This place is a total vibe. I couldn't believe all of the performers they've had come through. I can only imagine how exciting this place gets during a show. And the food?! Super duper good. A must try if you're in the area. Turns out this is the last Cooper family owned bbq joint and the others are franchises now. Come support them!! read more

Spending over $1,000 on a VIP table should come with a baseline level of comfort and service, neither of which were delivered. No heaters in cold weather is not an oversight, it's a complete failure in planning and a clear disregard for paying customers. What made it worse was the resistance we received over something as simple as an extra blanket, even when we were willing to get it ourselves from the car. That level of friction over basic comfort is unacceptable and frankly insulting at this price point. Experiences like this don't just disappoint, they drive customers away. People paying premium prices expect premium treatment, and when that expectation is missed this badly, it directly impacts repeat business, reputation, and ultimately revenue. If management doesn't start investing in customer comfort and proactive planning--especially for predictable issues like weather--this place will continue to lose high-paying clients. Right now, it feels like profit is prioritized over people, and that's a losing strategy. read more

Friendly faces and welcoming atmosphere. My first time stopping by Coopers BAR-B-Q and the staff and cooks were so welcoming! They helped me decide on what meats I should try and even offered different desserts. Definitely recommend stopping by read more

Girls definitely don't go alone. I've been there with men and without, and the time I went with a good friend, we watched girls get assaulted. I had a guy try to put his hands on me, kiss me--really disgusting and gross. I went again after that for another concert; I already had tickets. I went with a guy that time, and I had no issues or problems at all, so it definitely depends on who you go with and who you're around for your safety because security does not do anything after the concert. A bunch of girls got assaulted by guys, and they were complaining about how they'd get in trouble for what happened. I think it's extremely inappropriate that security's job is to protect us, and they're complaining that they have to do their job. read more

We came here for lunch on a Friday on the way home from a roadtrip. The restaurant is on the side of a highway with a lot of roadside dirt parking. It is normal bbq counter style ordering. I believe it was the owner and his wife that took care of our order. They were wonderful. We split a two meat plate with brisket, sausage, beans, and coleslaw. We also got pickles and onion. The food was absolutely amazing. The brisket was the best brisket either of us have ever had. read more

$10 for a bread sandwich with a carefully measured out ice cream scoop of chopped brisket (sandwich couldn't cost them more than about 85 cents to make). $2 for a bag of lays chips they bought for 10 cents. Half full sides of beans or potato salad for $3. Clearly just interested in making money. Opening the gate at 6:00 PM with no re-entry encourages you to eat there on site. Makes sense. Definitely wouldn't do it again tho. Food was average at best. My advice would be to eat first before coming for a concert. Pretty disappointing that they take advantage of their customers this bad. Side Note: Get rid of the ga-ga pit, or put it somewhere away from everyone. Kids kicking up dirt so dust flies everywhere and all over everyone, in 100+ degree weather isn't very pleasant. Simple things to make it a so much better experience for your customers...who paid to watch a concert...not play ga-ga ball. UPDATE: I can video and take pics of the food next time. It literally looked like the buns were sitting on top of each other there was so little meat in between them. You can take offense to the review, or you can view it as feedback from your customers and use it to be even better. The way you responded so negatively so soon, I'm pretty sure you don't value your customers feedback unless it's all positive. I had no complaints about the concert, except the Gaga ball dust flying and the cornhole pits blocking the view of the stage. Other than that, we loved it and plan to come back...just won't eat there again. Felt like we paid $52 for $15 worth of food. read more

Had a 2 meat plate with brisket, jalapeño and cheese sausage, potato salad, and pinto beans. Just can't beat West Texas BBQ! As always we were greeted with a smile and "how y'all doing today"! Their service is always premium. Just gotta love the old barn house atmosphere with pictures of everyone who's played there. read more

Cooper's Bar-B-Q - 2 meat combo plate - Barbeque Near Me - Christoval, Texas

I was disappointed as I have eaten at the Coopers in Llano. Now it was late on a Monday night, maybe that's the problem. My ribs were extremely tender but I'm guessing they were cooked in a pressure cooker and not on a grill. My wife's sliced brisket was also missing a good pit bbq taste. read more

I ordered ribs and they were delicious, so full of flavor, juicy and tender. The beans and potatoes salad were delicious too. I highly recommend it. I will stop by again to try the brisket next time, when I'm in town. The place is clean and very nice. Also nice people. I will come back. read more

