Went to PJ's after a beach day over at Island Beach State Park. We were craving seafood and saw PJ's had exactly what we were looking for. I had the fried seafood platter and it wasn't too bad. Wish the breading stayed on the seafood better but it still hit the spot. My wife killed the linguine with clams. For the price I would expect bigger clams but overall the meal was fine! Strolling along the MTV Jersey Shore boardwalk and going to places where Snooki visited, my buddies and I stumbled across this joint. We ordered the Special Fish of the day which turned out cold, the pasta which was more than al dente and came with sauce that was as described and the fried seafood basket, which was likely its only redeeming quality. Never Again coming here. Lesson learned, next time at any beachtown/boardwalk will just stick with the philly cheesesteaks, funnel cakes etc. read more

We live here year round but often forget PJ's Place exists. We decided to eat there last night and it was absolutely delicious! Shrimp appetizer was hot and spicy. The bread was toasted well for dipping. I am not a pork person but decided to try the bone-in pork chop parmesan. It was incredible. My husband had the Seafood dish (forget the name) but his was equally as good. Portions were very generous so we basically shared my pork dish and he brought his home to eat at home. The service was good as well and our server was lovely. Our only negative is that the air conditioning wasn't great and on a hot day, it was a bit uncomfortable. Really good food! Be careful not to pass this place like I did a few times. Seafood tasted very fresh and everything else was too. Chef was excellent. Me and my family of five ate there twice the week we came down. We tried a few things and everything was great. Nice to have a real chef working in a kitchen just slightly around the corner of the boardwalk. Staff was friendly and place seemed clean. Pj's Place was by far one of the best spots we tried in Seaside Park. So good that I'm still thinking about it months later! They are BYOB which wasn't a problem since there's a liquor store directly across the street. The first time we went (I'm telling you, it was so good we couldn't stay away) we decided to have the popcorn shrimp/calamari appetizer, Seafood Paella, which was recommended and the Chicken Parm. The popcorn shrimp/calamari was the perfect way to start the night. It was light and tossed in a spicy and sweet sauce. Honestly I could have this night after night and not get tired of it. They put their own spin on the paella so don't expect a traditional flavor. It literally has all the seafood under the sea including lobster and comes with a sauce that has a slight kick to it. The portion was very generous. The chicken parm was cooked perfectly and the cheese was super oozy. It came served on a bed of pasta and the portion was huge! The second time we went we got the Grouper Delmar, which was one of the days specials. This dish blew...me....away. I ordered it on a whim and I'm so glad I did. The fish was perfectly seared and topped with lobster. The sauce was somehow both rich and light. It came with roasted potatoes and asparagus. Honestly, order this if it's on the menu. The service was incredible from start to finish on all our visits. PJ came and greeted every table and I can tell this place is a labor of love. The chef himself also stopped by to make sure everything tasted great. In regards to COVID, I couldn't have felt safer. Each table was appropriately distanced, employees were wearing masks and I noticed all tables were being sanitized. When in Seaside Heights, we make going to PJ's Place a must. This time, we sat outside for breakfast on a beautiful morning. There were 10 of us, including some rambunctious toddlers. I saw good reviews of this place on Google so I wanted to try it! When we first pulled up, my boyfriend was a little apprehensive because it's next to an ice cream shop in the board walk. But when you walk in it's a cute little restaurant! There's a lower and upper level and it looks like the doors slide open to the outside seating when it's nice out. I got the grouper fish, which was a special menu item, and my boyfriend got the lobster roll. Both of us were very happy with our picks! He loved his lobster roll. It was buttery and exactly what he wanted. The fries were solid, too. I loved my grouper! This is the second time I've ever had it and it didn't disappoint. It was flaky and not fishy at all and came with potatoes and a fruit salad type deal on top. It was surprisingly a good pairing! Both of our meals tasted super fresh, too. Whoever cooked it, cooked it really well. The workers were nice and the service was fast. Ok for regular breakfast, I would stick with eggs, or breakfast sandwiches. Every time I pass this place it doesn't seem busy. The service was friendly, things took some time to get out. Things seemed either over or undercooked. When they came out our hash potatoes were heavily seasoned and soggy. My husband got pancakes that seemed ok. Our friend got a waffle that presentation looked great... but was overcooked. I did get a veggie omelette with cheese. That was good, and the sausage patties were good. So that's why I say stick to the egg and breakfast sandwiches here. The music we walked into was a heavier song by "The Weekend," some songs were a bit softer R&B (which