An employee (who we assume was the bartender ) approached us and stated she was just starting her break and would be back soon and walked off. My group just stood there looking at each other . We came in twice during our 5 day stay in Manasquan. The first time was just for a quick beer while we waited for our friend's train to arrive. The beer was ice cold and the service was great. I'm not usually a steak girlie, but I was craving one after a long work day. I got the petite filet door dashed & when I tell you how amazingly flavorful & perfectly cooked this steak was. Wow. I have never been inside the restaurant, but after this first impression I will 100% talk my husband into making this our next date night spot. When I travel I love to be introduced to the places the locals hang out. They usually are hidden gems that only the people you visit in that town know about. I also love local restaurant bars with live bands that are talented and have a great repertoire of all the old Classic Rock music. Better yet how about a bar right on the Jersey Shore in the small town of Manasquan. If you love to find these places look no further. Great local clientele that loves music and have a great time. Great food consisting of Big Juicy Burgers and Sliders, Fish and Chips, Chicken Wings and Fries and Reuben Sandwiches. Now I did not eat here because we came here after dinner, but after some drinks and seeing a man eating the best looking Burger I think I've ever seen and juicy too, the temptation almost got to me. They say The Irish Rail has the best burgers in the area. So next time!!! I was drinking white wine and having a ball singing up front by the band. What a treat this place was. Three of us stopped in for lunch today and were very happy we did. We were greeted by our bartender/waiter Mark. He was very nice and efficient. Husband started off with burger sliders as an appetizer. They weren't your now standard little patty on a tiny Hawaiian roll. These were big! And delicious. There was a great open face ruben sandwich, steak sandwich cooked to your preference and chicken parm sandwich loaded with chicken. They all came with nice crisp steak fries. The place is at the train station is very small but has a decent size bar and about 10 tables. Prices were reasonable for size and quality of food and the nice cold beers. Getting a feel for this place in the late afternoon. Not too busy, young crowd, 70-90's music blasting. There's 5 TV's and 2 dart boards. There's not too many tables and the bar area seats 12-13. This was formally the Manasquan Rail Road station. I found out there's NO happy hour. Not to my liking. The barkeep was friendly and knew how to pour a Guinness Stout. Since I did not eat at this establishment, I cannot rate it on its food. I rated it on its atmosphere, ambiance and the physical layout. Might return and eat here in the fall. read more

I actually tried the chicken sandwich a few weeks ago and it was actually decent. Although the Rail can get very crowded, especially on trivia nights, the bartender and waitresses are super attentive and always on top of things. read more

Made a reservation here for Jersey Shore Restaurant Week. Started with the Cajun Tuna Bites and the Tomato and Mozzarella salad. The tuna bites were a fisherman's dream! Seared perfectly on the outside and pink on the inside. The Cajun seasoning was spicy but not over powering. The side of wasabi aioli was delicious but not needed. The tomato salad was a delightful dish of multi colored tomatoes and mozzarella balls drizzled in a balsamic dressing. Both were delicious and plenty! We ordered Fish and Chips with "homemade chips". Fish was fresh, and battered up crunchy but flaky on the inside just like they do across the pond. Yeah, THAT good! No room for dessert so brought them home to devour later. Went for an early Sunday lunch. The food and ambiance was great. We've eaten there a few times before and starting to bring friends with us to show them the little hidden restaurant in manasquan. However we did end up cutting our lunch short due to something that made my family and friends uncomfortable. During our lunch our waitress(didn't give her name) came over to clear plates and without asking for permission starts touching my 10 month old babies face. My husband and I were super uncomfortable since we don't know this person and don't like strangers touching our kid(You can interact with her but don't touch) We didn't say anything at the time, but we asked for our bill paid it and left. rethinking it now a few days later and I'm still upset and super uncomfortable about the situation. First bar tender was rude when we sat down; Gave us a dirty look and was brisk, lacked basic customer service skills. The other bartender that took our order made up for the first woman's incompetence by being friendly and efficient. We were told there would be an extended wait for food since there was a chef out, understandable but an inconvenience to customers none the less. Overheard the owner saying one chef was out and a bus boy was "arrested" so I guess they were short staffed. They closed the kitchen at 8:30 but we put our orders in before hand. Menu is expansive but the prices are very high and the portions do not match. The 1/4 sliders are 10$, they are two very small burgers that only come with cheese not even French fries or chips, not even a pickle, pretty stingy, you'll get a better value at McDonald's. read more

A nice little pub restaurant in/at the train station. It was a small bar area with seats at the bar and a standing area as well. The seating area is also small with 4 or 5 booths, and 5 smaller tables. The atmosphere is cozy, authentic and nice. I was there on a Sunday, and the place was fairly busy. As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure it was restaurant week. There was one waitress, and the bartender handling everything... Service was slower than I would have liked, and we ended up waiting for bill 10 minutes longer than we should have. We also had to have her bill corrected, which they were happy to do. The staff was trying the best, but they needed someone else on shift. The food was good, and the highlight was the seared tuna appetizer, which had this very good spicy green sauce with it. I could've eaten two more orders of it. I also got a burger cooked medium, and it was well-prepared, but the bun seems like it was right out of a supermarket package and not really a good match for a quality burger. However, I'd rather have a good burger with a mediocre bun, than the other way around! They also had a fairly good beer selection. read more

This is a small pub with good food. It is located on Main Street - next to the Manasquan Train Station. Prices are very reasonable, with different specials throughout the week.
