This is super convenient for me. Quick walk down the hill. They had a medication in stock when I really needed it and all the big pharmacies like Walgreens & CVS were out, told me they didn't know when they would get in. This place had it ready in an hour. The staff is also friendly. Only reason for four stars is I wanted to grab a few toiletries at the same time but they were expensive. Recommend anyway! read more

Beware that if you do not fill your prescriptions at this store, they do not honor their store card and provide you with the discount, explaining that you are not in their system. Once more, the attendant asks for your ID and personal information, without letting you the terms and conditions for participating in their loyalty program. Although, the above may not be illegal, it certainly smacks of impropriety. It's embarrassing and frustrating to return to the since it is so convenient and close to home, to be told that you are not in their system, not eligible for the discounts, and you must be re-entered into the system by providing your ID and accompanying information, without any explaining why you are doing, although you continue to carry the original store card and denied being issued a new one.​ read more

Very disappointed today when I called over the weekend and was promised covid vaccines would be available today. I walked in and the pharmacist said nope and no guarantee for the rest of the week either. They took my name and number to call me but I have to get it ASAP due to visiting a much older relative and both of us immune compromised. Ironically the three customers were all masked to day but none of the pharmacists nor staff. I have them deliver all my meds b/c I can't keep risking being in places where folx don't mask. I scheduled immediately at Walgreens. I'd go back in person if they masked but since they refuse it's delivery for me only. I'm still a fan of indy pharmacies only but they won't survive if they don't mask. Covid. is. not. over. read more

Riverdale pharmacy has provided me great service with complicated prescriptions that need prior authorization and less common prescriptions. The prescriptions were ready the same day or next day. I went there to pick up a prescription and all last minute pregnancy needs (only moms know what these items are) I was embarrassed as I asked where certain feminine items were located, and no one could find them. Instead, they tried to sell me Depends!!! I was mortified. However, they did finally find what I was looking for. I went to pay for my 46 dollar bill with a 100 dollar bill. They wouldn't take it!! They thought a 9 month pregnant woman was trying to give them a fake bill!! They are so old fashioned, and they need to have the "tester" for large bills. They just assumed it was fake!! This is a pharmacy that is not with the times at all....trying to sell Depends to a 29 year old!!! And every store in NYC has a tester for large bills! GET WITH IT, Riverdale Pharmacy!! read more

This is a handy place for local residents, because they deliver and the prices are actually competitive and they accept virtually all plans. The downside is that the male pharmacist is just a nasty guy. Zero people skills and zero compassion. The female pharmacist is professional and is actually helpful. The old guy? Nope. As for other pharmacy items, they have limited SKU's but, as I said, the place is handy for last-minute, must-haves. If it wasn't for the male pharmacist being so surly, the place would rate another star. Too bad they don't contemporize the place and add stock; it would be great for the nabe and a goldmine for them. read more

Convenient place for me so I end up buying last minute items here. I wanted to move all my prescriptions here as our family has a number of prescriptions every month. I like to support the small businesses but unfortunately, they don't care to order anything that is out of stock. The pharmacist couldn't even tell me when they would receive the medication for my child. When I wanted help flavoring a different medication, again no help. So all my prescriptions have to be filled elsewhere where any special or out of stock meds are ordered and received within 24 hours. read more

Great neighborhood pharmacy. I have been going here for YEARS! Everyone is professional and HELPFUL. They accept most insurance plans and have good relationships with local physicians. Plus they DELIVER! I did take one star off because of the limited selection of other items. Aside from prescription medications they do sell a range of other health related items. Unlike the huge chain stores these items are limited and they may not carry your desired brands. They also have a fax machine which saves me from going to the absolutely terrible stationary store next door. Support local small business! read more

Been going to this pharmacy for years and have never experienced anything like that. Just because this is a family run pharmacy, doesn't mean they have to be like folksy and chatty characters in Mayberry. They are efficient and pleasant. Don't go. Evening pharmacist is EXTREMELY rude. He refused to honor a coupon I had for a prescription, saying he wouldn't do it. It would not have taken him any time (and he would have gotten a $2 processing check) but it would have saved me $10. Their prices are generally high, selection is poor. Go ELSEWHERE. read more

