Cute little fish shanty by the water in Point Pleasant. The food was great and the service was friendly. This has a great low-key vibe with a real fishing type of decor. The area is great. We had a lobster roll, New England clam chowder, Manhattan clam chowder, swordfish bites, and brussels sprouts, with bacon and Parmesan, and two unsweetened iced teas. Everything was wonderful. We highly recommend the swordfish bites, they were literally fantastic. You can sit inside or outside, we opted for outside because they had shady little nooks where you could sit that had fans and it was so cool and comfortable. I could've sat there for hours. This is a BYOB. We had also visited the other point lobster house that is in the walkable town a few blocks away and that is a bar so it's not a BYOB. Point Lobster is in a great spot right on the water, and the outdoor seating makes it a nice place to relax. The location and atmosphere were probably the best part of our visit. I ordered the hot lobster roll, and while it was decent, I've definitely had better. It just didn't have the flavor I was expecting, especially considering the price. My wife had the fish sandwich special, and she felt the same , it was okay, but nothing memorable. Overall, the food was average, and we both thought it was a little overpriced for what we got. If you're already in Point Pleasant, it's a convenient place to grab a bite and enjoy the waterfront, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. read more

Tried this place out for the 1st time last night. It was good. Was seated quick. Ate inside and it was cute. My husband got the lobster bisque soup. It was cold, but it was tasty. Of course it would have tasted better if it was hot. The brussel sprouts were very good! The lobster roll was ok and the shrimp wrapper weren't bad. I would go again. There is a to go area, bathroom, and then indoor seating area. They have merchandise behind the register. Started with the tuna nachos and crab rangoon mozzarella sticks. Tuna was good quality and had a good coating of sesame seeds. My perfect bite was tuna, orange sauce, seaweed, tomato, & onion. The chips were perfectly crispy. The crab rangoon was surprisingly good. This appetizer is what made me pick this place. Such a good combination. Didn't need the marinera sauce. Next up soups. Lobster bisque was ok. I guess I was expecting it to be a little more rich. But it was good, it tasted exactly like lobster and I got good chunks in the soup too. Now the shrimp and corn chowder was super flavorful. Favorite dish of the meal. For mains, cold lobster roll and two tails w butter and side salad. Side salad was well dressed and I appreciate the ribbons of Parmesan. The lobster was mostly cooked right. There was one that was a bit chewy. Added salt and butter but felt like something was missing still. I couldn't find a good combo of toppings to go with the lobster. The cold lobster roll was alright. The potato bread added a good sweet flavor that complimented the lobster. We visited on Friday for lunch with a party of three and it was a nice experience. We arrived and were seated right away, the dining area is relatively small and has garage type, roll down windows, which made it a little cold due to the nasty weather. We started with a few appetizers; oysters on the half shell, clam chowder, and lobster mac & cheese. All were quite fresh and tasty, the chowder was served luke warm. After that we went with warm lobster rolls. The rolls had portions of lobster chunks and were excellent. The service was great, the waitress kept up with our needs while the place filled up. Went on another date last night, Sunday September 7th. It is right on the wharf. It is a fish market with what seems like a small restaurant attached. There appeared to be some outside seating as well. It's right on the Manasquan River. You can catch a nice sunset there. I must say the fried calamari is the best I've ever had. It was lightly battered, not overcooked, very tender, couldn't ask for better. My date ordered it but I think I ate most of it! I usually never order this appetizer as it usually is not good. She also ordered the crab cake sandwich with fries, she seemed to really enjoy it. I had the seared salmon tacos off the specials menu. They were served with tortilla chips. The chips seemed homemade, a good side. My tacos were delicious. I don't usually like salmon in a fish taco, but the way they were dressed, the pico and red onion, the flavor and texture just worked perfectly. Our server was excellent as well. We were told they didn't come with a side and then we end up with fries which we don't eat. Apps were okay but thirty minutes into our wait for entrees, the waitress came to let us know the kitchen was backed up and it would still be "a while". When the food finally arrived, our hot lobster rolls were cold. Some had adequate filling while others must've had just half an ounce. Our fries were also cold. The manager checked in, we expressed our concerns and she rudely tried to up-charge us for extra lobster before PLACING HER HAND ON THE FRIES to check the temperature. This has been my go to lobster roll spot in Jersey Shore. The service is always great and the food is always amazing. Their "indoor" seating is the patio which is very comfortable, especially on a hot summer day. Would recommend coming here if you are in Point Pleasant or just craving a lobster roll. Honestly I did not care for the rice it was very starchy and not very flavorful. IMO This dish would be better with side of seasonal vegetables. The chocolate mouse cake was redeeming. lol.
