    Hot Lobster Roll
    Robert S.

We visited on Friday for lunch with a party of three and it was a nice experience. We arrived and were seated right away, the dining area is relatively small and has garage type, roll down windows, which made it a little cold due to the nasty weather. We started with a few appetizers; oysters on the half shell, clam chowder, and lobster mac & cheese. All were quite fresh and tasty, the chowder was served luke warm. After that we went with warm lobster rolls. The rolls had portions of lobster chunks and were excellent. The service was great, the waitress kept up with our needs while the place filled up. Overall, an excellent place for seafood, a bit pricey.

Owner awsome person ! Food great. Drinks great! LBeen coming to this restaurant many years and not once she has treated me me or my family kindly! It shameful be because the owner is a very nice person and caring about her customers! If people are unhappy with their lives or angry about things, they should not be in that position you dine out to have an experience and an enjoyment of your day or evening! Some people are more sensitive than others, but kindness is something that should be shown to everyone! Overall, it's a great restaurant and well run! Be nice. Yes nice!

Went on another date last night, Sunday September 7th. It is right on the wharf. It is a fish market with what seems like a small restaurant attached. There appeared to be some outside seating as well. It's right on the Manasquan River. You can catch a nice sunset there. I must say the fried calamari is the best I've ever had. It was lightly battered, not overcooked, very tender, couldn't ask for better. My date ordered it but I think I ate most of it! I usually never order this appetizer as it usually is not good. She also ordered the crab cake sandwich with fries, she seemed to really enjoy it. I had the seared salmon tacos off the specials menu. They were served with tortilla chips. The chips seemed homemade, a good side. My tacos were delicious. I don't usually like salmon in a fish taco, but the way they were dressed, the pico and red onion, the flavor and texture just worked perfectly. Our server was excellent as well. Will definitely be back!

So good! I devoured it within minutes haha. The lobster tasted fresh and flavorful and the bread was soft.

Been craving for lobster roll for a while and finally got to satisfied my cravings. The calamari was very fresh but could use more seasoning. The lobster roll was really fresh and juicy and I loved the sweet potato fries! My husband got the fish taco and said it was okay. The waitress was really nice and attentive. The staffs were all very friendly.

Service is awesome and the food is delicious, try the tuna nachos if you're a fan of raw tuna, the specials are great once got a shrimp salad on a roll it was delicious. Also the lobster bisque is amazing but you kinda figured that already. 10/10

We recently celebrated my daughters birthday at Point Lobster. Not only were the staff helpful in setting us up at a big table, but they even stored our cake and brought it out at the precise time! Great people, fantastic service, delicious and extensive seafood menu. We will absolutely be back!

The perfect way to end a beach day!!! The coconut crusted shrimp was sooooo flaky and delicious. The lobster chunks in the bisque and roll were HUGE which I loved. I honestly could've ordered the lobster roll without the salad bc I was already stuffed The wait was short (Sunday ~1:30PM), very clean seating area, and there is a parking lot available :)

This has been my go to lobster roll spot in Jersey Shore. The service is always great and the food is always amazing. Their "indoor" seating is the patio which is very comfortable, especially on a hot summer day. Would recommend coming here if you are in Point Pleasant or just craving a lobster roll. I drove 90 minutes for this!

There's also a huge free parking lot right outside. Our waitress, Liz, was kind, attentive, and clearly very experienced. The restaurant is BYOB, though they do sell a few bottles for around $35. Just note that wine options are limited--they only had Chardonnay as their white wine option. The complimentary tuna salad was so good that we bought a container from the market to take home. We each had a cup of clam chowder, shared the miso scallop sushi, and ordered the sesame-crusted bluefin tuna special. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. The highlight for me was the key lime pie--one of the best I've ever had. We loved everything and can't wait to come back and try more dishes!

So great start. The trouble started with the main course- Cod fish and chips. What I got was what looked like a plate of greasy over cooked shoe string fries. Where's the cod? Surprise, the cod is on the right side of the plate and looked sadder than the fries. The 4 pieces of cod were slightly smaller than my average skinny man fingers. In search of more cod I lifted fries thinking maybe it was buried in the potato avalanche. Alas the cod I saw was all I got. But that's not all. The cod had the consistency of poorly cooked calamari. Thank goodness for Kohrs. Your seafood $$ are better spent at better establishments.

We ordered our drinks and apps and had a wonderfully pleasant waitress, Delores. It was busy the day before Father's Day but the staff was on point with their service and demeanor. The apps: old bay fries, crispy and delicious. Steamers, sweet and succulent. Garlic shrimp, spiced just right with the crunchy shrimp. New England clam chowder, loaded with clam & potato in a creamy base. Dinner: Scallops & linguine in a truffle cream sauce, earthy and delicious. Shrimp& grits with andouille sausage, tasty and spicy. Both hot Lobster roll w butter and cold w/ bruschetta, tender juicy and plentiful. The addition of the tents outside is a great addition. Umbrellas just do not offer enough shade for the whole table. We enjoy our meals and will be back again.