Never go to this pharmacy. I called them desperately needing a medication that my doctor was going to call in as soon as we hung up. They said they were closing the doors in 15 minutes and essentially refused to help me. They were the only pharmacy that was still open in Riverdale and had zero compassion. I have lost confidence in this place. They are indifferent and unpleasant to you if THEY make a mistake, and don't do anything to rectrify it. e.g they have filled the wrong rx. Another e.g. theyir automated line says they will deliver the med and it does not get delivered. When you call, they don't care. Called the Pharmacist because my doctor called my prescription to Riverdale Pharmacy in error, should have been called to another Pharmacy in Riverdale. I have problems with the pharmacist who regards me as an escape goat to let out his anger and nastiness when I come into the store. I've had some difficulties with my health insurance and maybe I demanded too much attention from the "staff". But he insults me loud enough for me to hear every time I come in. Today he outdid himself. He said to a man "look out behind you". I was standing there. Obviously he has problems but you don't look for people to take it out on. I don't get my prescriptions there anymore but I do use their photocopy and fax service and I do buy things. Maybe just a jerk. read more

I've lived here for 21 years, and this pharmacy has been under the same management the entire time. I'm sure I'll move before we get new management. OMG I didn't think I could be treated any worse by these pharmacists and certainly not a few days after my last review, but that is what happened. Last evening, after they closed, I called in an RX refill, leaving the message on the answering machine. When it was not delivered by 7PM this evening, I called to find out if it was on its way. I was told that I needed a pre-authorization and they had called my doctor but she had not returned the call. I asked why I was not told so I could call my doctor and get the refill. I also asked why I had trouble with this prescription every month--Lipitor. It was a different pharmacist from the one I spoke with a few days ago. He was equally as arrogant as the first one. I asked what I was supposed to do without any pills over the weekend and would he give me a couple to tide me over He told me no he would not give me the two pills (I have always had this arrangement when with Manhattan pharmacists in mom-and-pop shops as well as Walgreens.) He said it was my responsibility to make sure I have refills, etc and that whether I had the medication or not was not a life or death situation. Do you believe that? I must admit that he pushed my buttons and I started yelling at him. He hung up on me. I called back and spoke to a nice woman. I told her what had happened a few days ago and just now. I further told her that I could not believe how inefficient they were and how they expect the customer to do the pharmacists' job regarding refills and pre-authorizations, etc., blaming me for not being on top of the refills. BTW, I explained to the pharmacist and the lady that I have glaucoma and I can't always read what the bottle says. That stopped both of them in their tracks. Don't they get that sometimes the customers are ill or disabled? I am 72 years old. I am sure they have customers that are even older and disabled. I wonder how they treat them. The woman continued to listen to me, which I appreciated. When I complained about keeping my credit card info on an index card, she explained that this is a mom and pop shop and only the pharmacists have computers so instead of the pharmacist having to write down the credit card number and give it to the ladies up front to charge, they keep it on a index card. I asked if this was 18th century record keeping. Why don't they get a computer up front. She told me that the owner was a pharmacist as well (other than the two pharmacist employees) and he refuses to buy another computer! Can you imagine. I have patronized other mom and pop pharmacies before and never had these crazy experiences with decades old procedures and blame the customer attitude which is pervasive in this pharmacy. What kind of service does this owner think he is providing? How much is a computer now? And it's a business expense. Maybe the owner is senile and shouldn't be operating a business anymore. Riverdale is only 15-20 minutes away from Manhattan on a good traffic day. Riverdale is not in the back woods, but this pharmacy's practices and service surely is. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS PHARMACY. WHO NEEDS THIS AGGRAVATION? IF YOU DO USE THIS PHARMACY MAKE SURE YOU GET AN RX FOR VALIUM, BECAUSE YOU WILL NEED IT TO COPE WITH THEIR STUPID ANTIQUATED WAY OF BUSINESS AND THEIR ARROGANCE.
