Was there Sunday night for dinner with my family 7/12/20 Order black salmon over pesto pasta Gave me the wrong dish salmon with rice and vegetables ,then made me a new one gave me the wrong fish and try to convince me it is the right one ((Then Justin from the kitchen)) came out with the right fish this time telling me you better like it I'm not making you a new one after they made the wrong dish three times !!! It's a shame it's a nice place with bad customer service hopefully they'll get rid of this employee that make the place looks bad I do have to say ED the manager was nice and professional and try to Kosher it read more

This place is ok. Not bad. Setting is right on the marina on the brick side of the route 70 brick/wall bridge. Nice space inside, and definitely had life this hot June Tuesday afternoon. Casual summer shore setting ... we sat outside by the marina, right on the Manasquan River, nice views of Wall township across the way. Our server was prompt and friendly. Beer selection was basic, so I just had club soda. Sushi was great, fish tacos were very good, with thick cuts of mahi mahi. My wife had the ahi tuna salad which tasted good, but the ahi tuna itself was cut very thin. After hours experience is pretty good, they clear out the inside tables to make it a bar/club atmosphere. read more

We ordered 3 different sushi - Spicy mama roll, Amazing tuna roll and Black angel. All are very small portion and the quality was not good at all. Rice was dry. Bill was $45 approx and it definitely did not meet our expectations. Never again ordering sushi here. I guess you are better off sticking to ordinally sports bar food selections here. read more

We enjoyed happy hour at the outside beach bar last night and Louise our waitress made our night outstanding. It was very crowded and she took the time to acknowledge us and then kept the drinks, food and laughs coming. Service during summer can be subpar due to temp help but Louise was awesome - a seasoned professional!. Food was very good. Recommend! read more

I'm sorry River Rock Grill, you just don't make the cut and unless I'm desperate, I don't think I'll be back. Here's why: First, you need to rethink the list of beers on your menu OR invest in a Sharpie marker so that you can cross off things that you don't have. There were six people in my party. 5 of us ordered a different beer and you had none of them. We only ended up with the beer that we got b/c I'm pretty sure someone ran across the parking lot to the liquor store. For a "sports bar" on a Saturday night, that's just sad. Second, not everyone wants a bowl of soup and maybe they just want a cup of soup. I don't think soup cups are expensive. You should invest in some. Third, roasted clams are not the same as clams on the half shell. Roasted clams are cooked. Clams on the half shell are raw. Fourth - the roasted chicken looked like it came from a Cornish game hen as it was on the small side. And speaking of small, the sliders should be labeled as 'Mini sliders' (another use for that Sharpie marker!). I must say that our waitress was a good sport and we could tell she was getting frazzled from the lack of support from the bar and/or kitchen. And my burger was cooked to order, which is a plus for me. Overall though, I was pretty disappointed in the experience. Maybe if you rethink your beer list and menu, things might improve, but I can confidently say that I won't be back. read more

Fun place to go to on a nice summer weekend. Good music, long wait for table. Staff friendly. Food a mixed bag. Burger and fries are excellent. Jersey burger with an egg on top is perfect. Do not bother with the Bison burger. Dry and tasteless Greek salad had mixed baby greens instead of crisp romaine. No kalamata olives, only those black things that are tasteless. The feta cheese crumpled so small I could not find it or taste it. Do not order this here. The kitchen should go to a good diner, order one and duplicate it. The french onion soup bland because kitchen is lazy. No butter, no garlic, no thyme, no red wine. This was simply beef broth with flavorless onions, not prepared properly either. Cheese was nondescript. Do not waste your time ordering this. Kitchen should go to the cooking channel website. There must be 10 different recipes. The wings were pretty good. The bleu cheese dressing was too mild and there were no celery sticks. The pizzas are very good. Wood fired, very tasty, good tomato sauce. Clams and oysters looked good as did the sushi. I do not eat uncooked seafood anymore, but you can take the risk. Plenty of TV's for sports viewing when the weather gets too cool to be outside. I have been here 4 times. It is a fun place, just keep your food choices simple. read more

It was very busy - a high volume sports bar. That said, the food was good and the staff was professional and friendly.

