Several days back, I received an email from Texas Roadhouse celebrating their 20th Anniversary. In our book, that's 240 Month-i-versaires, and that's a mighty long time. The email stated that all you have to do is go to Texas Roadhouse and pick up a sealed envelope, keep it unopened, and then bring it back between the dates of June 22 and 26th. The Manager will then open the envelope, revealing the prize you will receive. The Main Prizes are a 65" TV, a BBQ Grill, a James Avery Gift Card, or Free Steak for a Year. There are various other prizes also. Well, we did just that. We picked up our envelope and kept it in a jar of mayonnaise on Funk & Wagnalls porch (just like Carnac the Magnificent did) for safekeeping. On Tuesday, the day arrived, and we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. We checked in with the Hostess, and it was easy to find our booth. We just followed the aroma coming from the Basket of Fresh Hot Rolls they provide with their Honey Cinnamon Butter. First thing we did was grab one of those Delicious Rolls, added lots of that Honey Cinnamon butter, and began one of life's greatest pleasures. These Rolls are Awesomelyliciousnes. Our Server, Keleigh, came over and took our drink order. We both are having their Daily Special, Long Island Iced Teas (for only 5-bucks ea). We looked over the menu while our drinks were being made. Soon, Keleigh brought over our drinks, and we placed our order. My Wife and I both are going with their "Road Kill": 10 oz Chopped Steak, Seasoned with their Signature Steak Seasoning, smothered with Yellow Onions & Bella Mushrooms sauteed in Butter, topped with melted Jack Cheese. Served with two sides. We both went with the "House Salad": Fresh Greens, Cheddar Cheese, Tomatoes & Crumbled Egg with Croutons. Also, Ranch Dressing. She went with the "Seasoned Rice"; Rich, Buttery, and Savory prepared using Long Grain White Rice, Chicken & Beef Broth, Soy Sauce, Yellow Onion, Smoked Paprika, and Garlic Powder with Black Pepper. I am having the "Texas Red Chili": Made from scratch, Ground-up Steak Trimmings & Rich Tomato & Beef Broth Base, heavily seasoned with Chili Powder & Cumin. Topped with Shredded Cheddar Cheese and chopped White Onion. While we waited for our food, we enjoyed those Long Island Iced Teas. Texas Roadhouse makes the Best LITs around. Lots of flavor from all the liquor blended in this masterpiece by their Bartenders. We also ate the basket of Rolls, which were served Fresh, Hot, and Meltylicious. Soon, the House Salads arrived, and no one in town makes them like TRH does. They are not only a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness, but are served Fresh, Cold and Crisp. They don't skimp on size either; it covers the entire plate. We enjoyed our salads, and soon after, my Cup of Texas Red Chili arrived. I Love Red Chili, and get this almost every time we come here - it's that good. Not only is it flavorful, but also Very Warm with just the right amount of Chili Heat for me. One of these times, I am going to order a Bowl of this Texas Red Chili. It should go perfectly with their Fresh Hot Rolls. But that's next time, maybe, or the time after that. They have so much to choose from, it's hard to decide what enjoyment you want. Shortly after my Chili was devoured, they brought out our "Road Kill". This is the first time my Lovely Wife has ordered the Road Kill, and it's probably the upteenth time for me. It is also the Best Road Kill I have ever had, anywhere. It's known as Chopped Steak at other restaurants, but TRH names it properly. It makes me wonder what road they use. Both are a thing of Beauty, and they are not skimping on size. The toppings are also plentiful and look delicious. Mine is Med-Rare, while Nancy's ordered Medium. Her first bite said it all, because she took a second bite before she said anything. This is some Good Road Kill. I love how they season this chopped steak, it's amazinglylicious with every bite, juicy and full of flavor. The Sauteed Mushrooms & Onions only add more flavor to this Perfectly Seasoned Road Kill. I finished all of mine and am completely stuffed to the gills. Nancy ate half of hers and took it home with the Seasoned Rice for Lunch on Wednesday. Keleigh was a delight to talk to, checked on us at just the right time. She is not only a Top Server, but Very Beautiful. She also earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm. And she bartends here at times, and we look forward to seeing her again. Keleigh also noticed that I'm a Veteran and gave us 10% off our meal. The Manager stopped by our booth to see how we are doing, and also opened up our envelope to see what gift was in store for us. (I did wipe all the mayo off) We didn't win the 65" TV, or any of the other Big Prizes, but we did win a "Sidekick of Shrimp or Ribs", which is great for us because both of these are some really good stuff. We come here a lot and look forward to enjoying our next choices. read more

