrons we regulars and having dinner after the rodeo that's in town. We will definitely be going back to Jalapeños Locos soon. You'll be happy you did!!! read more

Good food, it's nice to have a smaller choice of a menu item for when you don't want to eat a big meal

Go see Franco and his crew. They are down right friendly and personable!! Food was pretty good for my first time there. I had the Franco's Special. Chicken breast smothered with cheese sauce, rice and beans. The chicken breast was just a little on the cool side. Had a good flavor, just a little cold. It still didn't stop me from devouring all of it. Chips and salsa were plentiful. Looking around the other tables, I can't wait to try some of the other stuff. The food looked pretty good. I'll definitely go back. Thank you Franco!! read more

Love this local spot where the food and service are great. A varied menu of way more than the usual taco or enchilada w/rice and beans plate at other joints. The salsa that comes with the complimentary chips and salsa is served warm, like just off the stove, something unique and took a little bit to get used to. The Vera Cruz tacos are my fav. read more

it was nothing spectacular, can't even say good. ordinary. now the restaurant was full, so maybe tex mex is not my thing.

Such. Great. Food!!! First restaurant my husband I ate at....sooooooo good! It's one of those hole-in-the-wall that isn't, but the food is amazing! If you're not looking out of the passenger side going down Chadbourne, you're going to miss it, so make sure you A) get there early, it's soo popular and gets busy quick! And B) have someone looking out of the passenger side so you don't miss this place! And the drinks...so good too! You won't be disappointed! read more

Came in on taco Tuesday, originally was going to order the chicken street tacos plate but the waitress let us know that today their street tacos are .99 cents. Myself as well as 2 others I was with ordered variants of the street tacos. About 10 minutes went by when the waitress came back and said the 99 cent tacos are only ground beef because it's a cheap meat. So we all had to revert back to the $9 street taco plate that is limited in meat variety and comes with beans and rice and only 3 tacos. She then proceeds to tell us the flour tortillas that some ordered were more expensive because it was bigger than the corn tortillas for street tacos and asked if they wanted to change their tortilla which of course they did. They advertise a bar and when I asked for a margarita, they don't actually have a liquor license so it's wine based. Which is basically a sangria. Now, to the flavor...it had none. I got the chicken, another person got the fish and another got the carne asada. We each traded so we could try one of each variant. None of them were good. Asked for salsa verde and the waitress said they didn't have any. For the inconvenience of giving wrong info about the tacos, they did give us a complimentary queso dip which was so thin and watery that it ran off the chip. This is not good authentic Mexican food. You're better off going to Tacos Locos. Or even taco bell at this point. Also, it took 30 minutes from the time we ordered to get our food. read more

Amazing Mexican food in a great, fun, casual atmosphere. Never had a bad meal here!! Everything is great!

Jalapeño Loco's is one of my favorite places to eat in San Angelo. All the Mexican food is good, the steak fingers are good so is the chicken and the fried fish. The waitstaff is attentive and they keep your drinks full. They bring to-go boxes with a bag to carry our leftovers home. The manager and cashier are great! Try eating there if you want good food. read more

I highly recommend this place to everyone. Great Customer Service. They have a great selection on their menu. You can't go wrong with anything you select. Waitresses provide great service. The owner comes around and checks on everyone. Makes sure you are taken care of. They have a Happy Hour with a large selection. Shout to their staff and cooks. Thank you read more

I love the menu! i love that they have queso fundido! We enjoy the queso very much, particularly with the toasted tortilla bread. We were a little frustrated with the burritos and pork chops. The servings were substantial but... the burritos and pork chops were saltier than we are used to, and i could not really enjoy that they are also juicy because of the salt. The service is very nice; everyone we talked to was pleasant and helpful. We will try this place again. Edit of original post: My husband and i are sensitive to salt at restaurants because we use so little at home and don't eat a lot of prepared foods that are already salted. Most people prefer much more salt than we do, so it should not be an issue for most people. read more

The food was well made and presented. There was a large group of us (23) and the waitress was exceptional with fast service and no mistakes!

