This time around we did experience some unexpected disappointments. *The Halibuts were dry * The Corvina which has been a special for a long time was not the same. Fish had a different texture and didn't taste as fresh. The bread pudding was a miss. The veal was good and service continues to be gracious/friendly. As a first time visitor to the area and restaurant I was not aware of the BYOB optionality. This should really be front and central when booking a reservation. Something as simple as including it in the confirmation text would be a game changer for an experience. Nonetheless the food and service were nothing great. Strongly recommend getting the poached pear salad, great portion as well (we split it between 3 guests) the calamari was very fresh and light (I know even for a fried item you could taste the lightness) For our meals we ordered the scallops, the lobster special and a chicken pasta (modification) the seafood quality is absolutely palpable and the accompaniments are very well thought out. Back again, to one of our favorite restaurants to celebrate two birthdays! We came on a Saturday and reservations are strongly recommended. We started our meals with Asparagus Fries (I really liked them) and Cajun Calamari. Both were excellent. Entrees consisted of Corvina, Halibut, Pork Chop and a Frenched Chicken Breast. As usual, all entrees were delivered in a tmely fashion and piping hot. Dessert (of course, we needed dessert) consisted of Peach cobbler and Bread Pudding. BYOB! read more

ok, I'm lowering my rating to four stars. I went for my birthday dinner tonight and unfortunately the scallops were overcooked. they were VERY stringy. I'm not a big scallop eater, so I mentioned it to my friend and also googled stringy scallops, friend and Google both confirmed this means they're overcooked. my friend also reminded me the scallops were not good the last time we went either (she's the scallop connoisseur). the bathrooms were also in the same state they were since my last review. the good things about this evening's visit were the corn bisque and the creme brulee. I may stick to soups/dessert if I come back. The price isn't worth gambling on the entree personally. it's still a good spot and I may be back, it's just not a five star spot to me. read more

Delicious food and great service! I've gone here twice with friends and it was a pleasant experience. The food was scrumptious and service was excellent. We never felt we were waiting around for our server. Our water glasses were filled promptly when nearing empty. The seafood here is fresh and tasty. I'm not a big fan of the fish special they normally offer that comes with jumbo shrimp and I believe corvina fish. It lacked something for me and the sauce seemed too much. I recommend another seafood option instead. The temperature felt nice in here and not too chilly. It is a great date spot or a night out with friends or family. There is a small parking lot in the back, but enough that there's usually some spot open if you go around 5:30pm or so. It is located a straight shot down the street from the point pleasant boardwalk. My friends and I went here for dinner then enjoyed the rest of the evening playing boardwalk games and walking around. For the main course, I have indulged their ancho-coffee rubbed New York strip, parmesan, and almond crusted halibut, and the diver scallops. All were amazing. We recently enjoyed a lovely meal in this pleasantly quiet and ambiance approved bistro. Our server, Sandy was quite helpful and knowledgeable about the menu to navigate a wonderful experience. Had out of town visitors today with two children 9 and 7. Went to the Poached Pear as they have a children's menu but also an upscale adult menu that would appeal to my NY foodies. They were impressed as the food was excellent. The staff was quite solicitous and and accommodating; especially when it came to the children and their meals. We tried this place Friday evening, everything was perfect. The service was impeccable and the food great. We were surprised at how many app/entree selections they had we wanted to try. The soup of the day was very nice, Caesar salad and crab cake were quite good and our entrees, the Lobster Special and fish were delicious. I had an amazing experience at The Poached Pear last night and would give them 10 stars if I could! Wow, I was blown away by the food, service and ambiance. The restaurant has been highly recommended to me so I decided to check it out with a colleague for a celebratory dinner. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and could be a great option for an intimate dinner. We were promptly greeted upon arrival and seated. Please note that they are BYO so don't forget to bring you favorite wine pairing for dinner. Our server, Margie, was phenomenal. She was attentive and knew all of the specials like the back of her hand. I was also really impressed with the variety and quality of the specials. The more information she shared the more difficult it became to decide what to order! We started with the garlic shrimp, calamari, and burrata. The garlic shrimp were divine! The calamari and burrata were also very good but you can't skip the shrimp. As our entrees I had the crab cake and my colleague had the lobster/crab/shrimp special. I don't know what they put in their food but with every bite we commented how delicious everything was! To wrap up we tried the bread pudding dessert. We drive two hours each way to eat here. It never disappoints. Aside from excellent food and service, one of the things we love is how accommodating they are here. I've called ahead when I've made our reservation to request something out of the ordinary and they always come through!! Tonight our waitress was Chris and we loved her! Super friendly and professional. Couldn't ask for better service! Another thing that sets them apart from many other restaurants is that they seem like one cohesive team that is dedicated to your dining experience! From the owner to the bus staff to the waitress, they seem to notice everything and anticipate what you need before you even think to ask for something! Also, we always order a specific risotto and it is THE BEST RISOTTO I HAVE EVER HAD!
