First time at Half Moon Point! Made fans of us easily. We got the calamari which had fried the peppers which was a different touch and we loved it. I got the seafood pasta and my old lady got the lobster salad. The seafood pasta was delicious and the lobster salad came with a Brie fried wedge which was incredible. The staff was very friendly and they were prompt. We had a reservation for 830 and they were able to change it when we called earlier for us. We sat outside and it was perfect! Half Moon Point is an excellent American restaurant in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. The atmosphere is casual. The band starts at 7:30 pm the Saturday night I visited. Our server was great! The busser was very good as well. I had the garlic bread appetizer which was both filling and very good. My entree was the Chicken Parm with vodka sauce. The food was excellent. My beverage Little Willow First Flight IPA was a bit pricey. The resteraunt offers a decent drink and dessert menu so the food options are plenty. I went to a Rosé pairing dinner and it was absolutely amazing. The service from the staff was beyond stellar and prompt to help with anything we needed. The lighting was perfect for the special dinner and everything on the set menu was absolutely excellent. The chef made an amazing handcrafted menu to be paired with 5 different bottles of rosé and each glass was better than the next. Celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary there recently. Food was outstanding. The risotto with scallops (they substituted scallops for the shrimp) was delicious was my wife's favorite. I had the ny strip cooked to my liking at medium rare. Excellent bartender who prepared several martinis for us and Tiffany our outstanding waitress surprised us with a fantastic chocolate martini to close out our evening. The restaurant is quant, clean and showed my wife and I attention that is hard to find at times today. Menu has great variety offering nice selections. I had the short rib and it was tender, flavorful, and properly prepared--not over sauced. The blueberry with salted caramel ice cream dessert was delivious. The food was excellent. Was able to make a reservation on Open Table at noon for a 5:30 Saturday outdoor dining slot. Super convenient. My husband wasn't sure about the menu. However, our party of 5 left completely satisfied. The $17 nachos were worth every penny. They came with delicious guacamole and chopped onions that I kept scooping up. The appetizer was meant solely for my husband's enjoyment, but all of us wound up eating it and it was more than enough. I had the special shandy drink and my mom had the fall sangria. My drink was lackluster, but she enjoyed hers immensely. I should have just ordered wine- oh well, next time! It was restaurant week and I had the special for $33 - spinach salad (omg so good), halibut and dessert. It was an incredible meal for the price. Husband had crab cake sandwich and sweet potato fries. My dad has the shrimp asparagus pasta and my mom had the short ribs, which I will definitely be getting next time. Minor complaint - the kids pasta doesn't come with a side. I refuse to pay $8.50 for butter pasta and not get anything moderately healthy for my daughter. We wound up getting her the chicken fingers with broccoli instead which was only $9 and a much more substantial meal. We had a baby shower on feb 15. We (both moms) had met with staff and booked and then sat with Maria to finalize plans. One of the main reasons we booked the shower here was because they said they could make my dil's favorite dish--chicken Milanese--for the event. They recommended family style because we had 50+ guests. On day of shower, menus that half moon point had made were on tables--we didn't provide these! They listed. Salmon dish and the chicken Milanese. When the entrees came out, however, they brought out a different salmon dish which was fine but only brought out very thin chicken cutlets with NO arugula, tomatoes or dressing. When we asked about this, the waitress brought out straight marinara for chicken to be dipped in--NOT Milanese by a long shot!! Several tables did not get either vegetables or potatoes as well. We did everything in our power to make this a wonderful experience and it's still upsetting to us a month later! We voiced complaints that day as well as to Maria later that day and were told it was a "miscommunication"! THEY printed the menus and who would have ordered just dry, thin chicken cutlets like that?! Again, the decision for the shower to be held there was based mainly on their assurance that we could get chicken Milanese as an entree because it was my dil's favorite dish there. Two messages were left for the owner to call us with no response which I find to be very poor customer service on his part. Besides that, the lack of response regarding this from all staff involved is very disappointing. We have been long time customers at Half Moon Point prior to this and now we are kind of turned off and have not been back since. We feel as though this was a significant issue (and expense) for them to not even respond to our complaints. read more

I was disappointed. The menu item was described as blackened shrimp over lemon Linguine. There wasn't a hint of lemon and the sauce had the blackening spices making it overpowering. The shrimp were not blackened. Some one in the kitchen didn't understand this dish. The linguine was also gummy. My companions food was good. Food coming from the kitchen looked great. We live down the street and had heard HMP got a new chef; so decided to give it another try (as last winter the food was not even edible). Took our waitress nearly 10 min to greet us, then when our meals arrived, we had to hunt someone down to get silverware- in which my husband just went to the host stand to get it. Food was mediocre, no seasoning on vegetables and steak/tuna completely not the temperature that we requested. Then, after waiting another 15 for our drinks and kids' desserts, we asked for our check to only be surprised that the waitress charged us multiple times for drinks. After correcting the check, we still were caught off guard as how expensive everything was...our server, automatically added 25% for herself, then when my husband questioned her, she argues with him to say, "You did that!" My husband was so caught off guard he responded with, "I really wouldn't argue with a customer. Just take it!" Will NOT be giving it another chance. It's been a while since I've been to half Moon. It's the first time that I have been upstairs. In fact I never knew there was a second floor. I do know that the food is prepared downstairs in the staff must go up-and-down to get their orders. I guess you call that great exercise. I ordered an end cut prime rib, medium and was perfectly cooked. The garlic mashed potatoes were also excellent, but the veggies were somewhat cold. I didn't bitch to Allison, my server. I also found the breadsticks to be stale, just not enough crispiness. I asked for butter to mitigate the feel. The butter packets were completely frozen. tsk, tsk. I visited this local establishment Saturday Oct. 19th with my wife & another couple. I live in Point Pleasant & find that not only is this establishment conveniently located but the food & entertainment are pretty decent also. My main grievance from Saturday night was that fact that when I ordered 2 Basil Hayden Bourbons neat; the waiter arrived with these two heavy cocktail glasses with what appeared to be roughly between an eighth to a quarter of an inch of Bourbon in each one. I was immediately incensed when he put down the drinks & looked at him like this couldn't be happening. I straight up told the waiter that although it wasn't his fault; the two pours were pretty crappy. ( I used the S word & not crappy). I've been there plenty of times in the past where a normal single pour was literally two fingers high from the bottom of glass. Long story short, I will never go back to this establishment again. My money will go a longer way elsewhere & I've got a lot of friends that will find my experience surprising to say the least. read more

