Ribs .. Bo- tato .. beans
    Kalyn S.

We're new to San Angelo and decided to search out some BBQ. It was pretty good. The best part were the ribs, they were perfection. Great smoke, crispy and tender. The Bo-tato was their loaded potato, I asked for bbq sauce on the side and I'm glad I did, the sauce is different than what I'm used to but still good. I wasn't a fan of the sausage, no grill marks or bbq taste. Beans were full of meat and very hearty. Potato salad was a bit bland but over all a good meal.

We stopped in this spot and ordered BBQ link sausage, chopped BBQ beef brisket, and BBQ pork ribs. In addition we added beans, potato salad, and coleslaw. The meats were OK, not much for the money and it all tasted dry. The sides were OK. We didn't try any of the desert because I put down enough money at this place to give most things a try. The sauce was good but not great. I've looked all over San Angelo for good food and haven't found great BBQ.

This is the best bbq I've had in SA so far. The brisket had a nice smoke ring and was very tender. Link sausage had a nice bite and a little heat. Potato salad was NOT out of a box, it tasted homemade. And the beans were flavorful with bits of meat in them. One unique thing are the sweet hot pickles. You can help yourself to them and add a nice kick to your plate. The workers were busy and food served hot. The one thing they could improve on (and this is for 99% of restaurants in this town) is the restaurant ambiance. It's old and in need of an update inside. The flooring and tables/booths scream old Taco Bell decor/colors from the 70's. But the food is still really good.

This BBQ place is one of the most popular ones in San Angelo so we decided to give it a try. Once you step in you smell the smoke which made the experience better! The costumer service was good but the food wasn't the best. The meat was a lil bit bland but the beans and potato were really good!

Chopped brisket sandwich, potato salad, and beans

I tried this place, because of the high ratings. Maybe I came on an off day, but I was not impressed. I got the chopped brisket sandwich, baked beans, and potato salad. The brisket was somewhat dry, didn't have much flavor, so I had to add lots of sauce. Not sure what happened with the potato salad, but it was almost inedible. The beans were probably the best part of the meal. Service was quick, and the food came out hot. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the barbecue I've had in Dallas, and the hill country. I don't think I'll try this place again.

This was some basic tasting over priced BBQ. Was very disappointed as this was my first BBQ experience in Texas. I ordered the combo with ribs, brisket, potato salad and beans. The quality of taste just didn't do it for me. I'm sure some people may love it, but the food was under seasoned in my opinion. I'd compare the quality to food you'd find in the cafeteria.

This BBQ joint had great smoke flavor and the chopped brisket was very tender. I also had the hotl links, they had a smoky ending that sneaks up on you. One of the nice things was the pickle onion bar to ad crispy and tangy to your bbq or top for a sandwich. They have white or wheat bread to go with your meal. I want to come back and try the sloppy joe sandwich. I recommend a light amount of bbq sauce in the chopped brisket, the hot links would be fine on there own. The menu includes sliced brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and smoked turkey. I will be back to try some of bodacious flavors, very good job over all. Recommend for BBQ in San Angelo. Great

This place was ok decent idk for $50 but hey. We got the banana pudding not the best honestly. It was a clean friendly place except for at the counter the men acted like it pissed them off or it was a big issue that we was looking the menu over cause we never had been. I mean we would stop back by on our road trips but also other restaurants we dot. Have back home to try... the bbq sauce wasn't just omg out of this world either. But BBQ in Texas is a hit and miss anyhow....

The Food: WOW, absolutely amazing Texas style BBQ. I had the 2 meat plate, brisket and sausage with 2 sides, fries and beans. The portion size was Texas sized and this meal ended up being lunch and dinner. The brisket was Smokey and moist, the sausage had an excellent flavor with a good crisp on the skin. Fries are Fries, kinda hard to mess that up, and the beans were. The staff were friendly and smiling the entire time. They answered all of my questions and actually engaged us while we were there. I will definitely return here next time I am in town.

