I've been to Cielo twice now. The food is good. I've had the Azada and the fish tacos. I've also tried the guaco. The chip/salsa are fine. The food comes out amazingly quickly both times I've been here, but it hasn't been busy, so I don't know if that changes if it's busy. I'd come back again. This is the 2nd meal I've had, here. I ordered chicken fajitas for one (no beans) and queso. The queso blanco was $7 and the consistency of water, no real flavor. The chicken fajitas were very flat and again - very little flavor, no recognizable spice. Lots of red and green peppers but the onions weren't overwhelming, which is good. The flour tortillas were hard. I ordered this meal for carry out and was charged 50 cents for a take out order. The place was empty when I picked up the order so I'm not sure how they'll fare. read more

This restaurant is quite large and even on a Friday night two of us got a table right away. Excellent service from our waiter and the restaurant manager. We order guacamole which they come and make fresh table side. It was very good but could have used a little more seasonings. I ordered a quesadilla which was a huge portion and delicious. My daughter ordered the chimichangas which came smothered in cheese sauce which made them soggy. So we ended up sharing my quesadilla and not eating any of the chimichangas. The best part about the meal was the rice and beans - next time I go I would just order those - very authentic like my Grandma used to make! Paloma was plentiful and acceptable, not the best I've ever tasted but a good value overall. And they have lots of choices on their drink menu. Probably the best choice would be a margarita - when in Rome, right? read more

A colleague I stopped in here for a late lunch / early dinner. There were maybe two other people in the restaurant when we arrived so it was pretty empty. We were seated quickly and our server promptly provided us a glass of ice water and our menus. Because we arrive during happy hour we decided to get the margarita on the rocks, there must not have been very much alcohol in this one because it tasted entirely like mixture. We both ordered our meals I had the enchilada with shredded chicken. It wasn't long before both of our meals were ready. While we waited, our server brought us chips and salsa, which was very tasty. My chicken enchilada was very good but nothing to write home about. I wasn't a fan of the black beans which were like refried beans, but black. There wasn't much flavor at all. read more

We are visiting San Angelo for the eclipse. And were super excited to find a fantastic Mexican restaurant for dinner. The margaritas were excellent and well priced the salsa had a good level heat. The fajitas we ordered were some of the best we have had in a restaurant. We also had the pollo poblano and every bite was fantastic. The food was excellent. I had the Barbacoa Tacos and they were fantastic!! Our entire group also expressed that their food was equally delicious. Service was yuck and efficient and the server was very pleasant. Decor is traditional Mexican and they had several TV to watch if you were so inclined. Restaurant is larger than I thought with plenty of seating. I was told that the food was expensive here, but after looking at the meal prices I would say they are comparable to most of the other quality restaurants around. So far, in my 4 weeks of residence in town, this is by far the best among the few Mexican theme places I have dined at. Even compared to those in other cities I have lived in. darn good eats here. Based on 1 visit and one entree, I am very pleased. I also saw what two other patrons dining next to me got and dang! Those looked good also! My molecajete was pure awesome start to end. A hard entree to find in the first place, they have it and they do it well! Hot stone volcanic black rock, brim-full of sizzling hot cactus, roasted salsa, a chunk of queso cheese, chorizo, onions, peppers, seasoned chicken, steak, and shrimp. Comes with side plate of black beans, red rice, sour cream and pico. A meal fit for a king! The couple next to me got the shrimp diablo, a plate of diablo sauce surrounding large grilled shrimp, and a mound of red rice. I wanted that bad! The other gal had the Cali burrito and dang! That was huge! I am getting that next time for sure! I ate at the bar solo and its a cool spot hang out and chat with the servers and bar staff. Purely a Mexican vibe going on in there for sure. This place is my radar for many visits when my craving for Mexican grub hits again. read more

First time in San Angelo and first time here at Cielo. The space was large and dark but not too dark. The shades were drawn for the heat. There were floor fans running so I guess cause of a faulty AC, but it was temperate enough I didn't mind. When I arrived after 6 on Monday it was not busy at all. So I sat at the very large bar in the back. The bartender was busy so I waited a bit longer than I expected but it didn't dampen my experience. I tried their Cielo margarita which was tasty but too sweet and syrupy for my taste. Others might enjoy it. I was shocked they had some "vegetarian" options. I didn't ask the bartender for details so I'm assuming everything I ordered did not have meat or meat broth in it except the rice. The poblano tacos was good and I would order them again, except maybe with some salsa of some kind. Overall good clean restaurant, decent service, and good food. read more

We cannot say enough good things! After a terrible experience at another restaurant the night prior this was such a joy! Our service was amazing and they were so attentive which was great. Then the food--fantastic! The guacamole was some of the best we had ever had, chips were delicious as was the salsa. Ceviche tasted so fresh and had the perfect amount of citrus added. Of the six of us, no one had complaints about entrees either! Everything was delicious and we had nothing leftover. So glad we decided to try this place and we will certainly be back! read more

AMAZING. I had the Enchiladas Tampiqueñas. One of the best things I've eaten in my life. Very large portions so perfect for leftovers the next day. I loved the sauce on the enchiladas and the fact that it came with big strips of chicken on top. A 10/10 meal, I will definitely be back. read more

We visited on a Friday night. There was a wait to be seated. The staff recommended we wait in the car and they would call when our table was ready since the waiting area is closed due to COVID. We were seated with no menus, nor did they instruct us to scan the menu when we walked in. Luckily we looked at the menu while we were waiting in the car.
