Sausage, egg, and cheese omelette turned into quesadilla
Tony P.

I really wanted to like this place. It wasn't quite what I expected. It's on the corner at a traffic light, you have to be careful or you will you miss it. The door is a screen door, with a solid wooden door behind it to get in. It's kind of rustic, a small dining area with a long counter. On Sunday Dec 21st I met my ex here for a late breakfast, early lunch around noon. It was fairly busy, but I was able to sit down immediately. The staff seemed very nice, very kind. I asked the waitress what she recommended. I went with her recommendation of a build your own omelette turned into a quesadilla. She said it would be very filling. It came with diced breakfast potatoes which were decent, served very hot, the way I like it. Unfortunately they had no sour cream to go with a quesadilla, not a big deal. The problem with this dish was there was very little sausage and almost no cheese. A quesadilla should be real cheesy to hold it together that would have kept all the egg from falling out. It wasn't very filling. I had to use a lot of ketchup as glue, it kind made things worse. My ex had an avocado toast with egg and topped with greens and she chose garlic aïoli dressing. She seemed to like it. The other diners seemed happy with their meals. I saw a lot of cute beignets and breakfast bowls, and delicious looking toast. The coffee was cold, and not to my liking. The waitress did heat it up for me in the microwave, but I did not get a refill. If I'm ever in the area again or passing by at the right time, I might give it another shot and try something different on the menu.

Lovely outdoor and brunch spot! Excellent cappuccino and food. Service was a little slow but it was busy. No trouble walking in over the holiday day weekend.

Nice breakfast this morning for my daughter's birthday. Sat outdoors which was very pleasant. Good selection of items on the menu. My daughter had short stack of pancakes which were thin not overpowering like some hotcakes. I had the Midwest scramble which is like an open faced omelet. Always a fine breakfast.

Used to rave about this place. New owners. New menu. Ice cold potatoes and toast. Cheese doesn't melt. Not worth the ride anymore.

The restaurant was packed on a Monday night, which was probably a good sign for what led to a delicious meal. I really enjoyed the roasted oysters topped with yummy breadcrumbs. My daughter enjoyed a sushi appetizer and wedge salad with blackened tuna that she claimed was delicious as well. Our other dinner partner enjoyed his halibut. I really loved the show-stopping, gigantic jumbo lump crab meat risotto. It was very filling, but super delicious. The food was rich and, in some ways, basic, but executed perfectly. I added some of the street corn and that really made things even better get this dish. You won't be disappointed. The atmosphere was busy, if not hectic. Our table was in the middle of the room, next to a large family with little kids. One was seven months old and the other was two. That seemed like a bit much for a dinner with these price points. It's not an inexpensive restaurant and certainly not a family-vibe Houlihan's. We had mixed feelings about the atmosphere, but I kind of thought it was cool--a really pretty building with some rustic charm.

He's beyond attentive, knows the menu inside and out, and clearly takes pride in his craft. His Old Fashioned is the best I've ever had--and I've had them everywhere. The martini is equally impressive, with that perfect cloudy glow that only comes from a flawlessly balanced shake. A phenomenal start to the evening. The food more than lives up to the experience at the bar. Every dish is precisely prepared, beautifully executed, and made with abundant, high-quality ingredients. You can taste the care and consistency in every bite. Without question, Shipwreck Grill is one of the best restaurants in Monmouth County. A true standout and a place I'll return to again and again.

Strike 1 Then we entered on time for our 7 o'clock reservation, a young girl checked our reservation and proceeded to go and ask an older woman (I assume in charge) can over to us and said you can wait outside your table is not ready . Funny thing is there was a table for 2 already set. Strike 2 So we went and sat outside, about 5 minutes later two people entered the restaurant and were immediately seated at that empty table Strike 3 Dining is not just food, but customer service is as important. We were lucky enough to score a table right on the water, with water views and a live band. The atmosphere was fun, lively, and everything you'd hope for in a waterfront restaurant. Midway through our meal, however, a sudden rainstorm rolled in and created a bit of chaos. Everyone rushed to grab one of the limited covered tables under the tent, making the experience feel a little frantic for a while. The staff did not help figure out where to go, what to do or anything really helpful. Food-wise, the best was Mike's Signature Bang Bang Shrimp. The rice bowls were less impressive. The vegetable component was more of a slaw than the stir-fried vegetables we expected, the dishes could have used much more sauce, and the panko-crusted mahi bowl felt heavier and more fried than anticipated. We also ordered a bucket of High Noons, but there was confusion about the happy hour deal. Neither the menu nor our server could explain the bucket pricing, and when the bill arrived, it appeared we paid the same as ordering the drinks individually. That was disappointing and took away from the experience.