This review is for the outside eating area only... definitely not inside. A friend and I went for brunch (didn't get the brunch buffet, it looked awful) We sat outside, ordered drinks and sandwiches. We had a great view, the food was good and our waitress was friendly. When the staff accidently cleared our drinks when we left for a moment (told the waitress we'd be right back) they gave us new drinks very quickly. I would come here again just for the pretty outside deck. As for the inside, it would definitely get one star. The place smells like a dirty bar (pee and cheap booze). I can't imagine eating inside. read more

Ever see Road House? Remember the Double Deuce? This is the Manasquan Rivers Double Deuce. It is a quick walk for me to get down there for a quick beer or burger, but I have only been a few times in the past year. When there it is usually packed and loud, which can be a good thing. Make no mistake, this is a drinkers bar, which can also be a good thing. The lot is usually packed and the party often goes on late. We have had countless DUI arrests in our front yard from the bar as well as fights/alert cations involving police. Not fun. Food is run of the mill, nothing crazy, but not awful. Staff is friendly come winter, but don't be surprised if they are half tanked. Can't tell you how many times I have gone in for lunch after working in the yard to watch bartenders downing shots. Giddy up I guess. Great for a beer and bite with the boys, but don't bring grandma for dinner, unless she wants to get tanked and bust a car window in the parking lot. read more

This is my favorite place to hang out with friends and family. I've enjoyed great drinks and food. I love the summer while sipping on a glass of wine while looking at the water on their beautiful deck! Wednesday night is ladies night with Starr the psychic, who is great! read more

River Rock - Jill W - Seafood Near Me - Brick, New Jersey

For the past few years my husband and I when he is on vacation have gone to another shore area local restaurant in Point Pleasant. On the way down on 34 we would see the billboard for River Rock but had never tried it...well that was until tonight. Oh my goodness!!! We throughly enjoyed the view, atmosphere and food. Our servers name was Jake. He was very friendly, professional and attentive We started with the nachos which were yummy. My husband had the mahi mahi tacos and I had a turkey sandwich. We both had asked for a side salad instead (a couple of dollars more, no big deal). The only negative for me is that the side salad says iceberg and romaine lettuce. When it came out it was the funky weed lettuce which I do not like. I didn't want any other side and our server Jake took the extra charge off the bill. read more

The guys on my softball team refer to this place as "Stinky's Bar and Grill" and I think that pretty much sums it up. Good location and waterfront atmosphere - fine for a beer after a game or work etc. However, I'm not a fan of their food. Had several owners in recent years and the inconsistency shows. Had dinner on their new deck last night - beautiful view and setting. Food and service was awful though. read more

I went to River Rock with my wife, sister-in-law, nephew (10), and niece (5), for a late afternoon lunch. The place wasn't busy, and we had a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. It was hot, so we chose indoors. The place has a water view: a marina, a concrete bridge, and what I am told are better restaurants on the other side of the river. The waitress took our drink and appetizer orders and returned with them quickly and efficiently. The fried cheese stick appetizers and dipping sauce were just fine, but nothing special. Our food orders were calamari pasta for me, chicken salad for my wife, shrimp salad for my sister-in-law, and mini-burgers from the kids' menu (three for the nephew, two for the niece). Soon after taking the orders, the waitress returned to tell me that the kitchen was out of one of the ingredients of my dish, but that I could still get it without that; I went ahead with it. The food arrived quickly, and everything was correct. Unfortunately, the food just wasn't very good. My calamari was fine, and the pasta was OK, but the red sauce tasted like something out of a can, and not even good canned sauce; it was runny and seemed to be lacking all the herbs that are supposed to make pasta sauces interesting. My wife and sister-in-law did better with their salads. The shrimp was over-cooked and rubbery, and the chicken was a bit under-cooked, but the greens were fine. The kids didn't seem impressed with their mini-burgers; even under threat of "no dessert unless you finish at least one burger each" they ate less than half a burger each. Part of the problem was that they weren't all that hungry, but my nephew said the burgers were overcooked too. I tasted one of my niece's fries, and it was tasty, with a hint of cheese flavor -- probably the most interesting thing I ate there. When time for dessert rolled around (for the adults only; the kids missed their chance), my sister-in-law tried to order her favorite flavor of gelato. The waitress said they were all out of that flavor, so we decided to skip dessert. The final step was settling the bill. For some reason, at that moment our waitress was sent to serve the outdoor customers -- with no back-up, because all the other wait staff were sitting down, apparently on break. Eventually, our waitress returned inside, delivered our check while two other servers brought take-out boxes for the kids' left-over burgers. It seems they were trying to compensate for neglecting us after we declined dessert. Another problem was that the food was really expensive, at least for pasta with bad sauce, uneven service, nothing-special atmosphere, and a view that included a concrete bridge. On the plus side, they got the salads right, our waitress was good (when the manager didn't overload her by sending everyone else on break), and the place seemed kid-friendly. I won't be back because I don't live in New Jersey, but I doubt my sister-in-law will return either even though it's very close to her home. read more