If you are coming later in the season, I would try to reserve. First up -- some nice slices of warm crusty Italian bread and butter. I ordered a cocktail special - the Kelle Belle (or similar) which reminded me of a Pimm's cup. La Portena had her usual Riesling -- no complaints. Lobster bisque was one of the hits, the typical rich broth, with the not so typical actual lobster meat - small bits to be sure, but so often there is no lobster at all. We also shared a lobster roll as a starter - it was good but I would have preferred larger chunks of meat - the roll was accompanied by some tasty tortilla chips. Next up, a complimentary salad - this was fine. I ordered soft shell crabs - they were perfectly fried meaty specimens but the french fries and cole slaw seemed like afterthoughts- the plating was haphazard. La Portena's flounder stuffed with crabmeat was a better plate overall. Two fresh small filets, stuffed with a savory filling and some good mashed potatoes. The glass of New Zealand sauvignon blanc I chose to accompany the crab had the strongest grapefruit nose I have ever experienced. I know these always taste of grapefruit, but this wine was over the top. No room for dessert. Our server was warm and pleasant, and the entire experience transported me back to shore dinners with my parents in the 70s. I would return.

Since it was lunch time we both got the sunset dinner specials which are served from 12:00 - 5:00 pm. Both of our meals came to start with a generous salad (you can also get a bowl of chowder if you aren't interested in salad), soft drink of choice, and dessert. (I got carrot cake and my mom got chocolate cake) The food was extremely fresh and came out very quick. The restaurant itself was also clean and we had a beautiful view of the water with the docked boats. Food - Broiled Jumbo Shrimp - These juicy broiled shrimp were smothered in the most luscious butter sauce. The shrimp itself were very tender and the seasoned butter sauce gave the shrimp an amazing flavor. My meal came with a baked potato that I added some butter too and a side of mixed veggies which were also seasoned nicely. - Coconut Shrimp - These were the most perfect coconut shrimp. Each of the jumbo shrimp were battered in a generous amount of coconut flakes and fried to perfection. These shrimps were crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The shrimp paired nicely with the sweet chili sauce on the side. The dish was also served with French fries which were nice and salty.

I really debated on whether this was a 3, a 2 or even a 3 1/2 star (please add half stars). But,…read moreeither way it will not be repeated for us. It was just not up to par. The atmosphere is nice, the view of lovely boats, etc. The drinks were I would say a step below average, we didn't complain just drank them and did not order seconds (were never asked anyway). I don't think the bar has experienced bartenders so there was no point in asking for a remake on any cocktails. Onto the food and the service: the food was just passable, it was more of what you would get in a diner. This was not all freshly made seafood, this was the type of seafood such as stuffed shrimp that you buy premade in restaurant depot and heat up and they are all perfectly uniform and skimpy. The jumbo shrimp were smaller than what you would serve for cocktail shrimp, and they were all precisely the same. Two people had this at the table. There were seven of us. The lobster tails seemed to be freshly made, chicken seemed to be a reheated premade item like the shrimp and the 2 different salmon orders both seemed likely to be made there. The oysters Rockefeller was so cheesy and very little spinach. I had never had it like that at all and they were too large a size oyster for that particular dish which I order whenever I see it on the menu. This place was recommended as a good seafood house. It's not. Is it edible? Yes. Did we eat everything? Yes, we did. Will we go back? No, thank you. The service person was very nice (sweet), but really should not have been working. She had a bad leg and a really bad hobbling limp and she had laryngitis which made it hard for the table to hear anything she said. It wasn't that she was a bad person it just made it less comfortable of an experience for us. And due to her leg, most likely hurting her we were not asked about a second round of drinks and our waters were not refilled until we asked so the service was OK. Possibly they need more help and they need to be able to pay somebody to stay home when they're not up to working. I blame the restaurant for that, not the waitress. Restaurants see somebody coming in that kind of condition - they should send them home with pay if they value the employee. It does not make for a good experience for either the employee or the customer. That said I have taken pictures of the food and the lovely atmosphere. I do believe that the majority of the food is just reheated from restaurant Depot, which is not necessarily a bad thing but when you pay $35 for stuffed shrimp and you get something that came out of a frozen box it's not exactly a vote for quality. I don't mind the price, I did mind the lower quality and precisely uniform machine made style (also the lack of any crab in the crab stuffing). Chowders were OK, not much of a clam flavor, but the soup was good. The steamers were good. Salads were fine. Dessert was good, actually very good. Everyone had dessert and all the varieties were good.

Is this the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to?…read more Actually, yes, it is. And I have been to a lot of Italian restaurants. The wait for a table was 45 minutes, but it was worth every minute. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was wonderful. We ended up being seated in a back patio room and though it was very hot outside (one of those 100 degree days last summer), it was actually very nice in there. The show started with someone asking for our drink order, then coming back with said drinks. After that she brought out some starts on the house, courtesy of chef and owner Joe. We were off to a great start! Soon after she returned to get our dinner order. After that, Chef Joe himself showed up to our table to thank us for visiting his restaurant and ask how we liked things so far. We let him know those starters were perfect...eggplant balls and a corn/tomato salad. Eventually our dinner came. Both dishes were waaaaaaaay more food than either of us expected. I had ordered chicken with mozzarella squares on top and drizzled in balsamic, which was a special created by Chef Joe's wife, according to the menu. My partner got eggplant parm...and wow, what a pile of food it was. Two huge eggplant pieces piled high with delicious sauce and served with some delectable pasta. Chef Joe came back to the dining room awhile later to ask people how their entrees were, and we let him know this was a great experience. I want to go back to Point Pleasant just to get here again. This time I will make a reservation.
