    Huevos con chorizo

Came here for breakfast and ordered huevos con chorizo and horchata. The plate came with some refried beans, hash brown, and some tortilla. The food tastes decent. The horchata was made from powder. However, I haven't had horchata for a long time. I gulped two glass down without any discrimination. But yes, you can't compare powder from homemade. The price is reasonable for the food.

Hidalgo's was on the spot good authentic Tex-Mex food, just what I hoped it would be. The value for the amount of food you get is incredible. I have for another meal and probably a snack. I ordered the deluxe meal with taco, cheese and beef enchiladas, and a Chile Relleno. The flavor was great the temperature was good. I especially like the seasoning of the ground beef, it is probably simple but effective few spices maybe onion and salt and pepper. Every bite was full of the flavor of Mexican food just like I remember from my trips below the border. They have beer available, I saw pictures of a Margarita but didn't see them on the menu. They also serve breakfast so keep that in mind as well.

On Sunday April 7,2019. Visited this Hidalgo's restaurant for lunch. My husband order a cheeseburger with fries , I ordered the chicken tapatios. Close to the end of my meal I find this . This is gross and disgusting. I addressed it to the waitress and she says , " I guess this came from the kitchen ". I'm very disgusted. Beware when you go to this restaurant

Only leaving this for out of town people like myself who think this is a decent Mexican restaurant. It's not, stop in your tracks and go somewhere else. 1) i asked for a side of sour cream expecting quite a bit for my chips and received a sample tube. 2) They acted surprised when we didn't eat the chili con queso, it looks like Frito-Lay brand cheese sauce. 3) Hormel chili sauce was what topped the enchilada.. is anything at this place actually made from scratch or all from jars? 4) Also the sweet tea is sitting in cups waiting to be ordered just so they can add ice. Wide open for all bugs and dust to get into. 5)Don't ask for lemons because you won't get any. You will use the packet of "lemon juice" on the table. Just run from this place. If you're looking for authentic food. This is not it.

Really good mexican food in an atmosphere that is down to earth. We were greeted quickly and seated at a booth. The chips and salsa arrived quickly and our drinks did too. Their salsa is really good, and the chips are nice and thin and have a great flavor. The waitress was very nice. It was hard to choose between the steak tamipico and the steak ranchero, so I got one and my wife got the other. My ranchero was really good, and the enchilada had a great chili gravy. I added a crispy taco to my steak ranchero and it was really good. The steak tampico looked really good, and my wife said that she loved it. Hers came with a taco and she also enjoyed it. The steaks are around $10 whcih is a great deal for how much food you get. Had a great time here.

    Thr BARBARIAN BURGER, it's amazing.

Food was great, we got the Mexican flag enchiladas. Service wasn't so attentive though and weird customer atmosphere.

Great food and great service. The Avenue Q is a favorite. The dishes with brisket are also very good. Highly recommend them.

Hidalgo's on Sherwood Way is the best for authentic Mexican food. Food tastes great! Beats Henry's all the way.