We went at 4:00 on Sunday 10/6 afternoon expecting to order the advertised Octoberfest sauerbraten only to be told they were all out. Very disappointing for Oktoberfest! So I ordered a burger medium. It arrived well done so they had to remake it. At this point I was filling up on the overdone dried out onion rings. Our appetizers and drinks were great. Our waiter was amazing. Only issue was a huge delay for our entrees what seemed to be issues in the kitchen. Delays are never fun with a large group and children. That said, the management was proactive and helpful and for that reason, we will be back!!!! Sometimes things happen and this is a great example of management and service taking accountability and making it right-- a good example for other restaurants. Our meal: firecracker shrimp (just ok), Surf and Turf Sliders with Sweet Potato Fries (very good), Lobster Grilled Cheese with Tomato Bisque and French Fries (very good), and cocktails- Beach Peach (excellent...SO good) and Honey Bee (good). The waiter was very attentive, but the kitchen must have lost our order. 3 tables came after us and received their food promptly. When we inquired, we were told our steak dinners were done and were just waiting on the seafood dishes would be a few more minutes. To wait an hour only to receive the filet mignon and skirt steak barely warm was the final straw. For the prices they charge you would think they would have better service. I thought it odd when we had to put our dinner choices in at the same time as appetizers so they knew ahead of time what to cook. read more

Went here for the first time on Monday and it was pretty good. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The inside is bright with large windows, hard to believe it's owned by the same group as Harpoon Willy's. Some of my group went for the prime rib special which they said was delicious. My burger was average and so were the wings. They do have some good happy hour deals, if you're into that. The location isn't that large, even with the upstairs, so I'd make a reservation on a busier night if possible! I'd go back if someone else suggested it, but wouldn't be the first place I think of. FYI they don't give out bread here, they are cheese covered breadsticks. Personally I was surprised since they serve so many dishes with clams and red sauce that would be great for dipping. This is a local restaurant for me which once and a while we like to visit. Food is consistently good. Nice variety on the menu. I usually go for the fish dishes that are fresh and tasty. My only complaint is they don't offer bread to start. The wait staff are attentive and friendly. They have a bar and high tables if you prefer dining that way. I like to eat upstairs since I feel it's a little cozier by the gas fireplace. Enjoy. read more

Like a completely different restaurant. Waitress was annoyed we had children (regardless that they were behaved). Rice was hard, sent it back, still hard (like crumbled in my mouth hard). No help or apologies... in the past, this was always the little restaurant that tried hard to make a good experience for all! Now they seem to not care about the customer or the experience. We are here on Saturday night. My cousin is in the Air Force and was local for a long weekend of Memorial Services for loved ones we lost in 2020... We were suppose to be a party of 6 that blew to 14 in a matter of hours. We were excited to find accommodations but were never informed of the set up in advance. That would be my reasoning for 4 stars vs 5. We were sat at picnic tables under umbrellas in the make shift outdoor seating. Unfortunately there was not much intimacy for our large party and a few elderly guests sat inside without us due to the heat. They have a large outdoor deck where I believe our party should have been sat, it definitely seemed like a quaint place to be sat and I guess they preferred putting several smaller parties there. Our server, Haley, was so sweet, professional, accommodating and absolutely attentive to every member of our party even as some people arrived in dribs and drabs. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I was told the French Dip and the Lobster Salad were very good. I had the Lobster Grilled Cheese with truffle fries, recommended by our server, and it was delicious! I would have appreciated a butter based dipping sauce but it's served with tomato bisque which may be very good but I'm never a fan so I can't give an opinion. While we down the Jersey Shore for a few days we stumbled onto this great Tavern in Point Pleasant. Gio has a Burger (as usual haha) w/ Sweet Potato Fries. Good stuff! I had a Wagyu Flat Iron Steak Medium w/ a Gorgonzola-Horseradish sauce and Fries. Really Good! Desert was apple crumble with ice cream and a coffee. All I All a good place to go to. My sister-in-law brought my mother-in-law here. In turn my mother-in-law brought my wife and I here and we're returning this Saturday evening. I get the feeling that it's that kind of word of mouth place. The patio area is comfortable and cozy. It was a hot day when we were there but a beautiful breeze kept the temperature down. We each had a Margarita to start, they split calamari which they enjoyed. I ordered beef stew. I love beef stew and yes I realized it's June and would agree beef stew is a winter dish but I hadn't had it in so long that day it was an anytime dish. It was tasty but more like a beef soup than a stew. Stew is thick and hardy, this was more of a liquid consistency. Also to me stew should have chunks of meat, this had pieces. Yet I enjoyed it, it tasted just like beef stew. I don't recall what they had aside from it was salmon and they enjoyed it. I had a second appetizer as a dinner, nachos. Big pile of chips that I couldn't finish. It came with chili on it, I love chili but there wasn't enough to tell you if I liked the chili or not. I've had better nachos and I've had worse. I wouldn't steer you away from them. As for this coming Saturday their cheeseburgers looked really good...guess what I'm having! read more