Do you love authentic, old school style TEXAS Barbeque?? Another great meal today at Cooper's Barbeque!! HUBS and I had the chopped beef sandwiches with potato salad and beans. ALL homemade and delicious. The owners tell me that in April they will be featuring LIVE MUSIC in their family friendly gigantic outside play area with a stage, basketball court, and other kid friendly activities. Perfect place for a family reunion, team get togethers and an outdoor wedding among other groups. The owners suggested checking out their Facebook page for more info. read more

I do not enjoy posting negative reviews, unfortunately, this place deserves it. On the positive side, owners were there and super friendly and personable. Great people. The food, however, did not match expectations. While they claim to be a BBQ joint, there was no evidence that the meat ever came in contact with actual smoke. Neither the brisket or ribs had a smoke ring or any bark. The brisket may as well have been roast beef. BBQ, it was not. Same with the ribs. And both were dunked in a terrible vinegar based sauce before serving. The sausage was decent and their sauce is pretty good. The beans were sorely lacking in flavor. Potato salad, decent. The star of the show was the pecan cobbler. Very good. I'm sorry if some people experience this as their first foray into Texas BBQ. It's not good. And it's specific to this Coopers location. Not all are related. read more

If you want good bar-b-q and you are in Christoval this will be good enough and even a wonderful experience coupled with Sunday-Funday. In all honesty, we did not stick around for Sunday-Funday, but we looked at the venue and thought, this is a great venue so talent MUST follow.. Hopefully... I would like to say this is fantastic food. The Sunday-Funday is FANTASTIC (based on predictive analysis) idea! This isn't just a Bar-B-Q joint, it is a experience of live family fun and music. (I like the concept and hope it is greater than the sum of its components.) The absolute best is the Jalapeno and Cheese Sausage! It will make you very happy! NO gristle and bone chips. I hate gristle and bone chips in sausage. There was NONE and the recipe was PERFECT. The ribs would be fantastic except for they are WAY TO salty... When my wife says something is too salty, (words I never hear her say) then it is too salty. If you had a really sweet Bar-b-q sauce, that would be a great enhancement, but you don't. Very tender and mucho meat! Why is it so salty. I do not know..... Brisket... The brisket is average, a great brisket has been slow cooked for hours and is so soft it practically dissolves in your mouth. This isn't that good, YET! If they slow cooked the brisket longer or maybe chose better brisket this would be perfect. The sauce.. The sauces were hot, thick with a heavy tomato or thin with a heavy vinegar, which are a great sauces, but how about a thick sweeter version for the ribs??? The ribs need sweetness to offset the saltiness of the ribs, or reduce the saltiness of the ribs or just an observation.. What to do: Definitely the jalapeno sausage. Definitely the potato salad. Definitely the cole slaw. The ribs are very good meat, but expect very salty which could be offset with an off the shelf sweet bar-b-q sauce. The brisket, is average, you can eat it and not be unhappy, but I wish it was slower cooked. It should DISSOLVE in your mouth and it doesn't. Go there and be selective! Try the Sunday Funday and it looks like a winner. Prices: A little expensive. You can figure about $16 per person. If you are doing a catering event, figure $15 per person... Yep, I know it isn't cheap and it isn't a great result, but those are the facts.. I hope the owners read this and tackle the challenge of making their Bar-B-Q GREAT! read more

Brisket is super burned on the outside. Sausages taste cheap and dry. Go to Bodacious, they have way better BBQ and everything else. Stay away from this place, price is too high for the amount and quality you get, read more

Super friendly owners, cute place inside and out and the food was delicious. The owner gave us a complimentary doggie bag for my pup.

So I'm back in Big Lake waiting on a cheeseburger at Cazadore's....because after driving 1 1/2 hours to Christoval to get some bbq at Cooper's I still have to eat lunch. The ribs tasted like they were cooked last week. The brisket tasted like it was marinated in ocean water. I guess the place is trading on the Cooper's name, because the Llano and Junction locations have been good every time I've been to either one. Big disappointment read more

Had a great lunch today! The place was super clean and well organized! The staff and owners could not have been nicer! I had the brisket lean cut dipped in BBQ and my husband had the ribs, coleslaw and potato salad . All wonderful. We finished it all off with some pecan cobbler and ice cream! They have a super cool venue out back for live music. We will go back soon and check that out! read more

