The Poached Pear has a modern look inside but with a quaint feel. My waitress was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and very thorough when explaining the specials. There were multiple servers making sure the water was always full. The food was delicious from appetizers to the main course, and there was a plenty to take home. The fish I ordered was phenomenal, and was sitting on a copious amount of creamy risotto. My wife ordered perfectly seared scallops, so we both ate from each other's plates. Highly recommended by friends and it was a truly outstanding meal at this BYOB restaurant. Outstanding service. The wedge salad and the octopus appetizers were delicious and shareable. The main course steaks and fish dishes were also outstanding. Added bonus is that the restaurant has sound panels throughout making very easy to carry on a conversation there. One of my favorite places for a nice, upscale, intimate dinner. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The staff are polite and professional. The menu is absolutely delicious. From appetizers to dessert, there is something for everyone. I have been to this establishment at least a half a dozen times and I've never been disappointed. The pear pizzetta and beef carpaccio is our favor appetizers. For the main course, I have indulged their ancho-coffee rubbed New York strip, parmesan, and almond crusted halibut, and the diver scallops. All were amazing. Their gelato and sorbet is all made in house and melts in your mouth. For a little more indulgence try the lemon Napoleon. All in all this place is amazing. It's BYOB so I'm willing to pay more since I can bring my own bottle. You will not be disappointed. read more

Very good food and service but grossly overrated. Honestly, I'd rather have a casual fresh seafood meal overlooking the water in any one of the great spots nearby for the price. I do not see the appeal. But the food is very good and so is the service. Place is tiny. It did nothing for me except drain my wallet. Not memorable at all as far as my meal. read more

Once again an incredible dining experience, Nick and team were beyond attentive. Our table of four each had the evening specials, two enjoyed the lobster/crab cakes, angel hair with shrimp and corvina, shrimp over risotto were all devoured. Had out of town visitors today with two children 9 and 7. Went to the Poached Pear as they have a children's menu but also an upscale adult menu that would appeal to my NY foodies. They were impressed as the food was excellent. The staff was quite solicitous and and accommodating; especially when it came to the children and their meals. Small menu but every plate is a star. Highly recommend I ordered the Grilled Filet Mignon (for the millionth time) and requested it cooked medium rare and when I tell you it was perfect, It was PERFECT . Texture is juicy and tasty yet not super filling. It's a top choice grade A piece of meat. FYI Mark is so accommodating and never misses a beat. Can't wait to come back for the 86th time! We recently enjoyed a lovely meal in this pleasantly quiet and ambiance approved bistro. Our server, Sandy was quite helpful and knowledgeable about the menu to navigate a wonderful experience. The ancho-coffee rubbed NY strip steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare perched on top of asparagus fries and mushroom risotto. The beet salad was delicious too. I had an amazing experience at The Poached Pear last night and would give them 10 stars if I could! Wow, I was blown away by the food, service and ambiance. The restaurant has been highly recommended to me so I decided to check it out with a colleague for a celebratory dinner. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and could be a great option for an intimate dinner. We were promptly greeted upon arrival and seated. Please note that they are BYO so don't forget to bring you favorite wine pairing for dinner. Our server, Margie, was phenomenal. She was attentive and knew all of the specials like the back of her hand. I was also really impressed with the variety and quality of the specials. The more information she shared the more difficult it became to decide what to order! We started with the garlic shrimp, calamari, and burrata. The garlic shrimp were divine! The calamari and burrata were also very good but you can't skip the shrimp. As our entrees I had the crab cake and my colleague had the lobster/crab/shrimp special. I don't know what they put in their food but with every bite we commented how delicious everything was! To wrap up we tried the bread pudding dessert. If you haven't tried The Poached Pear you have to book a reservation ASAP! I'm already planning my next reservation! read more

Went here on a friends recommendation and I could not have been happier with the meal. We started with the duck ravioli and gnocchi. The duck was amazing. For entrees my girlfriend and I split the porkchop and the halibut and both were A+ Dessert was the flourless chocolate cake and ended the meal on a high note. Will be back for sure. read more

We tried this place Friday evening, everything was perfect. The service was impeccable and the food great. We were surprised at how many app/entree selections they had we wanted to try. The soup of the day was very nice, Caesar salad and crab cake were quite good and our entrees, the Lobster Special and fish were delicious. We have found this restaurant to be consistently five stars, which is rare. The prices are all what you would pay for fine dining.
