Great spot for breakfast or lunch. This has a retro style diner feel. It is not as big on the inside as I thought it would so expect to wait on peak hours. They also have small diner type bar seating stools. The Buffalo chicken salad was big, fresh, and delicious. I had plenty to take home for meal number 2. Busy Saturday around 2pm, we got seated on the front patio, server was kind but took a while to get out orders in. We tried the crab cakes, which was good. But the star was Rhode Island style clam chowder. It was very flavorful, great ratio of clam to veggies to broth. Was well seasoned and we really enjoyed it. Came here for breakfast. I did the waitlist online and there was no wait. I ordered the garden omelet which was good and big. I ordered a side of fruit instead of toast and potatoes - the fruit was spoiled so I sent it back and just got the normal sides. For my son I ordered the kids egg and cheese burrito with a side of fruit and it was spoiled and had to send his fruit back. The fruit should have never left the kitchen, it was mushy, translucent and sour. Unfortunately this spoiled the whole meal/ dining experience. My son liked his burrito. We wanted to ordered the strawberry pop tart but they didn't have any. When the bill came the omelet was $1.50 more than listed on the menu, not sure why. read more

Wally's is easily one of my favorite breakfast spots on LBI. There is a huge variety on the menu and they always seem to be making updates and additions to keep things current. On top of the food being great, they also have delicious coffee that is serving piping hot every time. The service is friendly and everyone always makes you feel like they are happy to have you there. On top of the breakfast, they also have some great clam chowder! And although I've never had it, their crumb cake looks incredible. They have to go portions available for purchase and I'm always tempted. Overall, Wally's is a solid family friendly spot that I would recommend to everyone. read more

Came in for a quick Sunday breakfast at 11am, the place was recommended by a local in the area. We were greeted and waited about 10mins, the lovely server got a table in the open patio area. I ordered eggs benedict with cornbeef hash and potatoes. Came with a side of fresh fruit. Right to the point, the place is packed, the use of restrooms, you get on the line and wait. The size of this restaurant, needs more bayhrooms. There should be another restroom in the patio even if its only urinals. Restroom needed a bit of love, but it was ok. We parked right outside with little or no wait. Food came out pretty quick, my wife wanted a blue berry muffin. Apparently they ran out of them, got a corn muffin but it took about 15 mins to get the muffins with her sunny side eggs. Bummer. Having to wait. Overall a pretty good experience, now we know for the next time, friendly staff and good food. read more

Stopped in for a late breakfast on a Saturday in late September. We were seated right away. They were definitely busy as most tables were full. For being busy it wasn't terribly loud, which I really like. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the biscuits and gravy and my friend had the creamed chopped beef, which she thought was great! They serve coffee from a local company. I like when local businesses support other local businesses. I had a cold brew that was great!! Next time I'm in Long Beach Island I'll be back!! read more

Good food at this busy spot in Surf City. It's a standalone building on Boulevard. There's outdoor seating out front and also in a central courtyard. 2 indoor dining areas to the left and right of the entrance. Parking is at a premium since the on-street parking accommodates beach-goers in addition to patrons of the restaurants and shops in the area. Reservations are helpful for dinner. Our party of 15 people (!) was accommodated with a flourish - clearly this spot sees plenty of big families on vacation down the shore. Kyle was our server, with the help of a platoon of help. Thanks for a great job - all of the orders were delivered as ordered, simultaneously. No easy feat with that many people. There are a few items on the specially annotated gluten-free menu. One that we tried, the shrimp tacos, is really really good. 3 tacos to a serving. Bed of lettuce, fresh diced Jersey tomato, salsa verde, red onion and shredded cheese with a couple of plump, perfectly sauteed shrimp and topped with a lime crema sauce. Shrimp was delicious, veggies fresh. Yum. Also tried Ahi tuna. A plump fresh tuna steak is sprinkled with sesame seeds and seared, served with spinach mashed potatoes and sauteed veggies. To me, tuna steak is ideal when it's very rare - a sear on the outside and raw on the inside. This entrée was a little overdone for me, with the steak closer to medium. It was tasty, but not as good as it could have been. Maybe 3 out of 5 for this one. A fun place to go while you're at the beach - good food, great service. read more

