First off it smells like a sewer that has freshly been loaded, the service is pretty harsh and the foods mid but not worth the price and they charged us for every refill of doctor pepper and we only had 1 refill each such a rip off should be shut down

Showed up with reservations so we didn't wait once a waiter showed up. Unlike the crazy wait times between drinks, once we ordered food, the appetizer and food came out in good time. By the time we finished our meal, we waited for our check for a bit instead of waiting longer to get dessert. The food was cooked well and tased delicious, and the drinks were filled to the top. The atmosphere was nice looking like a hunting lodge with an outside patio. Overall I think it has the potential to be a great restaurant if they get a hostess and some more servers.

Half inch thin "30oz." Porterhouse steak with a very large strip of fat the strip of was thicker then the steak.

I've been to allot of steakhouses and this one was by far the worst I have ever been to. $36 for a 30oz. porterhouse that was clearly not 30oz. a good steak should never be less then one inch thick especially a porterhouse my porterhouse steak was about half an inch thick if that and it had a very large strip of fat along the edge of the steak. What kind of "chef" serves a steak with a large strip of fat. The steak had decent and the service was good.

We ordered the steak bits today. The flavor was good but the meat was so tough it was not edible.

We started with a 1/2 order of onion rings. Yes, my pic shows a 1/2 order! Totally crispy & delicious! I ordered the daily special (fried fish) & my husband had hamburger steak. The fish, hush puppies, & okra were perfectly fried. The Cole slaw was creamy & definitely homemade. My hubby loved his hamburger steak, gravy, & grilled veggies. Everything was cooked just right & tasted homemade. My lunch ended with a cupcake. Gotta love that! Lots of locals were eating lunch here. That's always a good sign. Super cute "farm" decor.

Sounds like small town Texas doesn't it? It's rare that I take the car club into an unexplored restaurant. But, there was confidence. Yelp profile? Not so much; but a recent feature on a Texas centric TV show called the Daytripper. Enough for me to take a chance on Jacoby's. Said family also has an east Austin eatery but I don't dine after five. High time I lead some cars out to Melvin, Texas. Left Bee Cave and took every curvy road I could because sports cars. Took longer to arrive than taking straight roads but we're now sitting down in the cafe. Uhhh, where are the steaks from your own private heard? Dinner menus delivered to the table. You can't stop staring at the desserts at the end of the bar. Onion rings were amazing. Don't think artful or presentation here folks; think squirt bottle of ranch. Still need more but saving for the main course. Steak was delivered and the GF cut off her personal hunk. First thoughts is to compare the dining adventure with Hilltop Cafe and Johnny Nicholas at Hilltop Cafe. If you build it they will come. I think the term "home made" is used WAY too much these days. Jacoby's nails this category. Simply prepared great steak, veggies, salad, and desserts. Staffers even protected the desserts with wrap in between servings. It was good to walk in and dine; locals dressed to a "T" because this is a special occasion restaurant for them. I bought a hat. First time in forever I'm wearing supporting carb. Great place!

Absolutely no customer service, no greeting, no smile. We all have bad days but you could tell this was just who she is... Maybe make her in charge of cleaning things and not dealing with the customers? (the same person could care less when the couple next to me received their order backwards. The woman couldn't eat spicy foods and her burger was covered with spicy items. She took it up to the woman taking orders and the woman refused to do anything. Wow.) The restrooms, wood sides along booths, pickle table and the condiments/tables need a serious cleaning - there is grossness abounding. I didn't see one person busing or cleaning in the restaurant - and it shows! Gross. The fries could've been great if they were crispy but they were all super soggy. FRY FAIL! Onions: you can leave them thick for the onion rings but if you're putting a slice of onion on my burger you better slice it thin. Nobody needs a huge half inch thick slice of onion in the middle of a burger. PRO: The burger was cooked to perfection. At least they got that right, which is why I gave them three stars - nothing else I experienced in this restaurant deserved any stars. The owner/manager are lazy at best cause they obviously don't care about the customer experience.

