Was very shocked to see Beacon 70 only had a 3.5 rating since it is located right on the water and has a robust menu. The space is huge with a ton of seating both inside and outside with multiple bars. Great spot to grab just drinks or food as well. They have a new special every day of the week and I was able to enjoy an $8 burger on Tuesday. The only reason I am giving 4 stars was for the service. My server was not super friendly or attentive and seemed annoyed when my friend and I didn't know what we wanted to order as soon as we sat down. Ambiance during the day is mellow, but still busy. Nice naturally sunlit bright rooms and a great view of the marina / water. There are TWO bars, both with tons of TVs around them. Not a bad seat in the place. No overpowering music which is a plus. Came here for lunch and got the grilled cheese trio ($12.50). 3 full sandwiches well made. VERY filling, so the price point is great for this dish. The tomato bisque could use a touch more pepper but that's being nit-picky. Cheese and bacon: classic. Personally, had I'd been paying attention I would have replaced the bacon with tomato. Bacon is not burnt to a crisp, it is soft and chewy. Pico de gallo: tastes like a taco but it's on bread. I couldn't picture this working but somehow it really does. Pico tastes fresh. This one had the most flavor. Mushroom and onion: expected this to kinda be like a French onion but it's not. Onions are soft but not caramelized. Tasty, but wouldn't be my first choice. Maybe some ah jus rather than soup. That would hit the spot. Bread is perfectly toasted. You can taste the butter used to brown it. I love that there's different choices on the dish. Beer is nice and cold ($5 peroni on a Wednesday.) I was helped by Taylor according to the receipt and she gave perfect service. Didn't make me wait too long, checked on me the perfect amount, didn't assume I was done when my beer was empty. Went there on Monday night for happy hour. It was packed which is a sign to the place being good. They had great food specials like 69 cent wings and some drink specials including $1 blue point oysters. We got a large bar pie, some oysters, and wings and were extremely happy. We had to sit outside overlooking the water which was really nice, but service was a little slow and the waiters didn't come by as much to those tables. Honestly should get 0/5, live locally and have been probably 5-6 times in the past few months and every single time this place manages to screw something up. Order bone in wings and get boneless wings, ordered a pizza and somehow managed to get a piece of glass on top of the pizza, our last takeout order was given to a Grubhub driver and the only recourse was "sorry you'll have to wait 30 minutes for us to remake it." The ambiance of the place was great - big space with a good amount of people however the food was average and the service could have been better. The nachos were the favorite among the table. They did not skimp on the amount of short ribs on them. I got the skirt steak which was a good portion but the potato hash with it had a weird sour note to it. The cookie lava dessert was just a cookie in another font. I was hoping for a chocolatey lava center like a lava cake. We went here for my sons birthday and my daughter had a worm crawling in her caesar salad halfway through eating it. Needless to say we were disgusted and 3 of us couldn't even finish eating our meals. I know things happen and i would have let it go if the manager handled it better. The waitress called the manager over to speak to us about it her name was Jamie she was rude and acted like she could care less. She said she will take her salad off the bill as if that was doing us a favor. Why would we pay for it!! She offered no apology and nothing else other than asking my daughter if she wanted something else at that point all she wanted was to throw up. The manager actually said to my husband that "you know lettuce grows in the ground right" as if that makes it ok. We paid our bill and left. Hopefully upper management sees this and there are better practices put in place in the kitchen so this doesnt happen to someone else and with management on how to handle it better. read more

Because it started to downpour you took complete disregard for those that were already waiting, and made those outside your priority. If you know rain is coming don't make the patio an option. First time visiting here this weekend with my cousin. Nice waterfront location in Brick by a marina, really cool designed building. There was a bit of a wait for a table when we walked in, so we opted for the back bar. The first bartender kind of ignored us a lot, paid more attention to other diners, took forever to order food. And blech. We did not love the food. Got the yellowfin tuna app bites, did not like the flavor or the texture. When we saw 'tempura bites' on the menu,we were expecting something like a whole thing fried in tempura breading. But it was like a sushi roll, & wasn't really in the mood for sushi. My cousin got sliders, said they were flavorless- something she could have gotten at McDonalds for cheaper. I ordered the grill cheese trio, because how hard is it to screw up grilled cheese. The soup that it came with, tomato bisque was the only thing edible. The cheese wasn't melted on any of the sandwiches & it kept falling apart when trying to take a bite. The bacon was fatty on one sandwich, the bruschetta sandwich had once again, no flavor. Nothing on the menu really jumped out at us to begin with. The bartender that came in for the later shift actually paid attention to us, and made us yummy drinks, light convo, personable.
