The new restaurant here is fantastic. Large open dining space with great lighting and modern decor. Smaller menu but everything on it is well done with carefully Chef inspired creativity. Chef Estrada is a class-act guy putting up spectacular dishes. My wife and I enjoy this place for dining out. The steak entree and the garlic chicken are sure bets. The balsamic glazed brussel sprouts are to die for. The rice pilaf side is done perfectly as well and it's a favorite side dish of mine as well. The beer-braised veggies are quite tasty as well. Love the build your own pasta option and the nachos. We come here regularly and always get great service from the staff. The atmosphere is top notch and the outside patio seating is great too. The prickly pear margarita was so sweet, my boyfriend couldn't even get it down. The spicy señorita was a bit better, but still too sweet for my taste. He had the spicy chicken alfredo- the chicken was dry and rubbery, the sauce was watery and bland. I had the chicken fried steak (because they were OUT of the pork loin ). Good food great staff, in staying here at the clarion for work and decided to try out the black sheep cafe which is part of the hotel. I had the black sheep burger with the hand cut fries.... DELISH! HUGE potion too, and the smoked ketchup (bbq sauce ketchup) was a nice touch to go with the fries. Burger was ginormous, about an inch thick and spans 5 inches in diameter. Staff is very friendly and doesn't constantly check on you which I find annoying. They even asked if I wanted a bottle water to take with me. Tired and hungry, this is the restaurant in the hotel. I was a little concerned about some of the reviews complaining about the noise level, but, I braved it anyway. Friday night, 6 p.m. dinner and there were 2 other patrons. Nice, relaxed and quiet. I ordered the brisket quesadilla and a side if French fries. The quesadilla was bland and greasy, yet, oddly satisfying. There was a subtle hint of smokiness. It was served with lime- cilantro rice which was neither limey nor cilantro-y which is good, because I am one if those people who taste soap when eating cilantro. The black beans had a touch of heat from the Pico de Gallo garnish. The French fries stole the show! I ordered them unsalted and they were superb! Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and great flavor. I wonder if they were double fried the way the experts say to make them... What drew my attention initially was how nice and quiet the interior was, and how I could just sit back and do homework or read with a beer. It is a new restaurant in town and usually you'd see kinks that needed to be worked out in following months but we got our food within 10 minutes. Servers were all extremely nice. Place is modern and beautifully decorated. CLEAN as well. For lunch I had the chicken sandwich and dinner was brisket nachos. BEST NACHOS EVER. Huge portions. My boyfriend ordered the HUUUUUGE burger and he liked it. Chef Stan Mcdonald literally went to every table and made sure food was good which was really nice to see. The amount served was enough for two people. The burger was great! Meat is good, bun is good, homemade chips are good! Dessert consisted of ice cream enchiladas (ice cream wrapped in crepes on top of raspberry sauce. & it was really good & enough for 3 people. Peach cobbler was divine! We've been twice in last two weeks. One visit with my wife for lunch, just getting out of the house for a meal. Several menu items were not available which was disappointing, and the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes & mushrooms had to be sent back because the taters & shrooms (under the chicken which was hot) were cold. Then went for my mother's 89th birthday this week and the lamb chops were bloody red when cut open and had to be returned for more cooking. Pork loin should have been tender, but was not. Steak salad, nachos and hamburger (with no bun) were good. But I have to wonder about having to send plates back twice on consecutive visits, because we hate to do that and it disrupts the meal. The service, (seat yourself-how many upscale restaurants do you know where you seat yourself?), sat there after seating ourselves for 10 minutes without being waited on- appetizer was terrible, old tasting brisket on some bread with bottled barbecue sauce squirted on it, husband's steak was 80% fat, the potatoes had zero taste, my pork tenderloin was anything but tender! The black sheep is located at the clarion hotel on the river. The food is good, but can get on the pricey side for what it is (burgers, steaks, etc). The drinks are creative and fun though. I especially like the infused liquors they have. Try the habanero tequila! ;) read more

The best burger in town by far. No one even comes close. They have added a buffalo burger that I will try soon. Clean and comfortable. Atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. They also serve a breakfast buffet in the morning for hotel guests but you can go even if youvare not a guest and pay out of pocket. Fantastisc desserts. I do not drink but I have heard so many people say that the prickly pear margarita is out of this world. My husband and I had dinner the other night. It was really good! I had the chicken alfredo, he had a fish filet with fries and beans. And we had an appetizer of fried alligator. This morning I was at a luncheon for my cousin's wedding and as we were setting up I mentioned that I hadn't had breakfast, they gave me some cereal from that morning and were very patient with the fact that we rearranged the tables 4 times. This is my second visit to this establishment. We were highly impressed with the food and service at my first visit, so I made the decision to celebrate my birthday there with 11 girl friends. We have done this at various in town restaurants for 20 years and have never been treated so rudely as we were at the Blacksheep. We always bring a cake for the birthday girl... Never a problem at Outback, The Grill, ANYWHERE! So last night... Being almost the only party there, we brought in a cake and was accosted by the manager soon after being seated. He came to the table and loudly and angrily asked "who brought this in here"? And started lecturing us about it. Nothing short of being EXTREMELY RUDE.. We said something to the chef and waitress.. They were nothing more than very kind. A member of our group spoke to him after we were done, to explain that the cake was not the issue, but the way he handled it was totally inappropriate . A small town like this, you can't make it when they treat 11 women this way.. We talk too much! The food is unique and very good.. Just sad that we will reconsider not going here again because of a manager with no social skills. read more
