    Eggs Benedict and hash browns
    Judy S.

Went here on a Sunday morning for breakfast. We love how they updated the old place. It looks fabulous, neat and clean. The service was great- friendly and accommodating. The food was good. Hubby got eggs Benedict and I got an egg white omelette with avocado and fresh fruit. The avocado was a little brown so it wasn't freshly cut, but the fruit was fresh and juicy. I was glad to get multi-grain toast! Next time there, though, I'll definitely bring a sweater as the AC made me cold.

We were really impressed by the location. The Food shack is located right on the beach which is the perfect way to enjoy a lunch on a Summer day in Point Pleasant. They have lots of umbrellaed outdoor seating, and some benches in the sun, so there are options for everyone. They also have some indoor seating, and the inside is adorable. We ordered a swiss grilled cheese with tomato on top, and a BLT. Each item came with pickles and a bag of chips. Each item was priced reasonably, especially considering typical Jersey Shore pricing. My grilled cheese was great. The bread/cheese/tomato ratio was perfect. The cheese was gooey, and stayed gooey even as the sandwich cooled. The bread on the grilled cheese was crispy on the outside and still soft and warm on the inside. I didn't know what to expect from a small shack on the beach, especially with something as simple as a grilled cheese, but I really enjoyed it. The BLT also had a gread tomato/bacon/lettuce/mayo ratio and wasn't too greasy. Overall I will definitely be coming back!

We were greeted right away from a friendly welcoming man and were seated right away. I had the birria taco and barbacoa taco - barbacoa taco was the best one. So flavorful and filling. The birria taco tried its best but if you want something authentic it's definitely not here for the birria taco. The broth was more tomato base than what it's supposed to be and the taco itself was a bit more tougher than the authentic Mexican dish. My son enjoyed his burger but didn't care for the fries or cheese sauce on the side he ordered. My fiancé didn't care for his skirt steak sandwich too much, as it was difficult to chew. The lemonade was delicious. Service was great - thanks Sophie (I think her name was?). There's free street parking nearby and there may even be a parking lot behind? We saw this possibility as we walked across the street after parking the car nearby. Ambience is casual. I'd definitely come back for that barbacoa taco! Yum!

The only nit here is the pricing which is still very high. Not hard to spend $50 here with tip for breakfast for two people. If they were 10-15% cheaper I would be rating them (5) stars. But, be that as it may, we will breakfast here from time to time.

I got pork roll, grape tomatoes, broccoli, and American cheese in my omelet. Sure, this was the third day in a row I had pork roll, but I was in New Jersey, so I was required to by several state and local statutes. Service was good - the waitress was friendly and answered all of our questions easily. I almost gave her a pop-quiz just to see how much she knew, but I figured she works hard enough as it is...doesn't need some jerk from out of town making her job harder. I'll leave that to the people from NJ. The food was delicious - the omelet was as expected for the most part. However, the pork roll was not pieces of slices but rather thick chunks, which was awesome! Before I left another wait staff person approached us. He asked me if I enjoyed listening to ska music, based on the way I was dressed. We were amused. Charming little place on a corner. Has good food, decent prices, and friendly staff. It took a while for the food to come out and I will say, another member of our party ordered the omelette with French fries on the side, and the amount of fries they gave could've been more generous. The omelette took up the entire plate so they only scattered a few fries on the remaining space, rather than putting it on a new plate.