I was greeted as soon as I walked in the guy behind the counter helped me with my choices. I was looking for either 2 or 4 piece chicken tender meals since there are two of us for dinner. As far as FRIED chicken their only two options (excluding BBQ) are 3 or 5 piece tenders or a bundle of wings w/tots or fries. I opted for the 5 with tots so we both could have at least 2 tenders each. As I waited I noticed the restaurant was pretty clean, the drive thru was busy and looks like they were also getting a catering order ready for delivery. My wait wasn't that long perhaps 5-7 minutes as the chicken is cooked fresh when ordered. None of that precooked crap under a heat lamp here. We really liked our chicken tender dinner w/tots and the assorted dipping sauces on the side. Nice portion size enough for 2 people for sure. No pics to post as I forgot my camera but will definitely post pics on our next BBQ mission. They do have a nice BBQ menu and I'm not sure why their online menu doesn't show chicken tender meals???

Arrived and there were not many cars in the parking lot. As the reviews say, it doesn't look like much on the outside, but the food is really good. I think it looks very quaint on the outside, but inside looks like it was thrown together. Just inside the door is a pile of busted-up cardboard boxes lying on the floor. The place across the street is "Ban Moon", a Lao & Thai Restaurant, which has also been recommended for us to try. Their parking lot is full. Putting Ban Moon on the list. Bubba's Smokehouse dining room is filled with small tables and chairs, not much of anything else. There is a large cooler with lots of Brisket ready to be seasoned and smoked, along with large containers of Potato Salad and even larger containers of their Beans - and lots of containers of Pickles. Nice. They do have a loaf of white bread at each table for you to use at will, along with a roll of paper towels. The menu board is above the small counter where you order. My Wife went with the Brisket Sandwich with one side and chose Cole Slaw. I ordered their 2-meat plate, Brisket and Chicken. I asked if they had Moist Brisket, and the lady taking our order paused and said, well, the brisket is, well, moist. This also comes with 2 sides. I chose Beans and Cole Slaw. We also ordered 2 drinks, Diet Cokes. Orders are in, and we grabbed a table, which was easy because no one was sitting down. The aroma from the kitchen is filling the room, and it smells good. I grabbed a couple of containers of Pickles and White Onion pieces, and some silverware. Wasn't long before our food arrived in take-out containers, which is the best way to serve food at a BBQ place - no mess. My Wife's 'Moist' Brisket Sandwich has a lot of sliced Brisket piled up high, more than the other BBQ places around here, and a small container of Cole Slaw. My 2 Meat Plate has a Very Large Chicken Leg & Thigh with 2 slices of 'Moist' Brisket under. Speaking of Moist, I don't think these employees here know what Moist Brisket is because the Brisket we received is sliced regular Brisket. I first tried the Cole Slaw, and it is good. Love the juiciness and the fresh crunch. My Wife also liked the Cole Slaw. The Beans are a little dry and not much flavor until you get down to the juice in the bottom of the small container. My Large Chicken Leg and Thigh are just about lukewarm, with the leg being on the cold side. There is nothing wrong with eating cold chicken, but it's not what you want when you go out to eat. It's nicely seasoned and is Very Meaty - I like that. The Chicken itself is on the dry side, but I like the seasoning of the skin. The "Moist" Brisket is also dry because it's not a Moist Brisket, and a little tough, not tender at all, and it lacks any flavor. They do have 3 sauces for you at the table with a bottle of store-bought hot sauce. One sauce is Regular, and it's okay in flavor. The next one up is, I think, Spicy Sauce (the markings are wearing off), and it's not much different than the regular sauce. The sauce marked 'Hot' is on the mild side, but overall, they are all pretty good and provide added flavor to a not-so-flavorful brisket. I didn't try the store-bought hot sauce. The Pickles are delicious, with a nice crunch, and the white onion has very little onion heat to them, but they also have a nice crunch. The best I can say is that we tried Bubba's Smokehouse, but I doubt we will return. The best thing on our plates was the Cole Slaw, but my Wife did enjoy her sliced Brisket Sandwich, and she tried all of their sauces, regular, spicy, and hot. I ate one of the slices of Brisket along with a few bites of Chicken. The rest I'm taking home to see what I can do to improve what I can. Bubba's Smokehouse is not what we expected, especially since it has been recommended to us several times. We have yet to find a really good BBQ place in San Angelo, but we will stick to the one we usually attend until we do. Wherever we go out to eat, we always have fun and enjoy the outing. The Staff at Bubba's is very friendly.