Waited 25 minutes to be seated. Took another 20 before drinks arrived. Ordered prime rib medium-rare then a few minutes later were told only medium-well was left. So, we ordered porterhouses medium-rare. AN HOUR LATER, the steaks arrived. One was medium rare and one was medium-well. The server said he would ask the manager to do something about the price. Her offer was to recook the steak. We declined due to the already terrible wait time. When the check arrived we were charged full price for the overcooked steak. I love Texas Roadhouse. Great relaxing place. The service is always so wonderful! Our server today, Jose, was awesome! We were greeted and drink order taken. Great personality! You can tell he enjoys what he is doing. Came by several times, checking on us, filling our teas. Had my husband cut into his steak ., hubby wanted it on the grill just a little long. Ta Da taken care of and the grill guy brought it back out. The whole experience from walking in the door to walking out the door was great. It was pretty busy yesterday but they managed to get myself and a friend in with less than a 5 minute wait time. Furthermore, the customer service was great as they came pretty often to the table to make sure everything was going well. The bread was great as always. The main course (sirloin) itself was delicious and wasn't dry at all. The price was pretty decent. Definitely coming here again despite the wait time between ordering and the food arriving at the table. Texas Road House is known for having a great steak for a great price! Aside from that, fresh beer and excellent service. I came to this one for that reasons. I wanted a quick-good steak, fresh draft beer, and good service. The ambiance is mostly the same through most of this chains. So you can expect about the same. This one had two amazing surprises for me. One: My Waiter was a special needs waiter. He was mute. To tell you how happy I was to see that Texas RoadHouse hires and gives a chance to EVERYONE, gives me hope for humanity. Our waiter was excellent. Though he could not verbally communicate with us WE HAD NO ISSUE expressing our order and he had no issue comprehending us. I loved it! I was so happy to see that Texas Roadhouse gives ALL a chance. Just for this reason alone they (and this particular location) deserve 5-Stars. Two: Aside from that, I also had a chance to witness something wonderful. A family, adjacent to our table, was celebrating the adoption of a young boy. The restaurant's manager came over their table and brought a horse saddle and had the boy seat on it and wave a rolled up cloth napkins around and around. They presented the boy to the restaurant and people cheered. It was that boy's celebration for being adopted by a loving and wonderful family. Everyone should have the opportunity to belong to a loving family and this boy just got his chance. Amazing! I'm glad I had a chance to witness this. Regarding the rest of the visit: 1) This one location was extremely busy, as are most. We were sat waiting 15-20min. 2) Food was excellent. My steak came out perfect. 3) Service was excellent. Still holds my top spot for chain based steak house in the USA. This was my 10th store visit in the world and 9th in the USA. Always consistent no matter where I find a TXRH which I love about the franchise. Never had a bad meal at any site in any state. Menu here similar to most others, also a plus, no surprises or missing items. Love the western, Texas vibe this, and all stores have going on as well. Little escape from wherever to TX, even in this case, when you're actually in TX! A first for me! The double chop dinner with plain sweet tater and veggies or the 16 oz sirloin with the same side items has been my go-to order for take out, pick up orders here so far. On the money, spot on each time so far. Always ready to go the second I walk in, no waiting. The app makes online orders a snap as well. One of my favs has disappointed me again. We went Saturday night for my birthday. Now, we knew it would be packed (it was) but only waited 20 minutes for a seat. We were watching the Bills lose a playoff game again, and realized we had been sitting there for about 15 minutes..no waiter, no drinks, nada. When he finally came over, he was very friendly, took our drink & app order. 