I am a fan of)... but most were a bit "hard" for the morning hour. Stopped at PJ's (on 6/28) on our last day in Seaside for a quick breakfast. We ate outside on their picnic tables. Nothing fancy however what's important is that the service and food was good. Was pleasantly surprised by how tasty this food and their dishes were at this cute little local spot. Get the salad that has shrimp on it with roasted beets and goat cheese! Their shrimp is cooked perfectly on every dish - plump, juicy just cooked enough where it tastes like lobster. Italian dishes were authentic - one of us got that Saltimboca and the Italian food was even better than the crab cakes (that was the only dish that was mediocre). The service (we had a guy named Mike? one night & a girl the other night - we went twice in one week, we were so impressed) was amazing. REALLY super nice & hospitable wait staff. The conch fritters from the specials menu were so good that we had high expectations for our main courses! Nope. No way. Not even good. She had the watermelon salad. It was drowning in dressing. I wish a Seaside Heights lifeguard would have tried to save it. Alas, nobody could. The grilled shrimp were very grilled on just one side. The other side looked as if it had never been anywhere close to heat. Historically, I managed to find the worst version of Chicken Scarpariello. It was deep fried on-the-bone. Came here because our normal spot was jammed. Let me say that we are VERY patient people, but this place is just NOT it. Our server brought us our drinks and was never seen again until we stood up to ask for the check. It took 35 mins to get pancakes and waffles. This would make sense if there was food rushing out of the kitchen to feed a bunch of people, but the place wasn't full and only one other table's food went out in that time. If to-go orders are backing up the in-person service, maybe that process should be adjusted. Had to stand at the counter while 3 people walked passed, then finally I had to ask someone else standing next to the hostess stand (talking while we stood there) if they could please ring us up. Aside from slow/no service. The bacon was half raw. Busser literally had it pressed on her shirt before serving it. No gloves/utensils to pick up your waffles. I've been to PJ'S in their old location & had been wanting to come back in the new boardwalk spot. It did not disappoint. Our server was beyond amazing & catered to our kiddos every need (thank you). Most of what our group ordered for dinner was delicious, the ambience was nice however because the sun was shining on the dining room it was rather hot. Service was great, everyone was very friendly and polite, quality of nearly all of what was ordered was good. I would stay away from the Ribeye though (for the price point, it should taste amazing and be thicker than 0.5") Everything else on the menu was delicious. I had a great experience at PJ's. I looked through Yelp for places in Seaside Heights that had great seafood and PJ's had great reviews! I went late afternoon on a weekday so there wasn't a wait. I just went outside and picked a picnic table. Service was quick and friendly. They explained some of the dishes and made suggestions for me. I settled on shrimp cocktail and flounder and I was happy with both! The shrimp were jumbo and the cocktail sauce was good. I had the flounder baked. It came out in like a cast iron plate, nice an hot in the same buttery sauce they cooked it in. The fish was tender and flakey and the seasoning was perfect. It came with a small side of vegetables. They were just ok, but I didn't mind since I was there for the seafood! The actual serving size of the fish was huge! Definitely a cute little place with great food and service. This place is on the boardwalk with no ac, just two huge fans. We had the calamari and the seafood paella. Without drinks, already 60 bucks. The calamari is interesting appetizer. It is lightly fried and drizzled with hot green and red pepper. The texture is tender unlike other fried calamari. So it can deserved a 4 star dish. The seafood paella is shared as entree enough for us. It is loaded with whole lobster (small maybe 1 lb softshell), 2 sea scallops, 4 large shrimps, Mussels, clams, and rice with original tomato base sauce ( reminded me when in Barcelona, Spain). As far as best food, I know better ones at my favorites ( The Avenue) at Long Branch or the Proving Ground at Highland. read more

Went on a mini vacation this year down to Seaside Heights. I did not want the typical boardwalk food of pizza, hot dogs and other fried foods. So I found PJ's Place after viewing yelp and seeing their giant dish of lobster and shellfish. The establishment is very small as it only sits about 25-30 people max. We waited a good 30 minutes before we got a table. As expected from a smaller place the tables are not that small. I always try to get a bigger table because I enjoy ordering half the menu. Everything was delicious and amazing. For a small up charge you can add the other half of the lobster to all the lobster dishes. This is the very first time I had a Tuna Poke and I have to say it is refreshing after all the fried foods. The only dish I felt is lacking is the Tira Misu and Crab cakes, just purely on the fact that I had better elsewhere. This restaurant made it's way to my "must visit" when in Seaside Heights :) read more
