My son and his gf came to town and we came to have brunch. The food was delicious. Kelsey was our server and she took great care of us. We will definitely come back again!

The Angry Cactus in San Angelo, TX was a fun, clean restaurant! It's a New American restaurant with cool features of cacti adorned everywhere, a special blue Phoenix tree by artist Scott Sustek in the middle of the indoor dining area (read the plaque - it's cool!), a huge full bar, large framed pop culture art, cool lights, and attractive paint colors throughout. Outdoor dining was available, but it was too hot for us. Even shortly after opening time at around 11AM. We were seated immediately. Served complimentary table bread with a dousing of olive oil and what I believe was Parmesan cheese in a small bowl. Service by Andrea L. and others was engaging and attentive on 5/24/2025. My girls & I celebrated the kickoff to our summer vacation with the following: 2 Lemonades = $6.98 1 Prickly Pear Margarita = $12.00 1 The Mushroom Swiss Burger = $16.00 1 8oz Wood Grilled Filet = $38.00 1 Blackened Catfish = $14.00 (Convenience Fee (3%) = $2.61) Both the filet and blackened catfish were juicy and tender. I would order either of those again. Of course, none of us left behind much leftovers. Note that the green beans that were served with both the filet & catfish were a bit spicy. Not for me, but my 10-year-old wasn't crazy about them. She would not have been anyway, though. Guess she better change that if she strives to be a top chef someday! The food is fresh. You can see the kitchen from the dining area and many of the preparations being made. I agree with my chef-to-be who re-read the sign near the hostess's area as we were leaving in that it should read: "BEST Texas Grill & Bar" not simply "West Texas..." Nearby street parking was free. As you all can see from the picture, the food was delicious. It's nearly gone. Service was fast and the ambience was perfect. It was a Sunday afternoon.

Food was delicious. Had " not your grandma's meatloaf" and "Bacon wrapped pork tenderloins"! Queso appetizer and sweet tea. Our server kept our tea full and cleared the plates as we finished. We loved every bite and sip. The pork tenderloins were so tender and the meat loaf was a flavor explosion ! Wish we could come every day.

I was passing through on a long drive and couldn't go further unless I had some food. I did a quick search on Yelp and pulled into downtown San Angelo and walked into the Angry Cactus. It was pretty quiet - with maybe 3 tables occupied but decided to sit at the bar anyway. I had no intention of drinking but when I saw the oversized Cactus tap topper I had to ask and the bartender mentioned it was for their house beer. The beer was decent-definitely something to write about but the tap topper was definitely more memorable. I started with the bacon wrapped quail and for the price I was surprised at how small it was-it was tasty but hard to judge the flavor in the 3 bites it took me to finish. The bartender recommended the meatloaf and it was definitely hefty-the sauce on it was a little too sweet for me but was still enjoyable. Overall, it was a memorable stop with enough kitschy ambiance and art to make a good date place.

This place was amazing. Food and service were phenomenal. First time coming to this place and it didn't disappoint.. We got this blacken catfish, catfish taco and prickly pear cheesecake. They have their own hot sauce, and let me tell you there was a kick..

We were in town for business at Goodfellow AFB and decided to try this place based on the reviews. OK, at first the HUGE facade is a bit off-putting... but inside the vibe is excellent and the food and service are wonderful. I had the Cajun Chicken & Pasta and it was outstanding. Highly recommended!

Our second time here and we split an excellent prime rib with the best au jus I've ever had. A bit thicker and faintly sweet than the usual. The perfect rareness without bleeding in the plate. Compliments to the chef.

Yes we do! We have a patio with 2 party tables and great air conditioning that I'm sure will fit parties big and small.