I was craving Street Tacos. There is a place on every corner here in San Angelo. Too many to decide so we took to Yelp. Out of all of the street taco places this one was the worst. The best thing was the salsa that was warmer (both spicy and temp) than the food. I got the Asada - wife got carnita. Both came with beans and rice. The tacos come 3 to a plate with only one layer of corn not 2 like most. We did get this to go so I give 2 stars For the benefit of the doubt that it could have been there container. read more

This place is the reason I come to San Angelo for Mexican food!! The food served hot straight from the oven. The fajita quesadillas are the best I have ever eaten! They are filled with either chicken or beef Faijtas meat and fresh grilled peppers and onions and the melted cheese pulls it all together. And the fresh pico de gallo takes it to the next level. Also, make sure to get it with the side of coleslaw. I can't wait to be back in town to try the chile relleno. read more

5.0 Stars Location Overview: This establishment is located on Ave K and Chadbourne across the street from Super Mercadro. This restaurant is plenty big for anysize party. The decor and layout is great and festive. Customer Service: I have never had a bad experience with the waitstaff (except for one), mostly on top of getting drinks refilled and making sure we do not need anything. I will mention this only because it was a bigger deal to me than anyone else - I work with great individuals of Law Enforcement, the justice court system and Probation and have family of the military. So i stand proud of my background, life choices and field of work. However. if this establishment is going to be pro all of these fields of work than lets do that. But if we are not going to give discounts to a certain person lets not degrade on their field of work just because they ask about the discount... moving on.. Quality/Quantity: The quality of the food is great! My food is more than fantastic when I order, comes out sizzlimg hot eveey single time. The queso is freakin awesome!!! I get greedy and order two. The quantity is your average meal for any mexican restaurant that you go to here in San Angelo. Side Note: To all my brothers/sisters of LE and the military, if your not wearing your uniform someone will make a scene about you asking about the discount. Great for large parties, GET THE QUESO WITH YOUR CHIPS! read more

This was the chance for me and my hubs to get out and try something new on a different side of town. We were not disappointed with the quality of the food. It was fresh fantastic, and on . No literally everything had Jalapenos in it hence the name jalapeno Loco. But it was mild where needed to be and perfectly blended with every dish. The serving size could have been a little bit bigger for the price but still overall it is quality over quantity and that's more important. Ask for Liz she was happy while taking care of us. read more

First time here and I'm glad we tried it! I had the chili relleno and my friends had the enchilada plates. The food was VERY GOOD, reasonably priced, and the service was satisfactory. The absolute ONLY complaint we had was that they give you a tiny little bowl of chips and salsa for the whole table. We devoured them quickly and it was difficult for our server to keep them filled adequately. We'll be back, though! It was yummy read more

My wife and I have been here on numerous occasions. Our first few times the food was fantastic but the last couple of times the quality has seemed to gone done. It was during busy time so they were possibly trying to rush which left the food lacking. Either way it's not bad food by far but has fallen out of my top 3 choices in San Angelo. read more

Stopped by for take out. Three orders of beef fajitas, order of chicken quesadillas and an order of guacamole. Fajitas were thick chunks of unflavored, sinewy toughness, quesadilla had onion slices which consisted of the inedible outer peel and extremely dry chicken and the included order of ranchero beans tasted as if it was the bottom scoop in a pot that is starting to burn. Everything tasted off or had no flavor. We threw away most of it. Only thing decent thing was their flour tortillas and salsa. Even the guacamole was terrible. No lime and heavily salted I mean SALTED. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in the area, pick another. Heck Rosa's shines in comparison. NOT RECOMMENDED. read more

The food was delicious and the service was awesome. Just be careful with the small plates for kids- they are very, very, very hot. We had to request cold plates for our littles. They were also very accommodating with our order. The salsa was yummy and packed quite a kick! We will be back. read more

I ordered through favor. If you're going to describe your chicken sandwich as coming with cheese, cilantro-lime aioli, and avocado, then you should probably actually have it come with what it's described as, instead of a dry, sad chicken sandwich with none of the accoutrements. I'm mad because I wasted money on a terrible chicken sandwich. Thanks. read more

Stopped in by chance for takeout for fajitas and a quesadilla. The food had a burnt taste to it, maybe old oil was used in cooking the meats. Potions were small and the meat chewy. The pico de gallo had no flavor and the guacamole was salty with very little flavor. The staff seemed nice but I would not go here expecting flavorful Mexican food. On a positive note, the tortillas were good. read more

Visiting San Angelo and found this very friendly and delicious resturant. Appetizer of queso flambou was tops, perfect amount of spice/jalapenos. We tried the shrimp salad (grilled shrimp, pineapple, red onions) & street taco with rancho beans ( again the right amount of spice) both very good. Sadly, no room left to try the sopapillas.
