Had lunch here today and it was amazing. I ordered the taco salad with beef, that salad was huge! Try the taco salad you will love it. Service was great, our waitress never let us run out of tea.

OMG If you happen to find yourself in San Angelo, TX, then use the YELP app to find the #1 Happy Hour. No lie. This is amazing! Music, atmosphere, staff, food: ALL Excellent. Huge portion of chips and queso! Wonderful modern presentation of Chicken Fried Steak. Beautiful copper topped bar!

This place was amazing. Food and service were phenomenal. First time coming to this place and it didn't disappoint.. We got this blacken catfish, catfish taco and prickly pear cheesecake. They have their own hot sauce, and let me tell you there was a kick..

The Angry Cactus in San Angelo, TX was a fun, clean restaurant! It's a New American restaurant with cool features of cacti adorned everywhere, a special blue Phoenix tree by artist Scott Sustek in the middle of the indoor dining area (read the plaque - it's cool!), a huge full bar, large framed pop culture art, cool lights, and attractive paint colors throughout. Outdoor dining was available, but it was too hot for us. Even shortly after opening time at around 11AM. We were seated immediately. Served complimentary table bread with a dousing of olive oil and what I believe was Parmesan cheese in a small bowl. Service by Andrea L. and others was engaging and attentive on 5/24/2025. My girls & I celebrated the kickoff to our summer vacation with the following: 2 Lemonades = $6.98 1 Prickly Pear Margarita = $12.00 1 The Mushroom Swiss Burger = $16.00 1 8oz Wood Grilled Filet = $38.00 1 Blackened Catfish = $14.00 (Convenience Fee (3%) = $2.61) Both the filet and blackened catfish were juicy and tender. I would order either of those again. Of course, none of us left behind much leftovers. Note that the green beans that were served with both the filet & catfish were a bit spicy. Not for me, but my 10-year-old wasn't crazy about them. She would not have been anyway, though. Guess she better change that if she strives to be a top chef someday! The food is fresh. You can see the kitchen from the dining area and many of the preparations being made. I agree with my chef-to-be who re-read the sign near the hostess's area as we were leaving in that it should read: "BEST Texas Grill & Bar" not simply "West Texas..." Nearby street parking was free. I was passing through on a long drive and couldn't go further unless I had some food. I did a quick search on Yelp and pulled into downtown San Angelo and walked into the Angry Cactus. It was pretty quiet - with maybe 3 tables occupied but decided to sit at the bar anyway. I had no intention of drinking but when I saw the oversized Cactus tap topper I had to ask and the bartender mentioned it was for their house beer. The beer was decent-definitely something to write about but the tap topper was definitely more memorable. I started with the bacon wrapped quail and for the price I was surprised at how small it was-it was tasty but hard to judge the flavor in the 3 bites it took me to finish. The bartender recommended the meatloaf and it was definitely hefty-the sauce on it was a little too sweet for me but was still enjoyable. Overall, it was a memorable stop with enough kitschy ambiance and art to make a good date place.

I love Angry Cactus, and it is definitely my go-to restaurant when I want to impress someone from out of town. The food is amazing every time. The only thing that can be frustrating is that the service sometimes isn't good, but it might be simply because i'm 17 and they think I won't tip. Other than that, it is an awesome place with great food that I really enjoy.

We were in town for business at Goodfellow AFB and decided to try this place based on the reviews. OK, at first the HUGE facade is a bit off-putting... but inside the vibe is excellent and the food and service are wonderful. I had the Cajun Chicken & Pasta and it was outstanding. Highly recommended!

Our second time here and we split an excellent prime rib with the best au jus I've ever had. A bit thicker and faintly sweet than the usual. The perfect rareness without bleeding in the plate. Compliments to the chef.

Suuuper cute inside! Fun water feature and tree. Food was delicious but the staff did not know what gluten was despite the menu saying gluten friendly options Still VERY accommodating! My server was very friendly and went back and forth as many times as needed to clarify and make sure I ended up with something I am able to eat. Overall a great experience, just know they may not fully understand when you need gluten, dairy, or other dietary accommodations.

Food was delicious. Had " not your grandma's meatloaf" and "Bacon wrapped pork tenderloins"! Queso appetizer and sweet tea. Our server kept our tea full and cleared the plates as we finished. We loved every bite and sip. The pork tenderloins were so tender and the meat loaf was a flavor explosion ! Wish we could come every day.

We arrived for an early brunch. The wait time for the food was not long and the food was delicious!! The waitress was friendly and kept checking up on us. The dining area was very nice, quiet even though the place had quite a few customers. Enjoyed the decor throughout the restaurant. I would highly recommend this place.

This restaurant is in downtown and is a great option for some good food and big portions! I had the loaded Mac & cheese which had bacon and was sooo flavorful. I loved every single bite, it doesn't look big in the picture but I got 2 meals out of it. The waitress was kind and the ambiance was cool with good music playing. I look forward to coming back to try other dishes!