I've only been during deer season so might be different during concert season. Been 2 times in the last 2 weeks. Once because we were in a hurry and second time because Hidalgos was closed. If Hidalgos is closed I suggest going to get a couple chimichanga's and a half a tank of diesel at Allsup's before coopers. The BBQ sauce and potato salad are ok other than that it is over priced and as my son described it "tastes like the bbq in the school cafeteria". Chopped beef sandwich was basically a shredded sloppy Joe but not on a toasted bun, they just pull the bun from the bag, might have even get the chopped from a box. Ribs are hard to eat off the bone much less fall off the bone. Brisket is dry with no flavor. Jalapeño sausage was luke warm if that. Cheese in the inside was solid, guess because the didn't dip it in their warmed up sauce in the pit. The icing on the cake the last visit was when the kid walked over to clean the condiment counter and picked up onion that someone must have dropped and he tossed it back into the bowl of onions. I know expectations shouldn't be high for a "Pit" bbq joint to still have brisket at 7pm and have to dip it in sauce to help reheat and moist, but come on man have the bbq match the price or vice-vera read more

Absolutely wonderful - we never have to think about where we will stop to eat. Hands down it's Cooper's of course read more

They served me a deer penis and said it was a beef rib! I said, is this a deer penis? Then they replied, only someone that has eaten a deer penis would know that? I said well is it? Nothing! So I continued to eat the long hard object, after I found out it was a deer penis, well it's not that the deer penis was bad, actually it was quite delicious, it's the fact that I wasn't told until it was half way down my throat, that's y I'm upset! read more

we were driving by and heard good things of the Coopers in Llano so we decided to try this one. in the past the brisket we have had at other places as been super moist, juicy and tender. it would cut like butter. this sadly did not . it had a hard beef jerky like crust. forget using plastic forks and knives to cut this. it was finger food. the sausage was okay. it was a jalapeno pepper sausage. it wasn't crisp, it was difficult to cut through also. potato salad and beans were very good. the sauce. I prefer a sweet, smoky and thick sauce. this is vinegar based and watery. nothing remarkable at all. the owners are very friendly. the meat is served room temperature and because it was hard not tender, makes me wonder how fresh or long it had been sitting in the warming station which in my opinion dried everything out. great location for concerts and such. It was so disappointing. read more

It's ok but expensive. If you are use to Cooper's quality in Llano, you will be disappointed here. Nice to have another option in Christoval but it could be better. read more

Let me first say that as I was eating at this Cooper's it was impossible for me not to compare it to the other Cooper's in Llano. Im not sure if they are the same family or owners but they are similar in many ways. Their menus are very similar, but this one did not have Mac & Cheese (I was very disappointed). So I ordered brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, and the pinto beans. The brisket was very average (it was a little tough) and, here come the comparisons, no where near as good as the brisket in Llano. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was actually pretty good and easily the best part of my meal. The beans were unremarkable but I'll admit that I think pinto beans are inherently unremarkable. Cooper's offers two sauces to choose from, traditional and "Thick". I didn't care for either of them but I thought the Thick one was better than traditional. Two other people ate with me and they ordered the cole slaw and potato salad. Both of them agreed that these two sides were "terrible" and that they "sucked". They said both sides were too "soupy". The potato salad had the consistency of mashed potatoes. The staff was friendly and helpful but it didn't make up for the subpar BBQ. At the price of $14.99 a pound I expect great bbq but what I got was not that. read more

Great brisket, workers were very nice. Me and my friends spent an hour at Christoval winery then went down the road for some good eating. I recxomens the 1 meat plate with sliced brisket, with potato salad and coleslaw. If you have room left over the pecan cobbler is quite tasty. read more

Dined here back in February 2017 during a work-related trip. Food was excellent and the place was clean and welcoming. The owners were behind the counter and were friendly and welcoming. Brisket and sausage was pretty good. Cole slaw and potato salad are solid, but don't standout necessarily. The pecan cobbler is amazing though! read more

The. Best. BBQ. I've ever had. The rib meat was literally falling off the bone and so flavorful. The brisket was super delicious as well. We got the coleslaw and potato salad for sides which tasted homemade and fresh. The people who work here are SO friendly. They showed us around the place and brought us out back where they have concerts on some weekends. Such a cool place to hang out at. read more

The food is never hot. Not sure how they keep it at a safe temperature. I guess safety isn't a priority, since none of the employees wear a mask and they continue to have concerts knowing the danger of spreading the virus. I guess money is more important than safety. I won't be supporting this place anymore. Food is overpriced anyway. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ read more

The reputation far exceeds the flavor and value. Ate there last week for the first time at this location and the brisket was dry and absolutely no smoke flavor. The beans were good but the cost for sides plus a sandwich is excessive. The plates are even more costly. I have had better barbeque (really good barbeque) from a food truck with very affordable prices. I will not go back to this restaurant and I feel bad that it is almost the only choice for lunch in this lovely little town. read more