10 mins later, got our drinks and took our order. 15 more minutes, appetizer & my salad come out. Asked for tea refill & plates for appetizer. Oh and more rolls. Never got those! 20 minutes later here comes our food. (We have not see our waiter since he took our order). Asked the food runner for rolls, and tea. Never saw her again. Cut into our filet and it's gray! So over cooked. We ordered medium. It was like cutting leather. Finally, here comes our waiter. My husband was so pissed he handed him the entire plate and insisted he take it off. I did as well. My daughter ordered rare. Hers was raw! It was still cold. But she ate it. Manager comes over, asks if we want new steaks (hell no) and asks what he can do. Hubby said to remove all that from our bill and maybe everything else for free (cheese fries, 1steak and drinks). My grandparents live here in San Angelo, so I've been to this Roadhouse plenty of times. First of all, the food. I haven't had many different things here, but what I have had is pretty good. I've gotten the kids Mac and cheese and the steak, too. The Mac and cheese is really good. It's not regular box Mac and cheese like Chili's, I don't know how to describe it, but it's just really good. The steak is good, too. Nothing special, just regular ol' steak. The one bad experience I've had with the food here is when I ordered chicken tenders, it tasted like pickles. Like, it was as if there was pickle juice on it from something else. Other than that, the food is fine. The service is really good, too. The waiters are good with checking on you every so often, and they're also good with refilling your drinks really often. It's usually pretty busy during the lunch rush and at dinner, so I recommend going in between those busy periods. Since it's usually pretty busy, it's pretty loud, so expect to be speaking up and/or yelling to others while here most of the time. Anyways, that's all I have to say. Nothing super special. They are pretty consistent. Only once have the ribs not meet their normal standard. I cannot tell how they would have handled it because my son did not complain until we had left the restaurant. Went a couple weeks ago and ordered a 16 oz ribeyes which was $27. I didn't pick the steak when I was seated a big mistake. Texas Roadhouse has really taking a downturn this year it seems. My last 2 stops, here & Abilene prior, were not good. I know the economy is tough but the food is no where near where it used to be. First time ever at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant. My friends had been saying how great the rolls were so I was really excited to give it a try. The rolls just tasted like warm Hawaiian rolls. Nothing too special. I ordered the salmon with a grilled shrimp kicker. Before ordering my sides, I asked the waitress of the green beans were from a can and she explained everything is fresh and taken out and made the day of. So I expected to have fresh green beans. My second side was fresh veggies. The salmon was covered in herbs, spices and a ton of butter. It was to be my lean protein so I'm sure I took on a lot of calories and saturated fat from the butter. I got 3/4 into my salmon fillet before I hit very undercooked mushy fish. The grilled shrimp was soooo salty! It had a Thick coating of herbs and spices but there is such a thing called less is more. I tried to scrape off the seasoning and dip it in lemon juice. The green beans were most certainly from a can. I have been to a ton of restaurants that serve fresh green beans and none of those places ever resembled mess hall green beans like this place did. They tasted horrible. I took two bites and took the bowl off my plate. The baby carrots and broccoli were good though. Still had some crunch even though they were steamed. My friend got the skinny lime margarita and I tried some and that was the best! So crisp, citrusy and refreshing! I should have gotten one but I had already ordered an Angry Orchard. If I come back, I am definitely going to stay away from my west coast roots because the seafood was not the best. Will definitely have to try the ribs or steak. read more

I was up for a steak and came to Texas Roadhouse for a good portion of steak. I had the grilled shrimp and ribeye. The ribeye came out about a quarter inch thick. When I cut it open, it was well done instead of medium rare as I ordered it. So the server took it back and came back with one that's about 1/2" thick and it was cooked to my order. The green bean tasted decent because it wasn't cooked to death. read more