I know you know yesterday was Valentine's Day, and it's a good day to take your "Better Half" (and…read moreyou know that's true) out for Dinner at one of her favorite places. "The Grill". That also sounds really good to me. We know The Grill will be busy, especially since Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday, so we left earlier than normal. Arrived, and a good number of cars were parked all around. Walked in, and the place is packed, with every bar stool and table taken. The Hostess said it will only be a few minutes for your table. In a couple of minutes, a table was available. After we were seated, more people arrived, but they also only had to wait a couple of minutes. The Grill has two bartenders working along with several servers, and a couple of employees cleaning up the tables when they become available. Our Server is Sophia, and she took our drink order. Two Jack-N-Cokes and waters. While we waited for our drinks, we looked over the menu. We kind of already know what we are going to order, and we did. My Wife is going with one of her usuals, their "Happy Hour Nachos" ($6.50), listed as 'Roasted Pork Nachos' on the main menu. Slow Roasted Pork, Chipotle Sauce, Tomatoes, Cilantro, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese over lots of Fresh Chips with Green sliced Jalapenos on one side, and Red sliced Jalapenos throughout the plate. I am going with the "Baja Fish Tacos", Blackened Baja Fish with Chipotle Sauce, and pickled Slaw. Served with Guacamole, Rice, Black Beans, and double Corn Tortillas for three Tacos. We placed our order with Sophia when she served our drinks. Then we toasted to Valentine's Day, and us. The bartenders here make the Best Jack-N-Cokes around. They are really good, smoooooooth, and go down easy. While we waited for our food, The Grill became busier and busier, with more people waiting. Glad we came a little early. Sophia stopped by, as well as one of the Managers checking on us to see if we needed anything. Service here is always tops. Soon our food arrived, and my Wife's Roasted Pork Nachos were served the same as they always have been, piled up high and covering the entire plate, and I might add, very colorful. I Love the way they prepare the Baja Fish Tacos with a Huge chunk of perfectly grilled fish all by itself next to the Rice & Black Beans, a large scoop of Fresh Guacamole, and several Corn Tortillas for you to make your own, with Pickled Slaw to the side. Both dishes are a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness that you will find nowhere else. The Grill does it right. My Wife's Nachos have a lot of melted cheese oozing everywhere with lots of corn chips and several pounds of Roasted Pulled Pork. Well, okay, maybe not 'pounds', but there are a lot of large chunks throughout this dish. She said it is delicious and loving that Pulled Pork. She ate about half of it and will take the rest home for a meal that will be for both of us - you get a lot of food at The Grill. I cut off a long chunk of fish, spread their Chipotle Sauce on a couple of corn tortillas, then the fish, topping it off with rice & black beans, guacamole, and their pickled slaw. This Fish Taco is Deliciousness and more. The perfectly grilled Baja Fish has lots of flavor with just enough spice from the chipotle sauce. I made three of these, each a little different, and they all were very Tastylicious. Each Taco was so filled with goodies I could not fold it over, and I ate them more like a Tostada instead. Either way, they are The Best. I also have some fish left over that I ate with the remaining sides, adding that chipotle sauce to each bite. I ate all of mine, with no leftovers to take home. While we were enjoying our food, Sophia said that she would like to take a picture of us with my camera because we are a cute couple. Hey, I couldn't disagree with that, so she did. Flattery will get you everywhere. Thank You Sophia. Well, guess what? Sophia earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm, and a nice tip. We boxed up my Wife's leftovers and headed home, and The Grill was still busy as ever when we left. This was a Great way to enjoy a Valentine's Day Dinner.

This a really neat place mostly due to the amazing views you have out the side window of the dining…read moreroom the buffet is served in. Clear view of the concho river as you eat your Sunday brunch is a pretty nice deal. The buffet is really good with made to order texas shapped waffles or mini waffles at your pick. Toppings abound as well. You can also get made to order omelets with all the fixings. They have prime rib as well but on our visit they ran out early but no fear... chef Carlos brought out a tray of grilled sirloin steaks for the final hour of the brunch service! How cool is that!? They also have a salad bar and fruit bar with several toppings and 1 soup. savory chicken veg w/rice was the option we had on our visit and it was super good! They have hot food bins to get your food from via self serve utencils. You have the follow to pick from: cornmeal baked catfish, cornmeal baked chicken, wild rice, seasoned diced fried potatoes, mac n' cheese, fresh hot made biscuits, sausage patties, bacon, green beans w/bacon, baked corn mini corn on the cob. No scrambled eggs or eggs of any kind for self serve and no pancakes or french toast in case your curious on those. Dessert table has apple and peach cobbler, vanilla ice cream, and several kind of pie slices. Chef Carlos was out and about talking to the patrons and even caught up with me for a picture as I so often like to get on first time visits to places I like. He is a class act guy and puts on one awesome Sunday brunch buffet from 11-2pm. I cant wait to come back for the lunch buffet they do from 11-2pm every day accept Monday and Saturday.