Yesterday was my Wife's Birthday, and we went out to Celebrate…read more Joe, Nancy's son, came over for the celebrations. We all left for "The GRILL" and when we entered, the place was packed, but they did have a table available, and it was near the Kitchen. At most restaurants, you don't want to be near the Kitchen, but at The GRILL, it's a great place to sit because you are closer to all that Aroma that fills the air all over the entire restaurant, and you get to watch them grill those Steaks. Haylee came over to our table to say "Hello". She is one of the Bartenders here at this time, and informed us that our Server is Katie, who will be with us shortly. We informed her that it's Nancy's "80th" Birthday, and Haylee wished her a Happy Birthday. We also ordered our drinks, Jack-N-Cokes for Nancy and me; Joe is having a Miller Lite. Katie came over shortly, and we informed her that Haylee took our drink order. Soon our drinks arrived, and we toasted to the Birthday Girl. Happy Birthday Nancy. We then looked over the menu some more, trying to decide what we wanted. This is a hard decision because everything they prepare here is delicious, and one of the Best Presentations of Tastyliciousness in town. When Katie returned, we placed our orders. The Birthday Girl is going with, and there is no surprise here, their "Slow Roasted Pork Nachos"; Chipotle Sauce, diced Tomatoes, Cilantro, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese over Fresh Chips with sliced Green Jalapenos on the side, all covering a load of Fresh, Crunchy Chips. Joe is having their "Baby Back Ribs", "Fall-Off-The-Bone-Ribs" with house-made BBQ Sauce, served with Creamy Coleslaw & Shoestring Potatoes. He also ordered a side Salad with House Dressing. I am going with one of my favorites - everywhere - a Burger. Not just any burger, but their "Texas Burger": Half Pound of Seasoned Fresh Ground Chuck, Shredded Cheddar Cheese, Canadian Bacon, Onions, jalapeños, and mustard with Mesquite Sauce. Served with Shoestring Potatoes (choice). Orders are in, and we ordered another round of drinks for us. The GRILL has the best Bartenders in the area, and their drinks go down smooooooth. Our drinks arrived just before the food did, and it's hard to decide what to enjoy next. Okay, it was kind of easy. When you are presented with a drink, you take a sip just to let the drink know you appreciate it being a good drink. The GRILL does an amazing job with their Presentation of food. Joe's Baby Back Ribs are glistening on his platter (yes, a platter, not a plate), waiting for him to indulge. They didn't have to wait very long, because he did just that. Those Ribs have a lot of bones across the platter, and he started at one end and went to the other end. He said it was delicious, or something like that, because when one drools, it's hard to come up with the words. Their Shoestring Potatoes are always good, and the Creamy Coleslaw has a nice crunch to it, along with tasty flavoring. My Wife, as always, enjoyed those Slow Roasted Pork Nachos. There is a lot of pulled pork in there, along with a lot of everything else. The Jalapeños are on the side, so you can add as much heat to each bite as you want. This dish is not only Tastylicious, but a very Colorful one at that. It's like Christmas in August. Nancy ate more of this than she normally does. I took a bite, and it is really good, and what a deal. Joe finished off the rest, and the plate is clean. I have had this Texas Burger a few times before, and it's a hard one to pass up each time we are here. This must be a full Half-Pound patty, because it's Thick & Big. Love the strong taste and the amount of Cheddar Cheese Strips on this Burger; it's not too much, but it's also not a little amount. The Jalapeños are also just the right amount of heat to complement every bite. The Canadian Bacon on a Texas Burger does not sound right, but it is the right touch. The flavor goes perfectly with the entire Burger. For me, this entire Texas Burger is the Best Burger in the area, and I have had many a burger all over. Love those Shoestring Potatoes. They have a nice Crunch all the way around and are salted Just-Right. I usually do not salt anything per Doctor's orders, but these I make an exception for. The Texas Burger does it for me every time I order it. Every one of us joined the Clean Plate Club for the night, and we all get a Gold Star. Haylee and Katie earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm. Haylee made our drinks for the night, and Katie checked on us throughout our stay at just the right time. Service at The GRILL has always been tops, and it was that again.

They scheduled a restaraunt full of reservations all at the same time instead of staggering them a few minutes apart each so that they could keep up with the guests orders. Our drinks took 20-30 minutes to reach the table. I will say the bartender was working hard to keep up, but he definitely needed some help. The salad came out and was good. However, when I ordered my $68 filet, I specifically asked the waiter what it came with. He told me potatoes, and I said, "Perfect." When my steak arrived, there was rice on my plate instead. If someone had simply come back to the table and told me that potatoes were not an option that night, I would have gladly chosen a different dish. It really comes down to basic communication. Our waiter was also the only server covering our side of the restaurant, and it was obvious that he needed help as well. I don't necessarily blame him for everything because he was clearly overwhelmed. What really made the experience worse was the gentleman who came out after we expressed that we didn't like the food. His attitude was essentially "too bad", and he was extremely rude and dismissive. That kind of response to a customer is unacceptable. Unfortunately, the service issues, lack of communication, food disappointment, and especially the rude attitude at the end completely ruined the experience. Save your money and go somewhere else.

They have prime rib as well but on our visit they ran out early but no fear... chef Carlos brought out a tray of grilled sirloin steaks for the final hour of the brunch service! How cool is that!? They also have a salad bar and fruit bar with several toppings and 1 soup. savory chicken veg w/rice was the option we had on our visit and it was super good! They have hot food bins to get your food from via self serve utencils. You have the follow to pick from: cornmeal baked catfish, cornmeal baked chicken, wild rice, seasoned diced fried potatoes, mac n' cheese, fresh hot made biscuits, sausage patties, bacon, green beans w/bacon, baked corn mini corn on the cob. No scrambled eggs or eggs of any kind for self serve and no pancakes or french toast in case your curious on those. Dessert table has apple and peach cobbler, vanilla ice cream, and several kind of pie slices. Chef Carlos was out and about talking to the patrons and even caught up with me for a picture as I so often like to get on first time visits to places I like. He is a class act guy and puts on one awesome Sunday brunch buffet from 11-2pm. I cant wait to come back for the lunch buffet they do from 11-2pm every day accept Monday and Saturday.