On Thursday's, Henry's has their Steak Specials running from 11 am until 5 pm, so Steak for lunch sounds like a winner for us. When we arrived, I wasn't really surprised that there are a lot of cars/trucks in the parking lot. Walked in, was greeted by the Hostess, and shown to a table in the Main Dining area. Right away, the Chips & Salsa Lady came by with their Red Salsa, Bean Dip topped with Gravy, and those Fresh Warm Chips for us to enjoy. Right after that, our Server, Monica, stopped by and took our drink order while we looked over the menu, mainly their Thursday Steak Specials. Those Chips and Salsa, which is on the Hot side, are delicious, but I tend to lean toward the Bean Dip topped with Gravy. That is some really good stuff. When Monica returned with our drinks, we placed our order. Joe is having the "KC Steak"; About 16 ounces of Hand Cut Sirloin, requested medium. Served with Baked Potato or French Fries, chose French Fries. Served with Frijoles Borracho's and a Salad. Nancy is having the same thing, but medium rare. I am going with the "Henry's New York Strip Steak"; About 14 ounces. Chose French Fries over the Baked Potato. Served with Frijoles Borracho's and a Salad. All Steaks are tenderized by the In-House-Butcher and seasoned accordingly. Traditional Kansas City-style Steaks are typically seasoned with a blend of Coarse Garlic Salt, Pepper, Coriander, and Chili Peppers. Henry's has other Steaks on their Thursday Specials; Besides the two kinds we ordered, they have "Spanish Steak"; About 14 ounces, with the same sides. The "Chicken Fried Steak"; Their CFS sits in a Cheese-Gravy and is one of the Best CFS's around. And they have the standard "Hamburger Steak"; topped with Brown Gravy & Onions. Right after Monica took our food order, she returned and with Fresh Warm Chips and more of the Red 'Hot' Salsa. That stuff warms you up from the inside out and is very tasty. We enjoyed those Chips and Dips, and then our Salads came out. I topped mine off with their Vinaigrette Dressing, my Wife chose Thousand Island, and I think Joe went with Ranch. Right after we finished the Delicious, Crisp and Flavorful Salads, our Steaks arrived. Henry's has always been pretty quick in serving their food, and the presentation is Spot-On. No matter what plate you order, it's always going to be a Beautiful Presentation. All three of our Steaks are glistening, and the aroma makes your tummy smile. We all three cut into our Steaks and they are Right-On, just the way they should be. I have had the KC Steak before, and it was Very Tastylicious, and that's what my Wife said about hers. Very Tender with lots of Flavor in every bite. Joe loved his also and ate all of it. My Wife didn't eat all of hers because, as she says, she isn't tall enough. I ate all of mine because I am tall enough. It was also Very Flavorful, Tenderlicious and just down-right great. Their Steaks cut very easy with a knife - it just falls through the Deliciousness with ease. Normally, a New York Strip Steak is seasoned by being patted dry, then liberally coated on all sides with kosher salt and black pepper. Some methods involve dry-brining for several hours, while others apply a simple mix of salt, pepper, and garlic powder just before cooking. Don't know if Henry's does theirs this way, but I do know that it's Awesomely Flavored. French Fries are pretty good, and I ate all of mine, but don't tell my Doctor. I'm not suppose to have this much Steak and Potatoes, and I've done this a couple times this week. So - Shhhhhhhhhhhh. No wonder their Frijoles Borracho's are Very Tasty. The Frijoles Borracho's (Drunken Beans) are a classic dish featuring Pinto Beans slow-simmered with Beer, Bacon, and aromatic Vegetables. Other key ingredients are Bacon rendered fat, Garlic, Jalapenos, Tomatoes, Cilantro, and dark Mexican Beer. All of that in a bowl for your enjoyment. And believe me, you will enjoy these. Monica earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm. She checked on us at just the right times and was very pleasant to talk to. She also described how the Steaks were seasoned, prepared, and that the KC Steak is her favorite. She is Awesome. When we left, Henry's was pretty busy, as expected. Maybe they all came for the Steaks. On the way home, we enjoyed another Beautiful San Angelo Afternoon.

The chicken…read morefried steak was always my go-to- the flavor is unmatched, meat is tender, and the gravy served with it is the best I've had. When I got older, I started getting the Rosita- 2 cheese enchiladas, 1 beef taco, rice and beans. The sauce on the enchiladas is my favorite. That's still what I order now. I no longer live in San Angelo, so I look forward to having Henry's when I'm visiting for holidays & rave about it to my friends. The Christmas lights inside during the holiday season are beautiful. Prices are good, chips and salsa are always on point. Service is- and always has been friendly and FAST. The food never takes more than 10 minutes to come out, and it's very hot and fresh. Out of probably hundreds of visits, I haven't disliked a single meal at Henry's.

I didn't know your town, I drove around looking for Mexican food that could compare to California, until I found this hidden gem. First and foremost the customer service is something I've never experienced in my 42 years of life. As soon as you walked through the door, Brian, greeted me and from that second made me feel like long lost family. Very welcoming. It was a Sunday morning and he asked where I was from, I explained from where and why I was in town. Brian genuinely listened and he offered his prayers. You don't get this kind of service anywhere in California. It's true,Texas, people are so much nicer and hospitality really is something to be admired. I went to pay and Brian stunned me, when he wouldn't take my money and told me that I had bigger things to worry about than paying for my breakfast. After listening to me vent and pray for me and wouldn't take my money. This man really is a good human being. I'm telling you, shocked doesn't explain the feeling at that moment. I watched him interact with other customers and he was the same way being personable. Now the food could have been terrible and I would have still gave a good review just on customer service LOL, but seriously the Menudo was amazing, the broth , patas , homney, tripe and all. I'm a white guy and I come from a Hispanic community in Cali, I know ethnic. This is legit. It is very hard to find really good Menudo, but San Angelo it's right here. Please give his restaurant your business.
