Wanted something fresh and authentic...so happy we took a chance on this small, unassuming place as we were so pleasantly surprised! From the moment we walked in the staff seemed to read our minds on where we wanted to sit for atmosphere (outside) as it was breezy and beautiful today, to guidance to where to grab some drinks to bring back for dinner. Our waitress was sooo friendly, energetic and enthusiastic about the menu we were just excited from the get go. The food to follow stood quite well on its own. We had the lobster roll with MAD fries (recommended) and scallops and shrimp with side salad. Every bite was fresh off the boat delicious! Scallops were melt in your mouth, the shrimp were delectable and the lobster roll was a perfect combination of sweet, fresh and savory...not to mention the speciality fries that deserve a prize all their own. I love when a fresh meal lets you feel satiated, and not roll your self home stuffed with false ingredients and fillers. This place is a must stop if you're in the area. Thank you MadFish! We are frequent customers of Madfish and I don't understand the negative reviews here. We have never had a bad meal or bad service. This is a small family owned business. They are only open starting in May and through the summer on weekends. There is a small menu but everything on it is fresh. All seafood is bought fresh and never frozen. I have had almost every fish on the menu and it was always amazing. If you want a small local place with great food Madfish is the place for you! read more

Unfortunately we were very disappointed. Should have turned around after walking in and smelling fish. Bisque was delicious,but wasn't hot enough. I make matters worse the oyster crackers were stale.. so that sealed the deal for me Friend had broiled scallops and shrimp. No bad but the fries were cold. Mad customer!! read more

Opening day at Madfish was handled perfectly! greeted by friendly staff ! This seems like family run business which was why i guess we felt very comfortable! We Sat in side , It was nice & Cool plenty of seating ! Ordered the lobster soup special HIGHLY recommend that ! It tasted like a vodka pink sauce ( even brought home a QT container for Sunday ) loved our food which came out Hot in about 20 minutes because everything was made fresh didn't mind the wait ! MadFish is always a must on our weekly Seaside trip. She is open a few more days during the week which is really nice. You are able to dine in now as well. This week we got the scallop special over Cajun cream pasta and a lobster roll. The lobster roll is always a solid choice. Her crab cakes are always a great choice too but we got scallops instead this week. The scallops though 10/10. So so good! I am super picky with Scallops too. They have to be cooked perfect for me to like them it's a texture thing. Anyway I am so glad we picked them this week. Can't wait until next year! read more

I brought my friends here from out of state. We all wanted to try different things so we all did. We all ended up getting some lobster rolls. We ended up getting some the sample platter and the Cajun pasta. Let me tell you this three dishes was enough for four not only did it fill us up, but it was also high-quality freshly cooked seafood. For the very first time trying this restaurant, I would definitely recommend it to anyone else looking for a local here at Jersey shore. I wanted to give this place another shot because when they first opened they were absolutely amazing went back today and spent 22 bucks for this... one piece of flounder and what I felt like was half of the fries they normally give and definitely really not as good as the last time they used to give way more fish and way more fries for the price. Went early on the Saturday night over Labor Day weekend. The service was excellent. We started with the blueberry salad which was delicious. My husband had the seafood platter with the flounder scallops and crab cakes. He enjoyed it but I had ordered the fresh caught tuna that had just come in that day. It was absolutely amazing and the best tuna I have ever had. It was made simple over orzo rice with fresh cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. Bam!!! What a dinner. The fried flounder was absolutely F'ing fantastic. It will be ordered with every meal! Broiled scallops were delicious. The Lobster Bisque had hammer sized chunks of lobster. The hidden jem of Seaside Park! I Went there today for the first time at the recommendation of my father who has been to them a dozen times already and loves their seafood. I called in advance for my order and was greeted by a super friendly girl behind the window. Food came out hot and very fresh! To anyone reading that review with one star worried about the portion size being inadequate I'd like to say they're wrong and that the portions are perfectly normal for a normal adult, That comment is harmful to this woman owned small business and so should be disregarded. Anyway, I got the broiled flounder and it was exactly what I hoped it to be and the crab cakes were also fantastic. If you're looking for some fresh from the Atlantic seafood on your next visit to our beloved Seaside Park, support small businesses this summer and give them a shot! I was sent to Madfish by a Seaside Heights local who owned the parking lot by the beach., I didn't want something touristy or fancy... He said Madfish is the place! Let me tell you folks, from the moment we walked in, I've never felt more unwelcome in a restaurant ever. Our greeting was " You can sit anywhere ". That's it. In spite of the fact that there was just one table it took forever for anyone to come to our table. The menu is very limited... but we were ok with that. My niece ordered fried shrimp dinner with the mad fries. We were then informed that they ran out of french fries and they could give us greens and coleslaw. I was really disappointed and I let them know that I even said, that I was really looking forward to trying them as I'd heard they were awesome!!! Blank stare. so she suggested jasmine rice, which sounded better than greens. I ordered the crabcake dinner which was $30. We both asked for water which she brought but let me tell you that was the last time we saw her. after another half an hour someone from the kitchen brought out our dinner. The crabcakes were black I said they're burnt she responded is that burnt to you? I said well they're black, she said I'll redo them for you and stomped off when she brought them back. They were done properly golden brown, but the crab meat was awful like that shredded stuff in a can you buy in the tunafish aisle. and the jasmine rice? Absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. I had to get up and go to the cash register for salt and pepper. They earned their one star with the fried shrimp which I would definitely order again, TO GO. Here's the best part, a table came in just a few minutes after our dinner came out... watching them being greeted warmly offered them specials of the day ( really?), and being told there would be a slight wait for the fries. We would have waited for the fries... we already waited 45 minutes... what's another 15? We were never offered the special crab tacos...We never even got another glass of water, they didn't even bring a check. We finished eating and felt really really uncomfortable. So we walked to the register... she rang me up without a word, it was like they were waiting for us to leave. As we left we walked by picnic tables full of happy people with piles of fries on their plates. This was to be a special day at the beach for me and my niece. And to the horrible people at Madfish much as you tried to ruin it, I still love Seaside, and you do not represent it's people. read more

Excellent fried flounder, shrimp, and scallops out of the kitchen at 'The 3 C's Cafe'. They also have chicken fingers available, which were breaded kind of strangely but we're very good. Our order came with plenty of sauces... Cocktail, tartar, and remulade(I know I butchered that word). It's not cheap, but it's fresh and delicious. So the Mad Fries are tasty. I'm pretty sure they are only open a few nights a week (maybe Friday, Saturday and Sunday?), so call or stop by and ask if you are in the area. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE. When we go to Seaside for the week, this is the much-anticipated first and last meal. I get the grilled fish sandwich; hubs get the fried. DELECTABLE. I want one right now. The soft brioche, crunchy lettuce, fresh tomato, and magical aioli (and I don't even like mayo) are the perfect compliments to the fresh-from-the-ocean fish. The basic mixed greens that come with the sammy are simply on point as well. Whatever the dressing is - it's perfecto. Everything is just so gosh darn good together.
