I'm not a big review leaver I believe in the whimsical game of chance of life and people expericing their own adventures, but fk that, it would be criminal if I didn't leave a review for this place-- it was off the chain! I got a pastrami sandwich in the morning with macaroni salad which i loved because I don't always want breakfast food in the morning-- so given the choice between breakfast and lunch was awesome. Though I did pilfer some of my boyfriends pancakes and potatoes, which were sooo savory!! The mix of flavors was beyond satiating! And the ambiance was fun, they are clearly big greatful dead/music fans from the logos to their shirts to their menu items which are mostly dedicated to songs as well--such as the prince of darkness, Dickey betts and so on! Even the The coffee was delicious and the service was great, we sat at the bar, and they were very attentive and patient even though they were busy busy. They have a back room and a front room so it may look small but it expands. I'm mad we tried another place for breakfast the next morning instead of going back to capsized-- trying to be adventurous and ish--but we won't make that mistake again next time. Absurdly delicious food here! Their breakfast burrito (me) and grilled cheese (kiddo) were both incredibly tasty and bursting with flavor. The fries are all time greats, if you've ever been to The Varsity in Atlanta then these are somehow a BETTER version of those crispy fries. Chicken deli sandwich was a solid 7.5/10, so it was the only thing that didn't blow us away but it was still really good. This place is serving visitors outside and observing social distancing. All servers wear masks. The menu is extremely 'inexpensive' (cheap is such a cheap word) for a theme-restaurant like this. A wonderful local spot with great food and fast service! I love coming here on weekends - there are always people here and there is indoor and outdoor seating. They also have breakfast and lunch specials with great prices. My two favorite things to order are Bubba's breakfast bowl which has sunny side up eggs, potatoes, cheese, sausage, jalapeño, and a homemade chili red sauce, and the blueberry pancakes. Everything is always very fresh and the servers are very kind. Something I appreciate about this restaurant is how consistent it is - every time I go I get really great food, so I feel like it's a reliable place to go! Best breakfast I've had in a long time. Absolutely amazing food!!!! I didnt know what to choose for breakfast so i decided to go for the moby dick( a little bit of everything). I did make some alterations, instead of regular pancakes i got the banana walnut pancakes (.50 surcharge) and instead of meat i got fruit ( Was unaware it was a $2 surcharge). Con:The fruit was the only part that was not up to par. It tasted like it came from a can and wasnt fresh. Definitely would not get the fruit and would stick to the meat. Pro: Literally everything else was so delicious. The home fries were so flavorful!!! It had the perfect blend of spices and what i loved was that the meal did not taste greasy whatsoever. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The pancakes were so freaking delish! when i first saw them i thought they had forgotten to put the walnut and bananas only to realize the toppings are actually placed in the bottom of each pancakes super unusual but it definitely works. Excellent place to come for breakfast. My order was very basic (bacon, eggs, home fries and toast) but was really flavorful and made for a wonderful meal. Really spacious interior; plenty of bar seating as well as a more private dining area around the corner. I dined solo in the counter area at a booth and felt comfortable and not at all out of place. Of course, this is a marine inspired restaurant so the names of the menu items are cute (i.e. The Siren, Moby Dick, etc). Definitely want to check this place out again. I love this place. Perfect local gem my wife and I always leave full and happy with a great service. That was pre-Covid, even no their take out is still delicious and we look forward to trying their outdoor seating. The place is local for sure. The staff usually are talking about local sports or the beach. There is a good mix of older customers and young families, always a good sigh you can cater to both audiences. My favorite meal is the Tacos Ded Capitan. Amazing breakfast tacos with a spicy red sauce to die for. I'm a big guy and they are robust. My wife enjoys the omelets and their home fries are always perfectly crispy with a satisfying flavor. Every experience we had the waitress was kind and attentive, but they're also used to letting people linger and you never feel like a bother while you finish your coffee. Capsized Cafe has a very cute vibe. Staff is friendly and service as expected. The Omelet was good with plentiful ingredients. The blueberry pancakes were tasty and tender. On to the bacon. It presented aa mass of meat all stuck together. Because of this, it was tough and inedible. When mentioned to the server, it was explained that the bacon is precooked at the beginning of the morning and then finished as needed. There was no apology or offer to replace. Oil can sludge coffee greeted us and after a few sips were all We could manage. You know you are in trouble when the waitress greeting us is wearing a coat inside , it was real cold . Unfortunately, the only thing to warm us up was the before mentioned oil can sludge coffee . I ordered a two egg platter with meat . The platter was huge and honestly the scrambled eggs must of been at least 4 eggs , though they were dry , overcooked and rubbery. The meat received the same treatment. Thank you fellow yelpers for helping us find this cafe! Walking in you see a small area with tables and a breakfast counter. It's a nautically themed spot, tastefully decorated with repurposed wood on the wall. We had been out riding bikes so we chose the counters to have our breakfast. As soon as we sat, someone came over to ask if we wanted coffee. It turns out, he wasn't our waiter, he just wanted to make sure we didn't wait too long without something to drink. They had a good sized menu but in the end, we both chose to have a couple of eggs. However, they have fun nautical names for their combo plates and some of the specials sounded delectable. To my surprise and delight, they actually offer turkey bacon! Considering I can't eat pork, this is huge for me! Now, to be honest I wasn't expecting much, but I have to admit the presentation of my two over easy eggs was quite nice (picture). The home fries had just enough pepper and a bit of caramelized onions. I ordered my toast dry and my BF wanted his buttered. I know it sounds silly, but they didn't mess this up. We love to go out for breakfast and the butter thing gets messed up a lot. As we ate, I noticed the staff worked together. La Portena"s basic fried egg home fries and Taylor pork roll breakfast (the Old Salt) was well executed --good eggs, nicely prepared home fries, a little flat top crust on the meat. The pre buttered rye toast was tasty. I was not blown away by my Bubba's breakfast bowl, a $9 special. The eggs on top were perfectly cooked but the chorizo and jalapeno chili lacked the deep flavor I had expected. This one could use a re-think. Service was excellent and prices were reasonable. This place was descent. I went on a Sunday morning and there was no wait. The food was okay, I had the Popeye omelette and asked for Swiss cheese instead of feta, but they gave me feta. My sister had the chocolate chip pancakes which were low on chocolate chips and nothing too special. We came after working up an appetite whale watching nearby. I ordered the houseboat salad with the house dressing and my boyfriend ordered the American burger with their homemade chips. Both dishes came out quickly and were so. dang. good. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and the amount of food was hefty. The service was cheerful and expeditious. Out for a morning bike ride along the beach, this was a great local place for us to re-energize with a healthy breakfast. Cute place, great food and attentive staff. The meal was delicious and sitting at the bar was very comfortable. Saturday morning at 9am was not too crowded and the food came out fast and fresh. The bar area is long enough to seat 8 people and the floor has about a dozen tables. The bathrooms were clean(always a good indication of how clean they keep the rest of the place). The waiter told us Sunday's in the summer can be crowded so get here early if that is your plan. In the fall and winter seating is easier to come by. Great selection of breakfast and dinner items on the menu. Will certainly be returning soon. read more