I came here for both dinner and lunch over the course of a few months. It is away from the beach so you do not get that crowd. Dinner was a much better experience. We came by water and found a transient spot available for us to dock and eat. Arriving later at night we were seated promptly. Service from the bar was slow, but the food came out fast. The blue cheese burger came from good meat and seasoning (a little salty) and was cooked perfectly. Lunch was the opposite. Outside was at full capacity, bar had a few people, and no one else really was sitting in the main dining room. Caught a drink at the bar in minutes. Beer selection is pretty average from your classic American to the less crazier craft beer. We were sat after our beer and had to wait close to 15 minutes before someone that did not ignore us came to wait on us. There was confusion from the hostess stand apparently. Had to wait another 20 minutes for easy sandwiches to come from the kitchen. The garlic steak that was requested to be medium well came out nearly rare. I tried a piece from my friend and it would have been alright if you like your meat that way. They use jarred garlic by the way. Lots of flavor, but it looks cheap. Buffalo chicken wrap was tasty. Juicy chicken with some buffalo sauce is as hard to make as that steak sandwich. Prices are inexpensive. read more

4 stars for the food. 2 stars for the service. More like 3.5 stars. With all the staff walking around service was slow. We had to seat ourselves because hostess took a break (we were told). Then we had flag down another employee to ask if anyone was going to wait on us. Later, they'd see our glasses were empty and walk right by. Really? We have to ask them for another drink? Yet despite all of this our meals came out perfect and made up for everything. Well kinda. Would we go back ? Yes! Would i tell a friend? Yes! Just don't go on a Wednesday at 3pm. read more

Haven't been here since Sandy and the change looks positive. Ordered Sushi and believe it or not it is very good ... Ok, I'll admit it, we are Monmouth county snobs who rarely cross the "Bridge " . I don't mean to be that way, anyway, we went back to the River a rock. This place before Sandy was not great, lousy food, with a great location, right on the water. So we went a few times and tried to warm up to it....didn't work. Fast forward nearly 2 years after superstorm sandy, when the River Rock and most of us got wiped out, and back we went. I had heard some good things from people I kinda trust, so.... It was a sunny day, but not a beach day, and we were hungry, we wanted to be on the water, so the River Rock won. Got there, parked, entered, and were stopped at the hostess stand. She could not leave the stand unattended ( WTF you are a hostess ) but whatever, so we waited for hostess number two to return. In the mean time we looked around and noticed the obvious improvements in the atmosphere thanks to Sandy. The finishings were upscale, the bar was better positioned, the vibe just felt better. We sat on the deck overlooking the water, a beautiful setting. We ordered sushi, recommended by the hostess who couldn't leave her station, and it was great. Had to wait a bit, service was ok, but waitress was nice and apologetic for the wait, so we let it go. The meals being served around us looked good, and we will go back. I'm not ready to dedicate a Friday night to the place, but a weekend afternoon, in the deck, with great regee music, and decent food...I will take that all year long. Well done Rover Rock..... read more

A very cool location and large space to enjoy the game and a few beers. The most recent time here (in December), I ordered the BLT and the lobster bisque. Both were good. M enjoyed the lobster bisque as well. M's dad and SO both ordered burgers, which they said they both enjoyed. Our server was nice and quick with a refill or to check in with us. I loved the holiday decor... it made the large place feel warm and cozy. We sat in the table area to the right, not in the bar room, so we could hear ourselves talk as the bar patrons cheered for their favorite team. I liked the feel of this place, and would like to come back in warmer weather to enjoy the outside seating. I plan to update my review after another visit or so in warmer weather. read more

I was here last Sunday for a charity event. I had been here only once before (in May) on a date to eat. That time I really enjoyed it. We dined outside, and the food, drinks and service were all good. Enough so that I was really looking forward to Sunday's event. This time around we sat at the bar, and this experience was quite different. The service, the food AND the drinks were not good at all. Me and my boyfriend both ordered a Margherita on the rocks, and I don't know whether it was the mixer or the bartender, but mine was horrid and my boyfriend's wasn't much better. We both wound up ordering different drinks second go around. I have to give credit to one of the bartenders there (who was not OUR bartender but was around and more attentive/friendly than ours) who took my drink off the tab as I couldn't even drink it, and apologized. Also, I just have to say, and maybe it's just me, but please don't throw/slide things across the bar to me. That's only cool if I'm sitting in a dive place and it's a beer. It not only caught me off guard, but some of the drink fell on my phone too. That comment is attributable to 'our' bartender who was never around to ask for another drink, and seemed annoyed when I told him the drink sucked (noo I did not say it in those words lol). As for the sliding moves, I observed him doing it to everyone so I didn't take it personally, like I said, it just caught me off guard the first time around. Food wise we ordered the chicken quesadillas and boneless buffalo nuggets. Both were disappointing. A few people in our group had sushi and they said it was good, however they ate outside at a table, not at the bar. I would like to say it's cause the place was packed, however it was packed the first time too, and our experience was much different. I will go back one more time, and hopefully it's just the bar experience that sucks because the view and floor staff here are really nice. read more

