On a cross-country road trip and decided to stop at this little BBQ place that's right off the freeway. Wow did we make the right choice!! We ordered the BBQ ribs, potato salad, macaroni salad and beans. For dessert we got the blackberry cobbler and an iced tea to drink. The ribs and chicken were perfectly seasoned, fall off the bone tender and were accompanied by a delicious BBQ sauce on the side. The tea and blackberry cobbler were not too overly sweetened, which was perfect and a nice surprise because most places tend to go way over board with the sugar. The macaroni and potato salads were perfectly seasoned and super tasty! Generous portions, delicious food, great service and a cute little outdoor sitting area to sit and eat.... can't beat it!!! Definitely worth the stop and would coma back again if when driving through the area. read more

The tea is fresh brewed and the potato salad and macaroni are decent addition to the meal. I will warn that they only have outside seating so plan accordingly if the weather is cold or rainy. Five Stars All the Way! We stopped at Wagon Wheel BBQ today and it was hands down one of the best meals we've had on the road! We tried the brisket, pork ribs, and smoked sausage -- and every bite was absolute perfection. The ribs were so tender they fell right off the bone -- even the cartilage was soft and melt-in-your-mouth good. The brisket had that perfect smoky flavor with just the right amount of seasoning, incredibly juicy and tender. And the sausage? Packed with flavor and just the right kick of spice. I ordered the 1-meat plate and added both the sausage and ribs. It came with two sides, and I chose the coleslaw and potato salad. I was so impressed -- the slaw had a perfectly balanced flavor (not too sweet, which I love!), and the potato salad was over-the-top delicious with dill pickle instead of sweet. Such a nice, tangy twist. The plate also included dessert -- I had the option of peach cobbler or brownie. Traveling through the South, of course I went with the cobbler, and it did not disappoint. Warm, comforting, and the perfect finish to a great meal. The hospitality was just as good as the food. The owner served us personally, made wonderful suggestions, and was so kind and welcoming. She even wished us safe travels when she heard we were headed back to LA. As a bonus, she let us enjoy our meal on the patio since we had our little dogs with us. Truly top-notch, warm Southern hospitality. I also loved the decor -- it's a quaint, charming roadside gem with real character. I'll absolutely be back next time I'm driving through Texas. My dog and I were coming from Northern California traveling through Texas on our way to the Florida Keys. I stopped to get some gas and noticed there was the best smelling barbecue in the air that I smelled in a long time so we followed the trail and came across Wagon Wheel barbecue. The owners were super nice not only to me, but also my dog and gave us the best barbecue that we could imagine brisket, sausage, and peach cobbler to die for! Super friendly. What a great surprise in a little package. The owners do all the cooking. Excellent homemade barbecue, brisket & the sides were excellent, right down to the desert and homemade bread. Nice couple. UNBELIEVABLE Brisket and Ribs! So tender and flavorful, no knife needed. Fun atmosphere, revamped gas station. Had it been a little warmer we would've enjoyed sitting in the side yard at the picnic tables. No indoor seating, but I truly didn't mind eating out in the car. It was that good. Very disappointed in this BBQ. I was coming from El Paso headed back to Austin and I was hungry for a new BBQ joint to try. I'm not happy I waited that long traveling across Texas for this. Brisket came out dry. Had absolutely no flavor. I couldn't taste any smoke either. Ribs had a decent salt/pepper taste, and a little smoke, but it was a weird tasting smoke. The lemonade my wife got was more like "water with lemon". Very watered down. I also got pinto beans (no picture) and they were done in an insta pot. Again, absolutely no flavor whatsoever. I had to resort to the bbq sauce they gave us to get most of the food down. read more

Tucked off the freeway in a little out of the way town, this BBQ joint is a treasure of a find. Run by Mom and Pop, with Jr to help, the service is friendly and they are really a pleasure to talk to. With Covid they have moved their entire operation to take out or dine out, but they do have a few tables available to sit at outside. The bbq was amazing! We had chopped and sliced brisket sandwiches, which were full of flavor and just zippy along the taste buds. Don't let the inside of the place put you off, as it's not what you'd expect and has more of an informal catering feel to it, because the food is what's worth stopping for, and the weather was perfect for eating outside. If you're looking for something different than (no offense intended) Mexican food (and I'm sure there are a lot of good restaurants with that fare) then try the Wagon Wheel. Locally owned and operated. It did not disappoint. The owner lady is very nice, gives you a substantial portion, and the food is OUTSTANDING!!! Had the chopped biscuit sandwich and it was again OUTSTANDING! Had some of her cherry cobbler and a brownie and everything was, how should I say this, OUTSTANDING!!!! MUST when driving through town! So happy we found this rustic gem!! We all had the brisket sandwich in a yummy bbq sauce with pickles, onions, and a fluffy bun. The delicious cole slaw and chunky potato salad were perfect, and I am VERY picky about both!! Everything was very fresh, not salty, and very flavorful. We were three people and everyone was very pleased! This wonderful Ma&Pa is in an old gas station, and it was a pleasure to meet the lovely owners who make all the food fresh daily. While moving across the country from San Diego to Atlanta, we stopped here for lunch and it turned out to be a memorable experience we will never forget. The food was perfect (I got the brisket sandwich!), service was impeccable and the owner Kirby was so kind and hospitable. It happened to be our Jelly dog's birthday today and she really hit the jackpot cause Kirby shared some ham hocks with her!! We also learned so much fascinating history about Ozona and the surrounding area. If you have a moment, ask about the Davy Crockett statue in town...it's a great story. Fairly dirty and dingy, Health protocol aren't exactly used (no gloves while touching food, etc) and the only place to eat is outside in the 100 degree heat, (bathroom is also there... also needs a good cleaning) but the sandwiches was tasty. Potato salad was ok...not much flavor. Macaroni salad was a cold pasta salad with lots of flavors, quite sweet. If you like sweet relish, you'll probably like it. Strong flavors, quite tasty. She didn't toast the buns, so they got soggy pretty quick, but she did butter them, and I was pleased with my sandwich! (I'm a bbq snob for sure.)