One of the classier places to eat in LBI, this was a meal that was delicious and the service matched in pleasantness and friendliness. We hate a lighter lunch and everything came out as ordered and they took special care to feed and give a drink to our daughter first. You may sit either inside or outside depending on availability and umbrellas and canopies will protect you from the sun. We liked Wally's so much we went back a 2nd time this week on vacation! The chicken a avocado sandwich was a fav and 3 of us got this and another got the vegan version, all were great! Came here for breakfast - hubby had the South of the Border Burrito, we split the Lemon Blueberry Ricotta Crepes, and I had the Trenton Benedict. All were incredibly delicious. The Burrito was packed with flavor, eggs on the Benedict were perfectly cooked, and the crepes were perfectly balanced and light! The servers are always so helpful and nice, and they always provide the alternate menu options (Gluten Free & Vegan!). I take my family to Wally's quite often in the Summer and their breakfasts have great variety and good quality. You can go online to reserve seating and learn how long the wait will be so you can time leaving home to avoid standing in line like a lot of places. It's been an LBI favorite for decades and since they expanded it's gotten even better with outdoor seating as well. Just be aware of the managers who has a Dallas star tattoo on his arm, poor guy. The staff was friendly, and the ambience was certainly adequate. My biggest complaint is that all of the food was not served hot. We each had a bowl of chowder. One of us had the New England. The other had the Long Island and the chowder tasted good. But it was served warm at best Then he had boneless wings and I got a burger and an upcharge to sweet potato fries were cold but over done/ blackened, all of which were served above room temperature but not hot. I always prefer to leave restaurants positive, good reviews, but this one did not hit the mark of what a lunch should be . I'm not trying to be rude, but you can't cook food cold. After a long drive and some time at the beach to end the day , our family stopped at Wally's for dinner. We kept it simple and ordered some burgers, and they came out cooked to perfection and to our surprise it came with 2 individual burgers. The standout for me was their whiskey burger! Now after dinner we have their crumb cake a try which was excellent, their toast it on the grill with butter. We also loved their collaboration with the local coffee shop, Yellow Dog. Our toddler especially loved the friendly young staff and the bendy straws they gave him, which just added to the warm, welcoming vibe. The manager/owner on duty this morning was a total jerk! Made me stand & wait before acknowledging me, then proceeded to ask if I needed anything? I wanted to say I'm dropping my car off for an oil change! Why else would I be standing here?? He hands me a menu & points at an empty table & says there's a table there without escorting me to the table. About a minute later a couple walks in, he greets them as a customer normally should be greeted, asks how many in the party and leads them to a table. That's the moment I got up and stormed out & told him I didn't like his attitude. No way am I going to patronize any business after being treated like a second class citizen! We stopped into Wally's for a late morning / early afternoon meal and had a great experience. Our group of nine was split between breakfast and lunch orders, and everything we tried was fresh, well-prepared, and generously portioned. The staff was attentive from the moment we arrived - friendly, and on top of everything. The space itself is clean, nicely laid out, and has a comfortable, welcoming feel. We did not have a chance to use the outside area in the rear although that looked very nice. It was an easy, enjoyable meal, and we've made a note to return the next time we are in town. Completely disappointed with this restaurant. I had high hopes for this place, it had the best ratings around, many places within a few blocks had much lower ratings. So I expected some great food. When I pulled up the place looked great it was people in line and very expensive cars parked all around, my hopes were high . Unfortunately all my culinary dreams dissolved when the soup appetizer came out, it claimed to be an award-winning chowder recently winning first prize. But what I received was a lottery end of the pot bowl of soup specs and pieces... Basically broth with a bunch of leftover bits and pieces from the soup. Then my dining partner received scallops which were supposed to be for giant bass scallops which came out were six tiny scallops completely overcooked rubbery and coded with black pepper, the salt level was so high the dish was un edible. We complained to the waitress, she understood and offered us free dessert as a consolation. I could say some positive comments, like the waitress was very nice, the decor was very good, our hostess who greeted us was super friendly... And the other patrons in the restaurant seemed very nice, friendly and approachable for random conversations... Unfortunately this review should be about Food not about the company I held... This place is decent for a quick basic breakfast or lunch. You get the vibe the entire staff is kids who dont want to be there but it is summer on the island so I'd hate to work there too. Our food tasted good. Mozzarella sticks were great Cheese steak was ok, the fries are crappy quality/taste(mgmt. get crinkle cut fries ) Bang bang shrimp appetizer thing was good and larger than expected Shrimp bon mi looked good except they forgot to put any shrimp in it( how does that happen?) then when we told them Instead of just taking the messed up sandwich away and bringing a proper new one, they carry out a few shrimp on a plate, like here make it yourself?! Wtf is that? Kinda uncool Wallys. Do stuff right. Go the crumb cake to go from the front lobby and that was the best part of this place for sure. Go here but skip the appetizers, it ends up being too much food once your main lunch arrives(even without the shrimp in it) and just get your lunch and head out to explore the island. 4 stars cause our waitress was really nice. On our way out another waitress was bitching and complaining about her job as loud as she could. I thought it was funny but if it was my restaurant she would a been fired that second. Not cool for your customers to think the staff hates working there, makes you question what might be going on behind the scenes in the kitchen. What a treat!! The fried coffee cake melts in your mouth and is not overly sweet. It is a must for a starter. We were treated to an order of the lemon ricotta blueberry crepes. They dug in so quickly and they were so delicious we didn't even have time to take a photo. I was split between those and the Irish Eggs Benedict but on the recommendation of the super friendly chef, I went with the Benedict and am so happy I did and still got to try the crepes!! There are two rooms, one was full and louder the other only had three full tables and was much quieter. We were able to socialize with our table of 8 and hear each other. We were on the side of the kitchen and were graced with entertainment from the chef. You can tell how much he loves his restaurant. Highly recommend!! read more