First of all, let me just say that Dawn, the owner, and her son, Curtis (the chef) have a totally charming place inside and I had one of the best burgers EVER! You know when you have a hankerin' for a cold Dr. Pepper on ice? Well, this one was a PERFECT mix of the syrup and fizz! My husband had the patty melt on rye (comes with mozzarella instead of Swiss) and he said it was A+, too. Btw, Dawn named the restaurant JoJo's because of her pet monkey of the same name, and his picture is everywhere. Plus I had the joy of talking to 6 year old Emily about mermaids. If I ever pass through El Dorado again, I will definitely stop here again. Home cooking at it's yummiest!

Ballinger, Texas…read more Stopped at this cute sandwich shop on my way to San Antonio. It's a quarter after noon and we had to wait to get a table. Seems like the hotspot in town. Love the American flag on the brick wall on the interior of the restaurant. The restaurant has high ornate ceilings. There are two booths in the main dining room by the windows and many tables with chairs. This is a very old building with lots of original detail. The bathroom is just one toilet, which all genders share. It is not handicap accessible and very small. The stairs that lead to the top floor are full of dust. I would suggest occasionally cleaning them so that they are not dirty to look at while dining. The napkins are dispensed by a napkin holder on the table. Drinks are served in oversize plastic cups while some people have Styrofoam cups. The cutlery is real with a mixture of glass dishes and red plastic baskets with red and white checkered paper. Multiple sandwich choices with choice of bread. They offer hamburgers, daily specials such as quiche, catfish, and salads. Every plate comes with chips, pickle and a homemade cookie. I ordered the Waldorf chicken sandwich. It is made with chicken breast, grapes, apples, celery, walnuts, and mayonnaise. I also chose the oatmeal raisin cookie. My husband ordered today's special, which is chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, green beans and a roll. They aren't sure if it is still available at 12:30 in the afternoon so he ordered a hamburger as a back up. It took quite some time for us to receive our food. From the time that we sat to the time, our food was received was more than 45 minutes. Three tables walked in after us, and they were all served food before us. The waitress came over and told us we were next as she saw we were perplexed. I enjoyed the Waldorf chicken salad with squaw bread. My disappointment was potato chips had a few large ones on top and as soon as I ate, those, the rest were tiny pieces that were broken. My husband was not able to get the special of the day. Being so early in the day, it was odd to see they had run out. So the burger was served. Tasted fine, but again the potato chips were nothing but small pieces underneath the larger few on top. Had to ask for silverware. Never received a refill on my drink. In fact, the waitstaff only came by only two times after we ordered. Once to tell us, our food would be coming up and then when it was delivered. Overall, I was pleased with the way my food tasted. I understand. They were very busy for lunch hour on a Tuesday afternoon however, perhaps more than two people should be waiting the tables for the whole restaurant. This inconvenience to me having to wait for something that I should have taken no more than 15 minutes, cuts severely into my reading. Another frustration is that they charge 4% if you use your credit card to pay. I own a business and the max that one is charged from the credit card 2.8% to 3%. Why did they fail in need to charge more? Overall, I would give this place 4.3 stars. I would come back to this restaurant. However, I would come in earlier in the day so that I could get the special that they offer as well as more timely service.

He had a pickle and potato chips on the side. A choice of a chocolate chip, outmeal raisin, or snickerdoodle cookie was included with each of our meals. The pies looked delicious, but we were already very satisfied.

From the moment you arrive, it feels like you're out in the middle of nowhere--in the best way possible. The rustic atmosphere is incredible, and on the cool day we visited, they had a wood-burning fireplace going right in the middle of the dining room. It made the whole experience feel cozy and authentic. What really stood out, though, was the people. The service was absolutely top-notch from start to finish. I even had the chance to chat with a woman who's been working there for over 20 years--she shared some of the restaurant's history and how it's evolved over time, which made the visit even more special. For food, we started with the fried quail legs--perfectly cooked and seriously delicious (we could've easily eaten more). For the main course, I had the ribeye cooked medium rare, and it was spot on--full of flavor and didn't need a thing added. My wife went with the hamburger steak and loved it as well. Great food, even better people, and an atmosphere that's hard to beat. We'll definitely be back.