One star deducted for the horrible solo cover act that was so loud that I had to scream across the table to hear my friend and vice versa. Another star deducted for the price of food. That leaves three stars. This is just a bland, nondescript bar and restaurant with better than average service. That's all. read more

This place is right down the street from my new house and I finally had lunch there today. It was gorgeous, we sat out on the deck overlooking the river. The service was quick and attentive, the menu has a lot of different options, we ordered fried calamari, sushi, and a burger and fries. It was very affordable and the food was delicious. Bonus was Eric Burg playing 90's alternative acoustic classics. I will definitely be frequenting here. read more

In the wake of this Covid garbage, it would be prudent for restaurants to offer reservations or call ahead seating to avoid people herding like cattle at the entry waiting for a seat. I get that there would be a 2.5 hour wait on a Saturday night, but at least offer customers the option of calling ahead for a time to come or, and this is a novel idea, putting together a reservation system. Their customer service left a lot to be desired and I will not be returning to try the food any time soon. read more

She went above and beyond from beginning to end making sure everyone was taken care of, we had everything we needed, and everything was so special!! They have just renovated after hurricane sandy and I have to say I like what they have done with the place. The new setup is way better than the old which wasn't bad to begin with. The food is a bit pricy for what it is, but it is very good. Contrary to the consensus of yelpers, the service that I get there is almost always friendly and attentive. The beer is cheap though and they normally show ufc's. And they tend to have pretty good bands playing in the bar. Overall the restraunt would be about a 3 on my scale, and the bar about a four. The management refunded me on a cover one time that I attended a ufc here and the cable went out so because of thy gesture I am rounding up. It's a great place to grab a couple beers, have some bar food, and relax. read more

The River Rock had over 4 feet of water in it after Hurricane Sandy. They gutted the place and it is back as a true contender. It has never looked this good, even since the Petersons built it in the late 1930s. Two large bars and outdoor seating, with the dining room partially separated by a wall to block the bar noise. We had a couple of good meals there recently and have brought friends that enjoyed it. Place is now PACKED Friday and Saturday nights, one hour wait for a dinner table. SO now is the time to give them another shot! read more

Me, my husband and our son attempted to dine at River Rock on a Friday night. We entered, were seated right away, and proceeded to sit at the table for over half an hour without anyone even acknowledging us. I attempted to make eye contact with the servers/hostesses as we waited, to no avail. We finally got up and left the table. As we were exiting, my husband walked up to the hostess to let her know what happened. She saw him and turned and walked the other way. He waited for her to come back, told her what happened, and she wished us a good night. Not sure what we did to be treated this way, but we will not be back. I think this place has turned into a purely drinking establishment. As an aside, as we were arriving, there were two very drunk men getting into a car in the parking lot, spewing profanities loudly (this was at about 7 pm). read more

I would give this place 3.5 stars. A large place with a ton of activity. Somehow they pull it off. On any given weekend with good weather this place is hopping. More than enough waiters and servers, a typical bar menu with something for everyone and a large bar to boot. Only negative for me is the evidence of food scraps on the floors, tables wiped down with the same towel over and over and, dirty plates in trays at various locations waiting to be removed. When its hopping, this is less of a distraction , otherwise it is. Same can be said of most high volume bar/grills. read more

First, I know that we all are anxious to be back at bars & restaurants, supporting local businesses. That's why I ventured out. But, have to say, first time back at River Rock- not a good experience. Employees wearing masks (most at least over their mouths). NO social distancing around outside bar area. What are people thinking? Tables way too close to bar area where all seats were filled and more guests were standing around seats at the bar. Why is this establishment not encouraging guidelines to protect its patrons? The bar area should not even be open let alone with all seats filled and others crowding around. Watched less than thorough table cleaning. Won't be returning. read more
